Thanks for this very helpful video on essential tools for the kitchen. My 5 children are all in their 30’s and building their kitchen tool collections. They all are great cooks and the 3 boys do most of the cooking for their families. Also, my goddaughter is newly engaged and will be needing to develop her kitchen essentials. This is great for giving family and friends ideas for shower and wedding gifts. 🤗

I have all but a micro plane & chinois.
I have my dad’s old chef knife. It’s probably 50 years old, we keep it razor sharp.
    I agree-GLASS mixing bowls!
Now all I need are your cooking skills & your talent!
    Thanks for sharing. 😊

I'm so proud to say that i have every single tool you mentioned EXCEPT the knife sharpener - my steel hone seems to suffice just fine. I threw my chinois away-too bulky for my small space. Enjoyed the tools video and enjoying your channel. ty. My very favorite peeler is by Kyocera used mainly for carrots. And you're right, tools last long time by hand washing and drying. I baby all my tools.

I am so glad you mentioned the plastic storage containers. I got tired of trying to match lids with containers of all those cute containers about 3 years ago and went that route that you suggested to others. My only added cost was masking tape and a sharpie to mark what was in the container and date. Great for freezers too. My life became cheaper, simpler and now have more storage room. Love them.

Thanks! A very helpful video for a novice home cook like me! I recently bought a good santoku knife and it was one of the best kitchen investment I made. Next is a grater. Haven’t decided if I want a plane or a box grater yet though. Small kitchen problem. 😂

The chinois can be cheaply replaced (and saves space, too) by those almond milk cheese cloths. Put it over a strainer and there you go.

a little dark in color that's that beautiful patina doesn't make the pan any different it works the exact same" This is actually incorrect. Would add food grade mineral oil. Not just for the cutting boards but for all wood such as handles, spoons and spatulas. I start out every day with a cutting board before using and every other day with utensils and handles. After two weeks it gets used. After a month, then every other day. eventually it goes to once a month. Probably anal retentive but it still looks gorgeous after 30+ years.
