Really old video but it popped up in my recommendations. But, 9.4 seconds is VERY slow for this car. My friend has a 2011 Sonata SE 2.4 and it gets about 7.2-7.5 consistently with the same motor and transmission. It’ll also do 130.
yeah that's very slow. 7.8-8.0 is what most publications like consumer reports and such got out of it. so unless hes in denver or something i'm not sure where he got 9.4 seconds.
@KatiushaVN4 *correction---your TSX goes 0-60 in 8.7 seconds, not much faster then the 8.9 seconds in the 4 cyl. in the optima's, and the V6 is faster by 1 second. I think we know who the FAIL is here.
Finally better sense prevailed, Thanks to Peter (Kia CEO) for redefining Kia and restoring it's reputation. I had a Kia Sportage, that I hated as much I love this Optima got today. It's a well built car with so many features, that stands up and in some cases supercede camery, acord etc..
@windowspczone Yes Voks and other brands all have a manual option. It's just that the automatic is more of a premium option and it's what testers look for too see if the hear shift is done properly.
@TechGeek95 it depends on what you like. optima is more sporty with more tech. they're basically the same engine wise so you should just look at pictures of interior/exterior and take your pick from there
Does the guy who did this review drive one of the cars he compares this car to? Anyway I think its a very attractive especially us college students who don't really NEED a lexus Or BMW just to get to and from school which is a 30 min daily drive.
Inactive Inactive the Malibu is nice but agree the Optima is really nice inside. I have seen a Malibu up close and personal because a year or so ago I rear ended one in my pickup and totaled both cars.
@KatiushaVN4 Your facts are sadly wrong. The acura TSX first off is a Small sedan, This kia optima is a Midsized sedan. Your acura goes 0-60 in 7.7 seconds with the 201 HP 4 cylinder engine, while the acura's V6 is 6.4 seconds with a 280 HP Engine. The Kia here has a 4 cylinder 0-60 of 8.9 seconds due to its larger size with the 192 HP engine, and the V6 at 274 HP goes 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Now do you see the difference?
Mejevoli they do their testing in San Francisco, higher elevation so the car doesn’t breath correctly. This affects it dramatically because it's a 4 cylinder, it has a lot of weight on its shoulders and its breathing is important to its performance.

Nah mine is around 7.0-7.5 even with eco mode it wont take 9 sec,maybe in a very high altitude,,

Ive seen many reviews say its just under 8 seconds to 60 for the base motor

@happyturtle18 A V6 is not offered on the Optima. It is a turbo 4 cylinder.

@BetterDayz19 there is a manual but its on the lx and the lower standard of the ex i believe.

I still sorta like the Sonata better, it looks alot more classy and higher end.

@KatiushaVN4 its actually 8.9 seconds, and that's the 4 cylinder, V6 0-60 is 6.5 seconds and gets almost identical fuel economy, so no fail here.
