- Today, on our sheep farming vlog at Ewetopia Farms, we take advantage of some spare time between rain showers to cleanup the sheep paddocks. This may not seem important, but cutting down grass that has gone to seed or been eaten to stalky-stubble and weeds is critical to pasture regrowth, health, and longevity. As we cut down the unwanted debris, the lambs are free to roam and graze. They also make a point to nibble at their favorite willow tree and my hair! Meanwhile, Arnie is not a happy camper as he awaits both his government pension check and to be able to start haying again!

Good morning Arnie and Lynn. Max wants to get right in there. Glad to see the crops are up. I believe you are tired. It has been a lot of hard work. I think corn is a fascinating plant tge way it takes care of itself. Wow the sheep are hidden by the grass in the field. Anything that has to do with the government is difficult. You aren’t alone. Happy happy sheep. Arnie always looks good on his tractor. They love nibbling on that tree for sure. Absolutely love the expressions on their faces. Your sheep are loved and they love you back. The corn looks good! It's too bad about the hay. I hope you don't quit this year. Ben is so cute! I think that the government will change hands soon. I hope that things get better ŵhen it comes to your pension. The sheep really love it on the paddock. I just love watching the sheep play! That sheep who came over to you was so cute! Oh Arnie, it’s going to be a long, hot summer. From the looks of it they must’ve been having a lot of long, hot summers south of the border because they really aren’t getting along.
Let’s hope it means you’ll be putting up your fourth cut of hay in December.
Back in the day you used to be able to adopt orphans to help out on the farm. Maybe it’s time to write to your MP about bringing that back.
Or you and a neighbour could hire a student together. Rent a trailer so they have somewhere to live? Though if it were that easy you’d have done it already.

Arnie I hear you and agree!! Seems as though there are always two sets of rules. As the citizens, we have to follow the rules or face a penalty. The government makes up their own rules to follow. What is surprising when considering the relationship between the citizens and their government is we are from two different countries. The sheep enjoyed the day out at pasture and I really enjoyed watching. As always, thank you for sharing real life on your farm. Stay safe!!🙏❤

Yes, if we weren't farming, it actually is a beautiful summer with everything staying nice and green. We had a person in town say to us that as farmers, we are probably really happy about the weather this year. People don't understand unless they watch a few farming videos 😆😉😁

Thanks for the advice . I will apply 18 months before a I qualify and see how much of a F show that is. Anyone producing food related products should get more of a pension than the average guy, because of all the sacrifices and risk he/she had to take. Keep your head held high. You are doing an awesome job.

I bet it is a bit depressing, it has been a tough summer for u so far. Staying hopeful July /August balances it out with more dry than wet, here too. 🤞
They are cut to about six inches tall. That's the highest the bush hog will go 🤩

I come here for the enjoyable farm content. A refuge from the ugliness in the world around us. Now I have to defend myself. Believing in democratic government, doesn't make me a Communist. No matter how nany MAGA creeps hurl the accusation. He has "America First" in his logo. The last group that used that slogan were the Nazi loving German American Bund from the 1930's. No system of government is perfect, because people are involved. Arnie said his piece. We don't know the context or the other side of the dispute. If someone didn't do their job, you have a path to hold them to account.
He wasn't anti government, as someone in the medical field I absolutely believe that there should most definitely be a priority for a healthy society to thrive. I have cared for and sat with many WWII veterans during the last part of their lives. It shouldn't be a question but but both an honor and privilege to be there to give quality when there is not quantity to anyone. Structuring a society in a way to prioritize elderly, disabled and children should be morally at the top. Sadly farming is a very hard job and made even more difficult with marketing to the right clientele. I struggle with that now working to run a farm, work a full time night job and care for a sick elderly husband who gets no pension so I get it. Sometimes I wished I could drop the night job while my husband and the animals sleep but that is how we get our health insurance. And literally that is all it pays for and in the medical field you are paid not very well and always short staffed. I would work during the day but that is when I need to be working on the farm and there to tend to my husband's needs and doctor appointments

I get enough of that elsewhere. I can handle occasional general complaints about government agency failings. But, if they want to engage in partisan politics I'm done.
@gregedmand9939 Greg, he is certainly not talking politically but government is very unfair to farmers and has just put a 60% tax on our land when we sell it or want to pass it on to family which is most farmers pension in that all our money is put in land to retire on. It's like the government taking your pension away. Not only that, now the government is 1.5 years late paying Arnie his pension. If we pay taxes late, the penalties are astronomical. It just isn't fair. I don't think it is really political to mention problems you're experiencing each day as it is a daily vlog. We actually don't like politics as all because we find they are all basically the same. I am surprised you were offended by Arnie venting his bad experiences. It has been devastating for us as farmers and so many farmers are experiencing the same thing.
