This particular concert is very interesting. Dionne is at her vocal BEST this particular performance. Which in previous years 86’-89’ if you watch her performances and concert you notice a difference vocally in all of those performances and this one. She really PUSHED herself this particular concert and it’s refreshing to see! I wish I could view the entire concert in one clip.
This is beautiful. However, her best performance of this medley is at it's greatest in "An Evening With Dionne Warwick: Park West". Now that was Dionne Warwick at her top form!
@@jmendleson19 yassss! When she got to "Make It Easy On Yourself" in that medley, she seemed to have surprised her own self! I remember wondering: 'What in the world did Ms. Dionne have for breakfast this morning?!' Lol
@@michaelwarren7962 listennnn, when she hit it that second time & flew up to that F5 & G5, i said okay, Dionne had a good nights rest, & a hearty breakfast cus sis was singing!! Then the very last note she hit (A5) . I said okay Ms Dionne, i ain’t messing with you girl lol
yes, she is croakier now, but her ability to communicate the emotion and clarity of a song remains undimmed. I saw her lately, coming out of a cold and it took her a few songs to warm up, but once she did, she was incredible. But, yes, in a slightly different way. Her tone is so rich and expressive, she does so much with it. Brilliant talent still IMO.
No, this is not when her voice started to go. It was wonderful then. I have heard her recently and her voice is a lot lower. I think she has lost her upper range maybe due to smoiking and/or age. She is 72. However, she still got standing ovations and she can still sing, but much lower. I wonder if she didn't smoke, would she still have the range? Still, one of the greats of all time, and 1 of my favorites.
It is amazing that anyone who understands the voice-and Dionne’s voice specifically-could hear and see this rendition of “Don’t Make Me Over” with lyric and note omissions, the dodges at the end of “Anyone Who Had a Heart”, the greater presence of backing vocalists (when years prior she often carried vocal performances entirely solo and without such additional support) and the more frequent breath pauses and shortened notes throughout yet not admit that, while she could still capably carry a concert and sound pleasant at it, her voice was past its peak here.
Oh I agree @friendofthe diva, but she really IS very croaky now so I won`t go and see her live anymore...but we have the recordings and clips such as these!
From 1986-90 I think Dionne was at the top of her game. By the Brazilian concert in 1993, she was beginning her decline. She was good for a song or two by 2000 but she didn't have the upper range, and also got winded on her longer notes. By her Syracuse concert in 2003, she was not in great shape. I personally wouldn't spend money on her concert today, but these videos do capture an incredible performer, singer and artist. Thanks for sharing.

Dionne was wearing that pink dress & singing like she was the only singer in the world

Nice seeing her sister Dee Dee backing her.
Her voice had started to "go" around this time, but she still does a good job and appears poised and commanding.
Yes she was beginning to lose some of her highs and power but this night she was still in top form!
Good ....
man her vocal stamina is ridiculous. she makes this look like a piece of cake, a gorgeous one.
Dionne at her top performance . Gorgeus and elegant.
It is amazing that these arm chair critics who don't know a damn thing about the voice seems to know when the a singer's voice starts to "go".

What a treat! We also get to hear DeeDee sing her sister's songs
최고.
