Love mine....2011 Ultimate with 89k odo. The Rolls BMW and Merc guys out my way all impressed with it. They still can't believe it is a Hyundai 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Always a great conversation starter 😀 The 2011 body style and the 2020 are very classy.
Hyundai is making bold game changing moves which displays expertise and most importantly confidence. Like in any competitive endeavor, you know who your competition is. Hyundai is saying; I can beat you at this without any tricks, marketing strategies or class separation. Were coming at the world straight up, and on regular gas. 15 years ago Hyundai was the laughing stock, now other manufactures are trying to look the other way, or wondering what happened. Hyundai is now the 4th largest car company in the world. Adapt or Die.
I own a 750i and the Equus. When I get ready to go out on the town guess which key I'm grabbing for?.. I'll give you a hint, it's been two weeks since I drove my 750i
kolashnokov I have the 2011, and it is a head turner!. I have had zero maintenance issues with it. I love it. My BMW has more power and a smoother ride but in EVERY other aspect my Equus best my BMW. I highly recommend the 2011 Equus. You can get a luxurious car that you want see another at every corner.
kolashnokov The body style 2011 thru 13 are exactly the same nothing really changed. The 14 did a rim change and rear tail light change but pretty much look exactly like an 11. The 14 added some additional technology the 11 don't have and stiffened up the steering. Engine is a bit more powerful in the 14 yr model but nothing extremely noticeable. Me personally, I like the more classical look of the 11-13 models. Either way u can get a used 11 thru 14 with very LOW miles for just under 20k dollars. Wow
kolashnokov The K900 is a beautiful car. I don't know much about it performance or maintenance wise, but it is an absolutely beautiful car. With it also you want see one on every corner like you do with BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Kia and Hyundai have the best warranties in the business and to me that says a lot. They stand behind their vehicles. While German cars are hailed as the upper tier of luxury and performance, they suck at reliability. At 70k miles my 750i started smoking out the tail pipe when in idle for long period or when stuck in traffic. Took it to the dealer and was told this was a "common problem" with the BMW 7 series, a valve seal problem and this common problem cost me almost 4k$ to repair. Have also had to replace 02 sensor and clutch plate on the steptronic transmission for another cool 3k$, and my BMW even isn't close to a 100k miles yet. The Equus or the K900 is in my opinion the best way to go. You get the opulence and luxury of the German automakers but without the expensive maintenance and terrible reliability issues. You also get the added joy of being unique. I love being asked what is it when I drive my Equus. I love people asking me is it a Bentley (mine has the chrome 4D Equus hood ornament on the front). I love not seeing another one like it in my town. So for all those reasons, I recommend you get either the Equus or the k900.
i was at Hyundai dealership yesterday getting new Elantra... and waiting for them to finish washing and preping the car i fell asleep inside the Equus, its amazing
aside from the leg-crushing problem, seems like the back seats are the best place to be in that car. Seems he also forgot to mention the sun shades for the rear windows too.
Here we are May 2020, and yup,! I purchased a 2014 Equus Top model fully loaded exec line for 14k and only 43k miles. It's my new daily driver for work commuting. Near Seattle so this is great to relax during the crappy rush hour traffic we have that lasts all day for some reason. One owner, garaged, serviced at Hyundai along to the owners manual. Everything done right. I straight piped it and removed nearly 100 lbs in mufflers, resonators etc. Kept the cats so it will run correctly. Installed Genesis sedan R spec lowering springs, and got it tuned in Bothell WA. She's putting 389 HP to the wheels now. So far I'm loving my Hot Rod Equus. Only one I'm sure in all N America that has mods done to it like I did. Was considering a K900 , I prefer the way that looks but I went old school with 1st Gen Equus.
Dear CNET, please note that the Equus has ALWAYS used a unique badge since its first release a decade(?) ago. Not sure exactly, but when I visited Korea during the 2002 World Cup, I saw many Equus.
