I have been following Brian and Carrie as well as Norm and Tina for some time now. Just subscribed to your channel. Quality job. Very informative. Looking forward to more content in the near future. All the best from Newfoundland.
We follow Brian & Carrie as well! Thank you so much for subscribing and for your kind feedback! We will definitely have more videos coming out very soon! We are heading to Newfoundland this summer!! We will have to hit you up for some tips and must-do's!! We have never been and are really excited to head out there! All the best. Cheers!
Congratulations on your retirement! The camera loves you both and I’m enjoying your vlogs. I’m also Canadian and would like to learn more about your journey on finding health care insurance. Planning on extended travel in the near future. Cheers and enjoy the wine!
Thank you so much for the nice feedback, we are thrilled that you are enjoying our vlogs! After watching various Canadians (and other) travellers on UA-cam and doing our own research and reading reviews, we settled on SafetyWing. We plan to return to Canada and live for at least 6 months in Ontario, so we keep our free healthcare at home. So SafetyWing appeared to be the best for those with coverage in their home country. We can pause/cancel our coverage when we return to Canada. It is also affordable, covers us in all of the countries that we plan to visit and seemed to have the best reviews for customer service, and no hassle payments. The other contender for us, which seems popular, was Cigna Global, but a lot of customer complaints etc that we were not comfortable with. So in the end, everyone may have a slightly different situation, but always check out: reviews by other customers, the countries that are covered, what exactly is covered. We also only chose emergency coverage (so an accident, broken arm, ER visit, surgery kind of thing). We choose to pay out of pocket for any regular doctor appointment or dental care while travelling (as our research shows that this is very cheap and top-notch care in the countries we are visiting). In fact, there are people who choose to wait to have dental work done overseas or head to SE Asia to get an MRI done faster than they could in Ontario's (sadly broken) healthcare system. We hope some of this helps. We plan to get our teeth cleaned while in SE Asia, so we will definitely vlog about that experience as I think a lot of people are curious about medical and dental abroad. Cheers!
Thanks Tracey!! It has been super interesting keeping a budget and watching where we actually spend money! Also, makes me scared for the sticker shock when we return to Canada! LOL
We are heading from Minnesota to Portugal late February for 2 weeks and looking into retiring early. Good luck on your channel and thanks for the information you provided about your travels.
That is an exciting trip to look forward to! Portugal in general would be a good place to retire early to, in our opinion so far. We want to explore the north more in the future, but for people who want a change from dull, cold winters in northern US and Canada, south of Portugal is lovely! Not too hot and SO many days of sunshine! Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Olá! Thank you for an excellent video. We are retired American educators in Europe now after helping a new school open in Lviv. We stayed in Krakow for 6 weeks and in Tallinn for one month. We plan on returning to Europe in the fall, exploring Portugal and possibly our next home location. This area has amazing towns, beaches, and boardwalks. We love a walkable and accessible city. Healthcare, transportation, safety, and reliability are our concerns. Obrigado!! Dean & Cindy
Well thank you so much for watching and letting us know that you enjoyed the video. It sounds like you have had some amazing travels and experiences abroad. Krakow looks so beautiful! we really need to add Poland to our list of travel plans! South of Portugal is so spectacular and we agree, it has so much to offer on top of its amazing weather. We felt extremely safe in Portugal - always and although we thankfully didn't need to use the healthcare system, others have great experiences. What we are realizing is that most places in the world have top notch health care, very modern and advanced. Due to the amount of tourism and expats in southern Portugal, English was spoken everywhere. We took trains, buses, Ubers and planes and found Portugal to have excellent public transit and very excellent infastructure and roadways. Thank you so much for watching! We hope that you continue follow along as we keep exploring new countries! Our Schengen time was up at the end of January, so we have moved on to Southeast Asia. Cheers!!
Oh wow! Thank you so much!! We are so new and learning as we go and nice feedback like this is wonderful and encouraging. Thank you for watching! Cheers!
