Ok man, find some burl black walnut, that has some sapwood (purple striping) in it, and give that a whirl!! The hand wiped finish will jump out and getcha!!
Balustrades!? The uprights of a staircase handrail - different woods to make an amazing luxurious effect. And we get to see the finished staircase in a client's house or your house or maybe given to someone humbly worthy or a community-based or civic building!?
Could you make something really long and thin? I am thinking like a cane or a walking stick. So people could slip into older age with some beautiful bling to ease their way?
Anything but bowls, I feel like that's all you ever make, there are other things that can be turned, spindles, abstract statues, candle stick holders, you could even turn Christmas decorations, just please take a break from all the freaking bowls.
This was one of the most unique wood you have used. It's beautiful, I have never seen that wood before. At first I had no idea how you were going to go after it. Damn brother, it is absolutely amazing
@@JackMackWoodturning Slow and steady brother, been looking for some guys to jam with, and oh man, I have met some real want a bes, but I am ging to lay off the music for a while. what happening on your end on the pond?
That'd be the most unusual piece I've seen you make. Somehow, sort of reminds me of turtle shell. Definitely something right out of left field. I like it!
Well, unusual to say the least. Clashed with my OCD tendencies at first, then I changed my mind and love the piece. Genius exploitation of the burred grain - a definite one-off.
You have some mad skills there, sir! How did you feel once it was complete? It's absolutely stunning! I love it when the oils are added. The transformation is always amazing to me. I know nothing about wood, so please forgive me if this is a silly question, but did you know there'd be that beautiful red wood inside before you turned it, or was it a nice surprise to you too when it revealed itself? Beautiful work, thank you for sharing.
I’m not a fan of the wings. Can’t you turn the center bowl and then hand carve the wings to make a larger oblong bowl, instead of having flat wings? Just a thought. It’s a beautiful piece.
No… you have to think in 3 dimensions.. there is no wood there to turn that into a bowl… the sides are too thin for that. the biggest bowl that could come Out of this piece Was the one I turned .
@@JackMackWoodturningsome people just have to pick. It's more about the process for me. The end result is never gonna be for everyone. But everyone should be able to enjoy the process and the craftsmanship that goes into it.
What an incredible piece of art. Your balls must be the size of Alaska Jack Mack I caught myself flinching a couple of times. Your skill level is way up there. Well done. Would a cedar burl be too soft to turn?
"Just a few minutes, no problem"!!! Right? Man, your skill and use of equipment is fantastic! That burl dish is really nice looking!! I could look at different grains and patterns all day long!! PS, you had my behind puckering up, when you go closer to those outer knows, when turning on the lathe (saw a disaster of a fellow students mishap, while in Junior High School shop), so BE VERY CAREFUL MAN. Peace.
Wow. I’ve seen you carve a lot of really weird looking (to me) pieces of wood into gorgeous things, but I’m dying to know: where the heck do you get all these things? Do people mail them to you, or is there a website full of alien-egg lookin’ stuff you browse until a piece chooses you? Really gorgeous bowl!
I oftentimes feel nervous watching you do this. I know you are a master craftsman, but it still scares me a little bit when they're shaped so oddly. In particular if they have branches or roots sticking out all over the place!😅 I love watching you do what you do. Keep up the good work!
If you could watch me turn anything what would it be.

Turned out gorgeous. Glad you kept the wings so we could see all that amazing color.
Amazing how you turn that dog's breakfast of a burl into a beautiful piece. Your skill is off the charts.
Maybe if you deep fried it, you could eat it, then it would be a person's lunch.
Turned out real nice. No tear out with all that crazy grain direction. Beautiful
Spectacular! One of these days I'll play with one of those burls...need more practice first...
Great use of color change in design that you didnt just make a round bowl. Thanks for all the ASMR change of turning video speeds.
Something calming and soothing about this beauty

WOW! 💥. So beautiful, love the colours in the wood! Thankyou for sharing. 👏😮🇦🇺
That would be a stunning wall clock!❤
Nerves of steel! One of those 'wings' could have so easily come apart from the piece. Incredible result!

Well Jack! This is a golden treasure 😍

Hi definitely in the world of the one-offs. 👍🐝🌞
Magnificent!
Beautiful finish for such a dramatic burl… how many times did it at least try to knock the gouge out of your hand?
Kinda looks like a Bird. Feeder/Bath 😁.

Always love your creations! Question, is there ever a piece of burl big enough so the ‘knobbiness shows on the outside of the creation??

Great work, you might need to signify that it's not an ashtray although it does look like a very attractive piece of smoking paraphernalia, 😉🚬
Lovely, that! Can I ask what the finish is that you've used on this piece?
I would love to buy this.