@HAMWI253 No, Hyundai is a minority interest stock holder of Kia. They have one of two board of director members on Kia's board. That is it. They are still regarded as direct competitors that share the same core parts.
Hyundai EQUUS looks like a mix of honda, lexus, lincoln, buick, and even bmw !!!!! Do u ever get such hell of a car hyundai!!!!!! Way to go hyundai!!!!
I don't know if the equus has been updated since this video was made, but if you go on the hyundai website it says that it has 429 horsepower, and an 8 speed automatic transmission! So there is a chance that it is even better now than it was in this video!
Hyundai is taking a different path. Unlike Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura, Ford/Lincoln. I think they want to establish themselves as a Full Range Brand which would technically allow them to dominate the entire industry. Due to the fact that one brand/name caters to all customers/incomes
@matrixloader Its a Hyundai 8 speed automatic, not a ZF. One of only 4 manufacturers that have the know-how and skills to make their own 8 speed automatic transmission.
love this reviewer!! He's funny and makes watching car reviews entertaining!! Nearly convinced me to go and buy this dam car!! Then i remembered and looked at the badge! Hyundai??? WTF
Nice car for hyundai. I see people still don't respect it. I just don't trusted some of those german cars, too expensive to maintain and want way too much for tech. Electricial problems. Hyundai is going to be on top in the future
Overall, I love this car, I do agree with the critic in that the car truly is meant for short people. The critic looks like hes about 5'8 and he can barely use the backseat footrest, can you imagine if a 6'2 guy like me tried sitting in there? And the fact that the navigator screen isn't touch was also a minor flaw, but still nice regardless
You should see the face of a BMW owner after being owned by a Hyundai. I almost felt sorry for the guy. Its like reality, frustration and stupidity hit him at the same time, I think he may have thew up.
Dear CNET, i hope you see this. Im not here to troll. However, I was extremely surprised at how horrible your car journalists were, but then i saw this guy! He is awesome, good humour, good detail, good everything. What gave me this bad taste was whoever it is you had review the Tacoma Baja edition... He consistantly got things wrong about the vehicle and literally made a fool of CNET attempting automotive reviews... you should really fix that.
Absolutely gorgeous luxury saloon. The badging is of the winged horse 🐎, the Pegasus. Reliability is of paramount importance to me, something that no German car can ever deliver at any price point, at least not since the 1980's. Ravi Peiris M.D.
@blazecyberman totally agree, hyundai has been doing great, sonata, accent, genesis, elantra and the new veloster hyundai has improve dramatically in recent years. But with the Equus i think Hyundai is pushing it too far i dont believe many people are willing to pay 60k$ for a hyundai when they can show off in a BMW,Mercedes,Lexus etc for that kind of money. The most importan reason people buy those brand i mentioned is for show off and for 60k$ you can show off in other premium brands instead.
I like his reviews, but he's a little to harsh and biased at times. I'm not hatin, but I'm just sayin, you could talk more positively about the car, while still pointing out some lagging points. I hate it when I really like the car, but halfway through these videos I hear like 10 things that are bad about it, then I really get turned off. Criticism is good, but it should be controlled to an extent. Thank You for the hard work you all put into these videos though.
@yoyoluc, Haha.uuh no! I own a 2011 E550 and upon driving the Equus, I was extremely impressed. It's going to set a whole new standard and give value a new meaning. As a Mercedes owner for years, I'm ready to trade it in to jump into this very fine automobile that not everyone and their grandmas have. It's the worst feeling when everyone around you drives the same damn car. Hence, Mercedes in a high end area. So unoriginal. Most people who make ignorant comments about Hyundai never even drove it
Nice Video but no way will I pay 58k for an un-badged car, let alone a Hyundai! It is good to see them stepping it up and making the other car makers take notice.
