What an inspirational adventure! It reminds me of the stories described by "Adirondack" Murray and "Seneca" Ray Stoddard, that brought "sports" coming to the Adirondacks and keeps them coming back. Thanks Jesse for posting.
Absolutely awesome trip! Thank you for the wonderful video of your journey. I live on the Upper West Side (from Brooklyn 😉)and i am planning a trip with my Toyota Sienna minivan camper. i am going to drive/camp/ explore, following the river north to Mt Marcy over a couple weeks this summer. i look forward to learning some history of the towns and cities along the river. There is something very primal about following the physical land connections we share with others and wondering what it is they see when they look at a river we share like the Hudson. Well done! 🛶👍🏻🏞🇺🇸🌞🌇
Thanks! was able to dodge the corporate jungle. Currently living on a sailboat with my girlfriend and daughter. Your comment has inspired me to get the GoPro out and will document our sail down the Bahamas in Dec.
@@jessehooker9803 Thanks for the response! One more question: was it navigable with the pack raft from Lake Tear of the Clouds? Or did you have to hike it from there? Where were you able to put in?
Awesome adventure! I would like to do something similar some day and was curious: 1. Which kayaks did you use? Alpacka Yukon (from another reply) 2. Which class whitewater did you encounter? 3. Did you have to get a permit? 4. How much did it cost to use the locks? 5. Do you know roughly what was your average speed after the Troy dam with the ebb? 6. From the Troy dam it's an estuary (affected by tides). Were the 135 miles from the dam to sea more easy going than the 180 miles from the source, Lake Tear of the Clouds, to the dam since there's less rapids and the river is wider from the dam to sea? Thanks for any info!
That’s true, I’ve never tried. The police presence around that statue prevents non commercial vessels from getting nearby. On this paddle trip we passed close to the NYC battery and headed up the easy river to Brooklyn
Cool trip! Looks like a lotta fun. Quite a bit of paddling! Ran the hudson yesterday from north river to north creek

This video should have way more views... great job and what an amazing and interesting achievement to have accomplished
Amazing journey , thank you I enjoyed watching !

Wow what an adventure. One day I’m going to do this. I’ve kayaked around the GWB before but damn the whole journey must be beautiful.
Oh what an epic adventure!! Absolutely epic epic epic !!!! I wonder why it only has such few views and 13 subscribers ?
Amazing video of such beautiful areas and views! I’ve always been curious about the top of the Hudson River, way up north.
Where did you disappear to? Into the vast corporate job driven jungles of NYC I suppose? Post more often Jesse ! Loved it.

@@jessehooker9803 cannot wait for that video !! Glad to know you're doing good. :)
Are you kidding me? That is just epic.
This is a great video of a trip a lot of us have on our bucket list! Thank you for posting it. Any tips for those of us yet to do it?
Thanks! Only advice would be make sure you take advantage of the Ebb tide below the Federal Lock in Troy.

Epic
Awesome, I’m from Long Island and I’m gonna go from the Catskills or Delaware Water Gap to NYC summer of 2018
It’s weird to think he paddled right by my house (stony point ny)
Hi Jesse!
I’m doing this trip in the spring to raise awareness for Veteran reintegration. I would to talk with you if you have some time.
Awesome! How'd it go?
U cray kray
Was it pretty calm waters after the Troy dam?
Who carried the canoes to the source ? I must have missed that in the video ?
We carried inflatable pack rafts, they roll up to the size of a tent
6:21 RIP Tappan Zee Bridge
What kind of packraft are those? Did the hold up well for the trip?
Alpacka Yukon. Very tough, highly recommend
Is there anyway I can contact you?

You can’t paddle to the Statue of Liberty
