    As someone who used to fall in love with such cute palettes I wanted to pass along how you could get any of those colors without the chalky fillers and beautiful colors. If you can purchase just a set of artist grade Winsor and Newton or any other artist/ pro half pan set plus one tube of white gouache you have every one of the pastel colors plus fully saturated colors. They won’t fade in the light like those. They made cute sets just like that even 30 years ago when I learned that most of the color was filler like children paints. Now I smile and make my own confection colors. Maybe some just would love to be able to make more colors that are professional and save some money. They even sell the same size tins that you can decorate. Take care. Happy painting. Holbein makes awesome white opaque gouache in a tube and many sell 12 tube professional sets through stores like Blick’s, Cheap Joe’s art supplies, Jackson’s. Or one can buy 12 -5 ml tubes then a couple of white titanium gouache tubes and have a mixing party.

      Thank you so much for the tip; I really do love these colors, but the chalkiness can be a real bother. 😔 I’ll have to try the method you mentioned here out, it sounds like so much fun to mix my own colors! 😊💞
      (I pinned this comment so that others can hopefully see it too! ❤️)

      I think it's meant as a convenience palette, for people who want access to the pastel colors right away. Might be useful on a trip or something like that, in a sketchbook the lightfastness is probably fine. But you can also make your own travel palette

    Your voiceover was good, no worries! Dang I think I want the pastel dreams, and my favorite color out of the vintage was that dusty rose one. oof

      Sammi Spaghetti The pastel set is so candy sweet; I haven’t found a use for it yet, lol. The Vintage pallets is one of my favorites though. Rose, Sage, and Suede really caught my eye! 😍❤️

    I love it! which is better?? I want to paint faces skin ... which one do you recommend? Thanxs!!

    • @unikoniiko
      @unikoniiko  4 роки тому +1

      Neither one is “better” per say, it just all depends on your taste! I like the Vintage pastels because I tend to use more muted tones. If you are looking to paint skin, Prima has a set of watercolors in a set like these, called ‘Prima Watercolor Complexions’.
      Out of the two that are shown in this video, I think Pastel Dreams would work better for skin.

      @@unikoniiko I know the "watercolor complexion" but I think I am not going to get as much out of it as these watercolour. thank you so much! you have help me to take a decision

    have you tried using both in the same drawing? i’m wondering if they pair well

    • @unikoniiko
      @unikoniiko  4 роки тому +1

      staruchii Absolutely. Picking one of the bright pastels and then pairing them with the more muted tones REALLY makes the bright color pop! ✨🌟
      Also the Vintage Pastel doesn’t really have a purple, the Lilac Rain in the Pastel Dreams set really makes up for that. There are so many lovely combinations. 😍❤️

    Neat video😁 May I know how transparent these are? And if they're chalky or anything🙂

    • @unikoniiko
      @unikoniiko  4 роки тому +1

      YOONGI_93 When mixed with water they are quite transparent. But as you can see with the swatches, when applied thickly, they are very opaque. Most of the colors actually covered the black numbers beneath them. As for the chalkiness; they definitely aren’t as smooth as more expensive watercolors. BUT I don’t think they are extremely chalky or anything. Most go down very smooth, especially when diluted with water. The more layering/buildup of paint, you may get a slight chalkiness, but it’s not bad enough to mention.