@GMT4ful THe equus is really their first luxury car even though this is its older sister to the 2011 version but all they did was put in a better engine and little mods to the interior. First time things rarely beats competitors. I'm not saying they won't ever im just saying not right now.
also go and compare it to the Audi A7 and A8. in order for the power delivery to be extremely smooth in a very heavy car (which is most luxury sedans) you need a high amount of torque. horsepower is the raw power produced by the engine and supplied to the wheels. torque is rotational power applied. for these cars you need high torque at relatively low RPMs to have smooth delivery. the Equus has 376 ft-lbs. @ 5000 rpm...what kind of luxury car would be revving to 5000 RPM exactly?
@jxtsful even with a drop of 24 percent toyota still sold about 111,000 vehicles in june and hyundai sold 59,000. in 2010 Toyota (Includes Scion) - Down 0.6 percent to 1,534,266 and in 2010 Hyundai - Up 24 percent to 538,228 thats a million car difference a lot
the A8 is $10k more. Speaking from a new car...you're not going to need any maintenance. The brakes are vented discs...all you would need is brake pad replacement just like any other car. the A7 is actually pretty much the exact price. apologies again for comparing it to an avalon...but an equally equipped new avalon hits near $45k which i don't really consider 'cheap'. And i assume, and i could be wrong, that people able to spend about 60-65k on a car won't mind spending a bit more
I know it's your opinion also mine but you still didn't answer my question..what more equipment does it have that the $65k Equus doesn't? saying it's just better without giving details makes you sound... ignorant. S350 6v 240hp = $90k excluding all the optional safety + comfort packages..you get nothing compared to this $65k v8 429hp vehicle..that's a fact not an opinion.
Nice but both Hyundai and kia are brands that scare me. Both have had issues with the 10 year warranty when it comes to honoring it. Also quality over time as some of these cars tend to go brittle.
I agree with the guy's statement that the Equus is just an extension of Hyundai's value marketing. In this case, they make a car that's 90% as good as an s-class....for 60% of the price. I respect hyundai for moving up in the auto world, and the genesis is nice, but $60k for a Hyundai? Surely there has to be a limit....
Hyundai has a new 5.0 GDI with 8 speed ZF automatic for both the Genesis and Equus for 2012. it makes 429hp and 376tq over all for the price this car is awesome at that price. lets see for this price i can either buy a Bmw 5 series , cadillac cts, acura RL or the Fully loaded Equus. you just cant beat the value you get with the Equus.
@Nexumbiker110 Yes of course I also think a 7 Series or a Maybach is better than a Equus, but comparing a freacking 3 or 5 series or a C class with an Equus is moronic. Well I have driven a Honda fit very fun to drive too so whats ur point? :D
This car is really good value for money, however Hyundai just needs to launch a new brand name. The only problem with this car is the name. Its still a Hyundai. People who want this kind of car would rather have a recognizable brand name like BMW or Mercedes.
good review, car seems like a great buy. too bad about that reclining rear seat. idea seems awesome, but implementation isn't so great. if only that front seat could tumble more out of the way.
This guy is an excellent reviewer. He has personality and emotional tone that really reflects how he feels about the car.
Bryan has the kind of personality that makes everyone remind them of their self.
Love mine....2011 Ultimate with 89k odo. The Rolls BMW and Merc guys out my way all impressed with it. They still can't believe it is a Hyundai 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Always a great conversation starter 😀 The 2011 body style and the 2020 are very classy.

for a baller on a budget
for a poor baller....
Hyundai has been really stepping up their game. Makes me kind of want a Hyundai now, really nice cars for the money you pay.
I hate when automotive journalists review cars based on emotions instead of logic. This is a great car
Hyundai is making bold game changing moves which displays expertise and most importantly confidence. Like in any competitive endeavor, you know who your competition is. Hyundai is saying; I can beat you at this without any tricks, marketing strategies or class separation. Were coming at the world straight up, and on regular gas.

