I think that fabric would make an awesome robe for your dad. It’s very fancy, he will love it and feel fantastic in it. Totally agree with you on handmade gifts.
Ah thank you. I do think it looks like fancy dressing gown fabric! Gift giving can be a bit fraught can’t it. I know I’ve felt obliged to keep things sometimes and I never want to put that on anyone else.
Debbie here 👋You are so right Hayley, choosing who you sew for is a must…😄 This vlog has come at the right time as I want to get started on Christmas gifts, just some pjs for my Granddaughters ready for 1st December so they get more wear out of them 😊 Love your fabric from Jenny Stitches x x
I am right there with you about Christmas. I think your dad will love it. I made my husband a dressing gown recently, but he wouldn't tolerate me holding up the pattern against him. Well, long story short it was too short. So I am still in the hole and need to make another dressing gown. I have been married to an engineer for almost 40 years. I have decided that I detest mending. Once someone knows I know how to sew I get tooooooo many requests.
@@marciahighsmith4820 could you add a band at the bottom for more length? That’s what I had to do with mine as I decided it was too short to be “guest appropriate” in summer when I wear a nightie. I too detest mending. But I love keeping things in circulation so I usually force myself. I too get requests but I am ruthless about saying “no” (unless you are a true gem in my life who I know would do anything for me) 😂
@@alwaysinthecraftroom So, I will mend my clothes and Bill's, but not anyone's else, well, my mother in law had me to take in 11 pairs of pants. She is gentle on her clothes, so it was the unpicking that took so long, then I pinned the seams and sewed them up, boxed everything and stood in line at the post office. That was the actually the worst part. I don't like crowds as I have a side effect disease which leaves me with limited immunity to everyone's diseases. Got to love the gifts remedies for one ailment can leave you with something else. My son in law had ripped out the seat of two pairs of shorts and I just said I can't repair that, it was too far gone. Back in the 90's we would sew a long pocket on the back of small quilts to make it easy to hang. I remember putting one on a dowel with a decorative cord at the that went up so it only required one hole in the wall.
To have a hidden dowel a couple of squares folded in a triangle in the top corners sewn so the folded edge looks towards the middle of the calendar (I’m not explaining very well sorry I’ll edit to add a link to a tutorial if I can find the one I watched)you’ll need to bind or sew a seam on the outside edge. ua-cam.com/video/iVZ5Q5pDh_Y/v-deo.htmlsi=mhHNmLwz7PzqdRdh
@@lynnenicholson6968 thank you so much this is amazing! I can make triangles (I’ll turn them out so they are finished on all sides) then I can just stitch along my binding going over the stitching that’s already there and it will be virtually invisible. Thank you so much! Job for the weekend sorted 🤗
I think the fabric is perfect for a dressing gown, and your parents obviously liked it, because they bought it. That cable fabric isn't nice to wear, I agree, I made a cardigan in it a few years ago and hated wearing it.
Yeah, it does not seem like great fabric to me... maybe there are different qualities going around, because I have seen people really pleased with it 🤷🏻♀️

@@ddsewsagain great idea on giving Christmas PJs early for more wearing time! Jenny is so lovely and all her fabric is exactly to my taste… dangerous!
Omg my brother is like your husband, and he's an engineer/project manager. It drives me nutters.
It is most appropriate to give it to your dad. She chose the fabric, she likes it…Go for it!
Aw thank you, I think I have nearly convinced myself. Now I just have to hope there's enough 😂

@@alwaysinthecraftroom your welcome. Always happy to help.

Thank you, I’m glad to have had some reassurance! It seems I’m not the only one who doesn’t like cable knit after all 🤔
That cable fabric bobbles really badly inside in my experience
