I've been using Mike for special blanks. He just finished a special Marine and USNavy Submarine blank for me, and is working on a couple of blanks for a pen/pencil set for my wife. Great guy to work with, and does fantastic work.
Thank you Paul,
Michael has become a very good friend of mine. He does can fantastic work and I love sending people to him because I know they will be happy with what he makes for them.
Regards,
Bob
Using the bushing as protection works great, also the pads you put on the press works great for me also. The tips you gave on this in your past videos have made things much improved on my pen making. Thanks and love those pens and your videos.
Thank you James, I’m glad I could be of help.
Regards,
Bob
A pair of belters Bob!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Thank you Alan.

Very new to turning. Thanks for all your tips.
Thank you,
I’m glad you find them useful.

Well done. Bob. Beautiful pens.
Thank you Phil.

Bob
Hi Bob... always love your videos! FWIW... I usually only adjust the bolt action depending on whether the intended user is left or right handed. Just makes it easier for one handed operation with a flick of the thumb on the writing hand.
Thank you John.
Regards,
Bob
Wow, the recipients of the pens are going to be very thankful. Thank for taking the time on tbc, sanding with flat blank, applying the wax and buffing. No CA ? Red mark on your tool I hope it was just a marker. You went that step a little further than in other videos. Thank for coming back to explain more in detail. Bob, great job, thanks and keep up the good work. Welcome back!
Thank you Eddie,
I only use C/A on Alumilite for repairs. That red mark was left over from the sharpening process. I’m changing the grind a bit on the tool so it will take a while to wear away.
Regards,
Bob
Another great job Bob. Thanks, and all my best to Mike as well.
Thank you Roger.
Regards,
Bob
Very nice Bob! Thanks for the great tip on using the blank as a sanding backer. I'm gonna try that!
take care, Dave
Thank you Dave,
As long as you don’t get aggressive and apply to much pressure it works great for leveling out a blank.
Regards,
Bob
Hi Bob....beautiful bolt action pens...detailed instructions and information as always...great video...Take care...All the best.....Andy
Thank you Andy.

Great looking pins! Thanks for the tips on how to use BTC and lining up the blank to look good on the desk.
Thank you Arthur.
It’s he small touches that make the pen really special.

good job bob
Thank you Gene.

Great work keep it up
Thank you.
I have a couple of those in my pen box. I have only ever turned the slim line pens. These blanks cost a bit more so I am waiting till I get a little better at it. I should just turn them.
I think being comfortable is very important. However, that being said, sometimes you have to step out of that comfort zone and take a chance or you Never really improve.
Regards,
Bob
Beautiful pens Bob. I'll have to show you one I did recently.
Thank you Brent.

Bob
Great pens Bob!! Do you find that renaissance wax works better than a CA finish?
Renaissance Way is in addition to C/A on wood pens. I use it for the final polish.
On Alumilite pens, I do not use C/A unless they are a wood hybrid.
Find yourself a good headlight scratch remover at the auto parts store. PlastX works nicely and use that.
Regards,
Bob
I can’t seem to find the link for your friend Michael who makes these custom blanks. Any help would be appreciated.
Michael got out of the blank making game.
Great looking Pens
Thank you Douglas.
Regards,
Bob
Fist of all I live your channel I new to this pen turning I have a question how does wax penetrate the wood after you have sealed it yours alan stay safe
It doesn’t, it just lets me polish the micro fine scratches out of the surface and gives the blank a nice shine.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner thank you for your reply
very nice looking pens
Thank you Craig.

Bob
Very informative as usual Bob, to be honest I’m not a fan of Black flags we have them here in the UK and I think it’s disrespectful. But that’s just me. Your work is very much appreciated. ❤️❤️
Thank you Eric,
The person receiving the pen is color blind. The black and white image is way more vivid that a color image.

Bob. Any news on the Ohio pen turning symptom this year?
It’s scheduled for September. Look up Mid-Ohio Valley Pen Turners Gathering on FB for all the details.
Regards,
Bob
Wow great looking pens Bob. Why dont you do cast your own blanks anymore (especially the ones with a printed ones) Theirs some lucky people at work.
When I only need one or two blanks it’s cheaper to purchase them. The resin is expensive and goes bad quickly. It’s just not worth it unless you do a decent amount of casting.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner can you get clear cast 10 50 resin use that and its got a shelve life and I found its quite reasonable price
Perhaps, I’ll have to check into it.
I never understood why the kit manufacturers put the bolt handles on backwards...
I always wondered about that too.
looks awesome, great work. It's sad we never see any pens with the 7th amendment
Thank you Shaun.
Regards,
Bob
Hi r u ok
Hello Tony.
Yes, thank you.
Regards,
Bob
You know the only reason you find that bolt action weird is because you're left handed. The kit comes designed for right handed people. If I'm wrong please tell me
Hello Brandon,
I don’t think your wrong. The only reason I rotate the bolt is because that’s the way the bolt works on my rifle. It angles down so naturally I felt like the bolt on the pen Should angle down. There is no right or wrong way it’s just a personal preference and can easily be changed back by the new owner with a screwdriver.
Regards,
Bob
@@RJBWoodTurner Also I just gotta say I've learned so much from your videos and have seen improvement in my work so I just wanted to say I appreciate you and your channel!
Thank you Brandon,
I appreciate that comment and am glad I have helped.

Bob

😃
anyone else loathe bolt actions, is it just me?
I love them. Nice kits. Irritates me I always have to turn the bolt the right way though. Silly Chinese...
@@seanobrien7169 At least you have the option to change it. Also it may have not been designed by the Chinese. Only manufactured there.
The bolt may be a gimmick kit but it is the best gimmick kit. You may hate it but people buying pens love them and I sold every one I ever made.
@@RJBWoodTurner I'm not in a position of having to sell everything I make. I'm a hobby craftsman. I make for the art of it. So just because they sell does not make them good, right, or beautiful; remember the Yugo, ugly car, sold well.
