I don't understand why she's very underappreciated by the black community. I personally place her higher than Aretha for greatness. Her discography is more amazing.
Sorry sir u don’t get to decide for black community who our most treasured stars. R we love them all but we hold Aretha in the most high regard because mainstream America had to crossover to listen to her she didn’t crossover to them u made the world love her voice in. It’s most natural traditionally black form an tone that’s why she was a musical queen to us
I grew listening to Dionne because she was one of my father's favorite singers. Shock to hear that alot of blacks didn't appreciated her. I for one did and still do. And i am black.
Even today, her show audiences are predominantly white. Her appeal was mainstream vs. Aretha who, for many years, appealed largely to R&B audiences. I think it's because her music was more Easy Listening genre vs R&B. Her popularity faded in the '70s (during the time of this video) and, but for the Spinners duet, hadn't had a hit in a while until her comeback album, DIONNE, in 1979.
Michael, I seem to always be one step behind you, but you sir are spot on with your assessment of Miss Warwick...she is and always be a unique treasure
one of a legend singer n retro music of the 70"s reminds my younger years my first crush n recalls my past history of my life and of course david bacharack' most off all the love song that melodic sound in my ears wow wonderful awesome
I think you are right. Much younger, and physically slighter here, than she was when she moved to Australia, But her facial features look very similar here.