kolashnokov I agree completely. I like the G90 and in about 4 or 5 years I will buy a 2018 G90..lol..
kolashnokov The K900 is a beautiful car. I don't know much about it performance or maintenance wise, but it is an absolutely beautiful car. I test drove one with the same colors I must say this car is luxurious and very beautifully done nice job Hyundai
i was at Hyundai dealership yesterday getting new Elantra... and waiting for them to finish washing and preping the car i fell asleep inside the Equus, its amazing
this guy should be in top gear.. best intro ever.
Brian Cooley is one of the best car reviewer. he is honest, independent, and very his own. i really le brian cooley's reviews.
This guy should not be commenting on the polished wheels, some like them some don't, i like them but to each his own as it's not a quality issue...
He's just giving his personal opinion.
aside from the leg-crushing problem, seems like the back seats are the best place to be in that car. Seems he also forgot to mention the sun shades for the rear windows too.
HYUNDIA IS ULTRA PERFORMANCE #1SAFE. IT SEEMS TO IDENTIFY ROAD PRECAUTIONARY PROBLEMS. I LOVE MY HYUNDIA!
You prove me right: A good residue value of a Benz doesn't need to be promised. On the other hand, time will tell.
wow...! , that's an awesome car for that price...
Damn this guy really good at reviewing cars
The beauty about this car is that in 4 years it will be valued at 15 grand easily even less
Here we are May 2020, and yup,! I purchased a 2014 Equus Top model fully loaded exec line for 14k and only 43k miles. It's my new daily driver for work commuting. I just got a 2011 equus ultimate with 85k miles for only 8k. I’m in love, to say the least.
Nothing surprising but that value does it all
watch his other reviews and this is actually quite positive
Flipping the bird at the Horses ass. Best Line ever Brian Cooley. Do you write this stuff? Great Job.
Dear CNET, please note that the Equus has ALWAYS used a unique badge since its first release a decade(?) ago. Not sure exactly, but when I visited Korea during the 2002 World Cup, I saw many Equus.
@HAMWI253
No, Hyundai is a minority interest stock holder of Kia. They have one of two board of director members on Kia's board. That is it. They are still regarded as direct competitors that share the same core parts.
And the sound of a class action can be heard.
ok we got it. you dont like the car
You should get one
It wasn't a review, just his personal dislike.
Cooley we miss you!
What class of rival cars compete this car and also tell the rivals of Genesis?
This dude does amazing reviews
His eyes are everywhere with the blend all i see is ls460 mixed with S class
Hyundai EQUUS looks like a mix of honda, lexus, lincoln, buick, and even bmw !!!!! Do u ever get such hell of a car hyundai!!!!!! Way to go hyundai!!!!

Comes with an iPad? DEAL!
love this reviewer!! He's funny and makes watching car reviews entertaining!! Nearly convinced me to go and buy this dam car!! Then i remembered and looked at the badge! Hyundai??? WTF
Thats soo nice! Better in maintenance of course comparing to German monster cars.
Nice car for hyundai. I see people still don't respect it. I just don't trusted some of those german cars, too expensive to maintain and want way too much for tech. Electricial problems. Hyundai is going to be on top in the future
Hyundai Sold 221 Equus in May, Hyundai does not expect to sell many of these but i think they are going to sell better than expected.
I must admit Hyundai improves a lot over the years. The problem is the name "Hyundai". They need a new name for their high end cars.
@dar4b72 you can always add a aftermarket bodykit
Overall, I love this car, I do agree with the critic in that the car truly is meant for short people. The critic looks like hes about 5'8 and he can barely use the backseat footrest, can you imagine if a 6'2 guy like me tried sitting in there? Doesn't this guy also review LCD TV's? Man, he must be the legendary jack of all trade and master of none!
You should see the face of a BMW owner after being owned by a Hyundai. I almost felt sorry for the guy. Its like reality, frustration and stupidity hit him at the same time, I think he may have thew up.
@mahidmalik7 Why does it have to have a certain name?
In the future Hyundai is global number one!
Drive for uber?
