Devil Z, it has resurfaced once again. Akio, a young boy who seeks find his true potential. Hits the pavement of the Wangan route. Little does he know, about the pack of wolves who hunger for Z's power. Willing to do whatever it takes to get their hands on the strange car. They crept up from behind, their lights filling his mirrors, inching ever so closer as they slice through the night.
In the nick of time, Akio spots the sign for an off ramp. Maybe he can loose these lowlifes in the grid of the city. Only 1 mile to go, his eyes narrow, his foot gets heavier on the gas pedal. 80, 100, 115 miles an hour; the speedo climbs into the stratosphere and Akio's reflexes are pushed to their limit. Regular cars flying by as if they were standing still, even the cops can't get him now. Quick glance back, the gang is still on his six. Swerve! A fingernail's length away from missing another businessman, he presses on. Nothing else matters now except that off ramp, he absolutely cannot let these wolves get him, and he'd rather die trying to escape than get caught. 1/2 a mile to go. The engine is screaming past 8,000 rpm, those forged internals sure came in handy. Damn! A cop! Sure they can't catch him, but now it looks like he's street racing with a bunch of hooligans and they likely already have his car photographed from 10 different angles. Whatever, that's a problem for later, for now another glance in the rear view. The gang is scarcely a couple of car lengths on him, and in the corner of his vision Akio sees one of them rummage for something, no time to keep looking. Another group of commuters fly past, and in the distance sirens can be heard. The world is closing in on Akio, that off ramp is everything. There! 2 lanes changed, and Akio hooks a left, slams on the brakes. The tail is kicking out from the rears locking up, "Keep it together man!" Akio's shouts to himself as he juggles between going around the corner and slamming into the wall. Off the ramp, handbrake pulled, throttle floored, swinging the car 90 degrees, Akio barely makes it past a yellow light. He's made it! Into the city grid with the way behind him blocked off. A close encounter and likely a bounty on his head the result of it. For now though, the wolves are gone, and there are plenty of alleys to rush into to avoid the cops. The Devil Z lives on, but just like last time its life won't be easy.

I think that is indeed a part of the car. Maybe a vertical stabilizer? The angle does make it look like a shooting brake though, you are right.
