i visited harpers ferry a few years back. I saw the old buildings, a steam locomotive and as i walked along the road the sun was filtered through the leaves and left patches of dappled sunlight along the green river frontage, Children were playing on small boats laughing in the warm sunlight. The river running in shallow places reflected the light in rocky sections.More children laughing and splashing. I walked past the line of shops and spoke to a fellow with a big harley davidson. We had a discussion about his bike ,he asked where i was from and told me he had once played a game of rugby. for him it was a great experience. i had also played that game we shared some experiences. what a wonderful day. one of the best in my trip.

Went kayaking down the Shenandoah river where it meets the Potomac. Felt spirit all around. Lovely place

This was a very beautiful place to put Vault 76
Vault 76 is nowhere near Harpers Ferry. Though you do get to explore the town. It's located in a swampy region known has the Mire.

I visited Harper's Ferry in 1958 and 1963. There were many flood ruined builds along the main street, especially out towards Virginius Island. I guess they either restored them or destroyed them. There were still people living in 2nd stories of downtown stores. The Park Service was just beginning to excavate the armory. There was nothing cutesy antiquey back then like now, but I guess that was inevitable.
That writing on the side of the mountain was legible in the early 80's.
I remember it clearly as of 1988 it could be read
