Alberta and B.C. premiers announce wine-selling deal - July 16, 2024

  • Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and British Columbia Premier David Eby announce a memorandum of understanding to allow wineries in B.C. and Alberta to sell directly to consumers in these provinces. The leaders are visiting the east coast to attend the annual meeting of the Council of the Federation.
    The premiers then take questions from reporters on a number of topics, including the federal dental care program, the federal equalization program, and the provinces telling the federal government to "stay in its lane" with regards to the division of federal and provincial powers.
