Thank you, thank you, thank you for your honesty Nick. It’s equally important to know the good as well as the bad so appreciate your honesty and first-class work (as always). 👍🏻 👍🏻
Great insight into Albufeira cant begin to describe the changes since the our first visit in the early 70s..but the last 2 mins of the video describe it perfectly...in high summer its a madhouse.
Top of the morning to you Nick! One of your best Vlogs , well done it does not drag on ! I listened from beginning to the end! The music and car wash and quiet times in between were perfect! Albufeira "Baltum" seems to be a good home base. Obrigada, Cheers!
Living vicariously through your videos on this cold English morning haha great video Nick, packed full of info. I was in Albufeira last June/July in the height of summer, in between lockdowns, and it felt like I was the only tourist there. To be able to experience the beaches and mountain biking in the height of summer with no pissed up Brits causing trouble was heavenly haha Albufeira is a great place, and although it has its "dark side", it's very localised, so it's very easy to avoid. Stay away from the Strip and you will barely even notice it. Thanks again Nick, can't wait to get back out there this summer (fingers crossed)
I have only been to Albufeira in the winter when it is deserted and it is great. The people who run the cafes and restaurants are so friendly. You have a very broad definition of where Albufeira starts and ends but you know the area much better than I do. If you do go to Albufeira, you have to go to the Pingo Doce in the middle of the town. The buffet with grilled fresh fish is amazing and cheap beyond belief.
Great video. We only go to Albufeira in December. It's so quiet then. We travel around staying in many places. The old town is very nice in the winter. Missed going last December for the first time in years. Thank you for another great video. We hope to be back again this year.
For a very long time my opinion of the Algarve was clouded by negative impressions of Albufeira delivered by people who had no business going to Albufeira. They would say that the Algarve is a zoo when in fact all they were commenting on was the party scene in Albufeira. Based on that feedback it took me a long time to even want to visit the Algarve but as soon as I did I absolutely LOVED it! Albufeira is there for those who want it and, for those who don't, there are countless other beautiful places to enjoy in the Algarve. Thank you for another great video, Nick.
You're welcome Martin and you make a sound argument. It's sad that people have that opinion of the Algarve and spread that perception. For those who explore further, treasures await!
Hey, Nick. I have to admit I'm one of those people who avoid Albufeira, probably because I've only ever been there in the summer season when it's rammed with Brits (some of whom are rather unpleasant) and young timeshare saleskids. Still, take the masses out of the equation and it's a lovely place, and worth a day-trip. Thanks for another great vid, Nick. (Idea for a future video: Nick interviews a dodgy estate agent)
Hahah, how would I ever find a dodgy estate agent 😂😂😂 I'm with you Glenn, I couldn't live there but I love a paddle boarding session down there with the Albufeira SUP crew.
Hi Nick, my family and I love your channel. Best contents EVER. You're awesome. After all this COVID BS ;) i will definitely come there with my family to meet your lovely family...God bless :)
Thanks for doing these Nick, I've been reviewing a lot of the City\Town video recently because I'm coming in early February for a scouting trip, very informative!
Albufeira is completely different to what I first saw 45 years ago, but it is still amazing. I was there twice in 2020 between lockdowns. I love having a beer in the square in the evening, and the beaches of Maria Luisa or Santa Eulalia to the west in the day.
Amazing informations for everyone who is interested in the Algarve. Although we have been there many times we found a lot of helpful informations for our next visit. Hope we will be there soon.
@@dinaaa8164 It's difficult to make a decision. I love to walk along the cliff with that wonderful view of the beach at Praia da Falésia or the coastline near Praia de Albandeira. On the other hand I love the wideness east of Vale do Lobo at Ria Formosa. Every corner has it’s own quality. I hope we can be back lately in Dezember. Playing Golf. Walking along the beach and having dinner at Maria's.
Love it out of season. Still up for the odd night out so it’s a thumbs up for me. Stay there, hire a car and get out in the day, have a drink at night, what’s not to love?
Hey there I'm from Portugal, from Lisbon more specifically, I used to live in Amadora just outside Lisbon near Sintra ,but now I live in England, Great yarmouth near Norwich, I love all your videos, great work 👍
We first started to come to the Algarve in 1987 when my mother in law bought a time share in Vilamoura. In those days Olas dAgua was a little village quite separate to Albufeira. Albufeira was just starting to grow but was was still very qaint. 20 years later we bought a villa in Senhora da Rocha and really didn't visit Albufeira for many years. We took a day trip in 2010 and we were dismayed with the massive change to a homogenised European cheap resort.
Thanks, Nick, great video! One thing I have noticed in watching your videos is when you switch to music it gets very very loud. Perhaps you could turn down the music a little bit when recording? We really enjoy learning from your videos, keep them coming!
Great video, a lot of useful information. I'm a UK ex-pat living in Canada and plan to visit Albufeira and other parts of the Algarve when the Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. I have friends from the UK that visit Olhos de agua, I think that might be far enough away from the party areas in summer. Cheers
Hi Randy, possibly 70% of the bars and restaurants close in winter. So it's fairly sleepy. High season for beaches is June, July and August. Shoulder seasons are April May and September October I guess.
Hello Nick. You're awesome. thanks for helping us make a decision. ive been to Algarve last summer and i would not mind living there, but cant afford the 500k for the golden visa. im working toward that goal. greetings from cold Canada.

Hi Nick, I’m making my way through all your Algarve Addict videos and wondering if you discuss whether it’s possible to live car-free and get around by bike and public transit in the Algarve. Thanks
Hi there gsstr, I don't discuss that, although I have addressed it in a few comments. From my point of view, it's tough to live car free in an area like the Algarve. If you're in a centralised city like New York or London it's easy as the public transport is great, in the Algarve we have a 150km long linear collection of towns which makes it more difficult (but not impossible).