Great review though love his opinions on vehicles
In iran the Equus is called the Hyundai Centennial and its $185,000 USD..... A mercedes S350 is about $400,000 USD..... A Toyota Yaris is $50,000
If Hyundai changed the design on this thing and made it look nicer...it would kick some merc and BMW butt
I really like car tech reviews.
that aside, if someone has a strict budget of under 70k and want a new big luxury car with nice gadgets, the Equus is a decent choice
Dear CNET, i hope you see this. Im not here to troll. However, I was extremely surprised at how horrible your car journalists were, but then i saw this guy! don't worry about the name.. Look at the luxury for the price. Nowhere on the car do you see Hyundai
Thanks for making this video
Yes, it is still Hyundai. the fourth largest car company in the world...
Absolutely gorgeous luxury saloon. The badging is of the winged horse 🐎, the Pegasus. Reliability is of paramount importance to me, something that no German car can ever deliver at any price point, at least not since the 1980's.
Ravi Peiris M.D.
Do you still have this car?
I like this guy

this guy should be reviewing an Ipod rather than cars. Very annoying comments that have no place in a car review.
When Mercedes Benz came to america they were very unpopular. Same with BMW ... I promise you the residual value of a Equus will be just fine.
yea i'm waiting for the Genesis to arrive. that car is gonna kick everybody's butt and still cost less
You are not going to wait until you lose your feet, are you? I wonder how the leg support works in Lexus.
@yoyoluc, Haha.uuh no! I own a 2011 E550 and upon driving the Equus, I was extremely impressed. It's going to set a whole new standard and give value a new meaning. Nice Video but no way will I pay 58k for an un-badged car, let alone a Hyundai! It is good to see them stepping it up and making the other car makers take notice.
Whats Romania?
@GMT4ful THe equus is really their first luxury car even though this is its older sister to the 2011 version but all they did was put in a better engine and little mods to the interior. First time things rarely beats competitors. I'm not saying they won't ever im just saying not right now.
$65,000 with all the goodies in it...even mb s class doesn't have all that. I call the people who bought this over a 60k mb or bmw a smart person.
also go and compare it to the Audi A7 and A8.
in order for the power delivery to be extremely smooth in a very heavy car (which is most luxury sedans) you need a high amount of torque. horsepower is the raw power produced by the engine and supplied to the wheels. torque is rotational power applied. for these cars you need high torque at relatively low RPMs to have smooth delivery. the Equus has 376 ft-lbs. @ 5000 rpm...what kind of luxury car would be revving to 5000 RPM exactly?
Nice... I would different take the Hyundai logo down and put on the car emblem only, I would also do that for the genesis 😏
The 2012 model has an 8 speed automatic I'm pretty sure
arent the new 2011 jags like 75K? i think i would spend a bit more for a jaguar rather than this, awesome videos tho.
most of our confidence level isn't up enough in Hyundai to buy at this cost
This guy is a natural!
Change the rims and I wouldn't think twice about buying this amazing car :)
the A8 is $10k more.

It's a really nice car
My antenna won't allow my sound to sound 2013 equus ultimate
LOL the faces and sounds he makes at 5:37 !!!
Never let this guy to review another car
Test drive one...! It's an excellent luxury car..! It's a true S class , LS460, 7 series competitor
That car still on sell?? Or it has sold already...??
They still make it
@jxtsful Its called the Kia Cadenza. Its amazing.
@beNNe152 thank you very much for your sharing of knowledge in the field of Latin culture and language
even people who don't know about cars would say this car is obviously mercedes + lexus
I think this can mass more as a Lexus, or Infinity,,,, but still really nice!
This car is really good value for money, however Hyundai just needs to launch a new brand name. The only problem with this car is the name. Its still a Hyundai. People who want this kind of car would rather have a recognizable brand name like BMW or Mercedes.
i saw one of these for the first time today and i'm like what IS that
Free ipad?
can you do the new redesigned equus
WOW! NICE CAR :)
good review, car seems like a great buy. too bad about that reclining rear seat. idea seems awesome, but implementation isn't so great. if only that front seat could tumble more out of the way.
