    We finally finish the electronic fuel injection installation on our 420cc turbocharged drift trike! Unfortunately it was raining when we finished, so we expect to test it in the next video.

    In the future, if you have an issue with the alternator, you could remove the pull cord and housing and place a pulley or some sort of drive mechanism from there. Great work guys!

    Keep the fuel pick up in the same part of your tank and put a 90, up, somewhere that fits. then you can have three needed things: 1. more fuel, 2. a bit of head on the horizontal part of the tank where the pick up is 3. a simple sight guage along the vertical section.
    Nice work so far, the EFI/turbo combination looks like a completely legit setup. Nothing against your know-how, but I thought EFI plus turbo would have been a nightmare to make happen.

    The IAT sensor is suppose to sit on the hotside of the intake. Since when you compress the air with the turbo, the air will get hot and the iat sensor will get faulty readings since you have it set before the turbo.

    Im also slapping a Ecotrons EFI on a GX200. But I have a smaller 14cc head, full valvetrain upgrade, 28,5mm intakevalve. ARC billet flywheel and con-rod, flat top piston, mild rise cam. And I could not get the thing started. I think I have the issue of a non-resistance sparkplug and the ARC flywheel has too big of a magnet. Hard to pinpoint exactly, where the Hall sensor decides to fire.
    Even Ecotrons people are curious how the ARC racing flywheel should perform. Maybe in the future, they will provide a racing tune. But until then, once I get the EFI running, its back to square one and turbo also on that. Not with a 14cc head of course. I would have to epoxy the head on to keep the compression in...with 1/2" bolts

      Why a non resistance spark plug? You might be better off eliminating emf by using a resistor plug. Even my stock resistor plugs cause my AM radio to go wacky,

    • @priitmolder6475
      @priitmolder6475 8 років тому

      DarkLinkAD
      Non-resistance plugs are on stock carb motors like the GX200 and Chonda clones. To ensure that the small coil can generate enough spark. It says in the ecotrons install manual to get a resistance plug due to EMI. They are running with the stock plug...because it comes with the motor...

    Hey guys, it looks like you're using Ecotrons for EFI. It's what we use in our design competition at my school. If it's like our system, you have to be hooked up to the computer via a laptop and enable the self-learning on the ECU through computer software. Also it'll take a bit for any fuel map you make to engage because the ECU defaults to a startup map until the O2 sensor is fully warmed up.

    This is some ridiculous crap and I'm loving it. Found this while looking up some inspiration for doing a turbo CB250RR on an old shifter kart chassis.
    Hello from Mooresville.
    Oh yeah, taller tank, pick up in the rear and a little fuel cell foam will help a lot with the slosh.

  • @Danfu5
    @Danfu5 8 років тому

    Hey guys, some tips I picked up when working on EFI for my car(in my case it was MPFI). The regular RPM fluctuations on start are most likely a slow O2 sensor, due to not being hot enough (they alternate lean - rich noticeably slow when cold). Check that all the pins make good contact. Faulty O2 heaters are a real pain, and will cause hesitation and loss of low end power if they're bad. If that's fine, you'll have to make a thermal shield for it. O2s will tend to dissipate heat pretty quick through any metal they contact. Also, given that your exhaust gas flow isn't very much and you've got a header and turbo that are both directly air cooled, you may want to try and give as much heat to the sensor as possible(some insulation will do wonders here). It'd also be a good idea to not drive this baby in the rain, 'cause water may get into the exhaust and end up right where the O2 sits, which makes them bad until they dry.
    As far as the IAT sensors goes, you're much better off putting it after the butterfly. You'll get accurate input that includes any heat from the manifold itself(this can be a few degrees).
    Great video guys! I wish I could do this where I live :(

    You maybe able to build more boost on it if you had a rear axle brake. An you could use that rear axle brake for more than just building boost it will be cooler drifting too. If you use that rear axle brake to to build boost you'll get a bigger jerk. How it will build more boost is the when your idling it up an have the axle brake on an the turbo is spinning up all that air has no where to go so it builds up cause the motor don't need it so when the disengage the axle brake that air fill go into the motor an bam your gone.

    Stand your fuel tank vertically so that movement doesn't affect it. Most EFI installs have a swirl pot or some kind of sump so that fuel movement doesn't affect it. Also - I know you guys are on budget, but surely you can afford some small mandrel bends to make decent exhaust and intake pipes.