I love Albufeira,my only advice is to stay clear of the bars & restaurants that cater for tourists. There are some very good Portuguese restaurants offering delicious local food.
Self service drive in car washes are on every block in the US, costs roughly $3 Here in Brasil I have not seen self service but lots of LAVA JATO car cleaning shops ranging from $5-10 usd
Great information. The beaches are certainly nothing less than amazing. I am past my partying stage in life. But would love to try the restaurants on the beach with a beer 🍻 or some Portuguese 🍷. I'm assuming there are many communities where us old folks can live and avoid the people enjoying their youth.
What are the heaviest tourist months. I remember living in Florence Italy over 20 years ago, that about March 10th I would leave the city as much as possible and go out to the less visited smaller towns because Florence was awash in tourists for a few months. What are the worst months in Albufeira, April to Sept, July to Sept? Might be a good time to rent out the space, visit another country or come back home for a few months!
Many of my Portuguese friends hate Albufeira, because of the so many tourists. I spent my very first Algarve holiday there and I really enjoyed it. Though there were some really weird English tourists there. 😄 I only visited the amazing beaches in the surrounding areas and never the beach in the Albufeira center because that was too crowded and not so charming. Yes Portuguese pronunciations are tough for a lot of foreigners. My buddy Joen (from Stay Classy UA-cam channel) has some fun ways of saying place names and he's from Denmark.
Yeah, it was a bit odd, I've never done that before. I put grated cheese and ham into a wrap, popped it into the toaster and then filled it with egg. It wasn't the best :)
Can anyone answer the question ... “Why were the Moors not immediately repelled when they came here from Africa? Why did people not fight for their land ? It’s an interesting answer ! ( well I think it is !😂) Your wife might know Nick...... The truth is; they lowered taxes ! So; although the Portuguese didn’t really adopt the “Islam“, they were happy that the (Moorish) administration charged lower taxes on trade and land !
I'm one of the haters. Albufeira has the worst food in all of Portugal. You can't even buy a Bifana at the snack-bars there because all the food is tailored for Brits. Facepalm.
Thanks for the lovely video about Albufeira. I just need to point that you forgot to mention that a lot if not all of these punch ups that occur in Albufeira are caused by you English people/ tourists that can’t behave themselves and give the place a bad name. The younger (Portuguese) demographic do not behave like that.
I don't like old town albufeira. It has nothing in the streets on small tourist shops. Very basic looking place. It has a UK atmosphere. No local people in the area. And no local cars. Full of small coffee shops and to many party places. Its very plain looking.. The only good part of it is the beautiful beach.... Your better off visting Spain

Yes Portuguese pronunciations are tough for a lot of foreigners. My buddy Joen (from Stay Classy UA-cam channel) has some fun ways of saying place names and he's from Denmark.
Easy over eggs ... but what happened next ? Some kind of wrap ?
Yeah, it was a bit odd, I've never done that before. I put grated cheese and ham into a wrap, popped it into the toaster and then filled it with egg. It wasn't the best :)
You live in Portugal?
I sure do. I've lived here for 20 years.
@@AlgarveAddicts can you assist in Residency permit?
Hi Rajeev, I can't but my lawyer can. Get in touch with me www.algarveaddicts.com/contact and I'll introduce you.
Albufeira it is only for shake a head, adrenalina end alcool
I can't deny that! What's "shake a head", e um frase em Português?
@@AlgarveAddicts sim, abanar a cabeça (discoteca)
Obrigado José
Excellent video. Albufeira is not my cup of tea.
Thanks Piotr, me either. Maybe when I was younger.
ok bye bye
@@AlgarveAddicts Hello Algarve Addicts which is a nice place to live in Algarve>
Hi Dina, I suggest you have a look at my video on "Where to live in the Algarve". 👍🏼
Can anyone answer the question ...
“Why were the Moors not immediately repelled when they came here from Africa?
Why did people not fight for their land ?
It’s an interesting answer !
( well I think it is !😂)
Your wife might know Nick......
The truth is; they lowered taxes !
So; although the Portuguese didn’t really adopt
the “Islam“, they were happy that the (Moorish) administration charged lower taxes on trade and land !
Albufeira?
I hate it. My teenage son and step daughter love it ! 😂
Albufeira does not represent Portugal, neither Algarve. It's a good place for young Europeans to get drunk with cheap wine or vodka.
Right on Carlos. 👍🏼
If you know only Albufeira or the Algarve, you are missing the rest of the country that is much better.
I agree there are some wonderful places around Portugal but personally I love the Algarve the best.
I'm one of the haters.
Albufeira has the worst food in all of Portugal. You can't even buy a Bifana at the snack-bars there because all the food is tailored for Brits. Facepalm.
What!!?? You don't like a full English on the beach before hitting the bars to get totally plastered by 11am?
@@glennwhitlock1272 nah man, binge drinking is anti-cultural.
Normal people enjoy their drinks relaxed without worrying about time.
Hehe, you guys are funny 😂
Thanks for the lovely video about Albufeira. I just need to point that you forgot to mention that a lot if not all of these punch ups that occur in Albufeira are caused by you English people/ tourists that can’t behave themselves and give the place a bad name. The younger (Portuguese) demographic do not behave like that.
That's absolutely true. Luckily I am not a young English person 🤣
Haha!
No need to visit Spain, just head down the road to Carvoeiro or Lagos.
