Also there is surely lots in it for Sega, namely free money from yet more legal sales of old games they don’t have to do anything to (unless names need changing/sprites altered like OutRun and After Burner). Then there’s increased brand awareness in a new generation who were too young to have played the classics in the 80s and 90s, which would be very useful now so many of these IPs have remakes in active development. Sadly none of this will ever happen. It would be incredible, but we don't yet have one arcade racer on the platform, despite both Jaleco and Gaelco having released great racers. They will never licence Sega, because they don't charge enough for the carts. I wish they'd put them up to 30, even 35, and go after genuinely big licences instead of mostly low rent filler. This platform will never reach it's true potential until they do this.
@@yandman26 I think they’ve been building a user base so far to have something to pitch with when they go for bigger licenses. It is gaining momentum. The Game Gear one is surely an easy win for both parties at least?
@@CatGoneCrazyYou think they've been meandering for four years in order to build a user base? Games build a user base. It's always too safe, too easy, too much filler junk. Plus the actual system is poorly engineered. We still don't have dip switches because they clearly cannot retrospectively implement them for the system. They're having to add updates to individual games. Also take into account the control schemes that were broken for the better part of two years, you have to question those making the decisions. I am 1000% behind the principal of the system and have many carts and systems, but generally it's hitting way below it's potential. However the new Toaplan cart 3 and 4 are going to be top tier.
@@yandman26 Well, considering Blaze’s old Mega Drive systems were absolutely dreadful, the massive strides they’re making in the past two years or so have made me very happy indeed. You’re right about the dip switches, I don’t understand that one myself. And yes, hitting below potential, certainly, but getting to a stage now where it’s definitely good enough to be taken seriously, and maybe that’s what’s swung it now - if it is indeed Sega they’ve signed.
@CatGoneCrazy My moneys on SNK. The licenses already exist and are readily available. I wish it were SEGA arcade games, but it's not gonna happen. I'd love some PC Engine. Winds and Gates of Thunder on one cart would be incredible.
@@yandman26 I’d want Super Sidekicks 2 or 3. Or BOTH! But yes that would indeed be one people have asked for, and if anything, SNK are even more about selling their old games than Sega. But I still hope it’s Sega lol
If Sega joined with Evercade they would kick Nintendo into touch and rule this type of gameing once again.
Because they are were the largest arcade company?
@@RavenShinyThings Nailed it. But ALSO! All the reasons in the video :)
@@CatGoneCrazy yeah i know i was just highlighting the products branding ie evercade (forever arcade)
@@RavenShinyThings Oooo you know I forget the ‘cade’ bit these days. First time you hear the word you can see the blend, but these days the word is just a word in its own right in my mind! Good point well made :)
I would love sega physical games on evercade . However... Evercade can't even get capcom to put out physical games on evercade. The only way I see it is another handheld or bartop arcade.
@@crazyoldschool6342 I’ve only just bought the Alpha 😭 I really hope that’s not the case!
@CatGoneCrazy me too
Not sure SEGA wants to be involve with Evercade ...
@@jean-baptistegoupillon4795 Well, someone big has just been signed, someone frequently requested. And aside from Konami there can’t be many others left that fit the description!
Putting the Master System versions of those games would make more sense. To be honest Evercade need to sort out their Discord before they begin signing anyone else up. It's an incredibly hypocritical and toxic place. 😆
@@pferreira1983 lol I’ve never tried going on it, thanks for the warning 😅 But yeah what a great idea. Master System is actually pretty great - loads of games run at 60fps so have aged unusually well. An unusually arcade-like experience. Would be a great fit, good shout :)
@@CatGoneCrazy Some of the SMS games were actually optimised for 50fps if they came out after support ended in North America. For Brazil due to the region those particular games ran at 60fps but weren't intended to. You can tell because the music is sped up.
@@pferreira1983 Ah the opposite of English Mega Drive games! Slow Sonic with slow Sonic music. Always felt like it was playing in slow motion when I was a kid - turns out it was!
@@CatGoneCrazy I really never had a problem with PAL Sonic to be honest. It was much more an issue I found on Golden Axe. But yeah, SMS games made for Europe were supposed to run in 50fps, Brazil was considered the next market so there was consideration for the correct speed. A good example to try is Lucky Dime Caper. Playing it in Brazil causes the game to be much faster than it's supposed to be. I asked one of the Retro Arch emulator developers to have a 50fps toggle so people can play the games at the correct speed.
@@pferreira1983 And did they add it?
Evercade needs Sega and Konami
@@thinkingwisedawg2508 Yes! Konami is the only other really big name that they might have signed.
Bro u think Blade doesn't know how yo business?
It took em this long yo get Capcom 🤣😂
They actually already had deals with Sega in the past, releasing several Mega Drive branded products including a console that actually played old Mega Drive carts. It sucked, which can't have helped their relationship, but they're definitely not strangers.
Why does anyone need to sign Sega.
Because they made some of the greatest games of all time? Come on, now.
Pasted quality control 🤣🤔 u having a laugh? I've collected every Evercade carts and there are plenty of bugs.
They do patch bugs with cart updates. But with licensed software there's more of a chance of it working as intended than if you emulated a pirated copy. Who knows what's in those ROMs.
ive spent stupid money on retro handhelds just this month alone im not proud i really should stop watching these channels and reminiscing XDDDD
@@antwango I think just choosing one and sticking to it is a good idea. I use Evercade for licensed retro stuff and an Analogue Pocket for playing retro games I own. I’m not into emulation of stuff I don’t own, doesn’t have the same magic. But there’s nothing wrong with preferring old games, they are often superb.
Its all delisted naw realy
As from December 4 I believe. So still time to get on it, though it's already missing the first three Sonic games because of Sonic Origins.
There's nothing in it for sega it a lost caused you just need to look at Nintendo with the emulation laws
@@LiamLoweguest Evercade is legal though. They acquire official licenses. You’re right that Nintendo fiercely protects its IP, as it should. But even Nintendo reportedly uses other people’s open source emulation for its old games. Emulation itself is actually legal, it’s only the duplication of ROMs breaking copyright that’s illegal, which wouldn’t be the case on unmodded Evercades. Sorry to sound so contradictory, truly, but basically I completely disagree :)
@CatGoneCrazy there's nothing in it perfect example the ps1 mini was a failure the only reason it eventually became successful was due to it being soft modded
@@LiamLoweguest Well, PS1 Mini didn’t run the built-in games properly. Weird frame drops in Ridge Racer Type 4, for instance. It also lacked loads of stand-out games you’d want to see on it and so it was panned and failed. If there was no money in retro collections, Evercade would have folded immediately, instead they have 10 different hardware iterations now and more than 50 licensed cartridges. It would be an odd business to keep releasing these things if there wasn’t any money to be made!
@CatGoneCrazy evercade is a small franchise compared to sega etc you seem to miss the concept what would sega gain
@@LiamLoweguest The games exist already, Evercade would port them so no extra work, Sega would have the right to refuse if the games don’t run well enough… it’s just free money. Nothing to lose.
