My assumption is that it comes from some adults having not had this sort of technology when they were younger, thus not recognizing that despite the presence of technology and culture, not much has really changed. Teens still obsess over famous people (which today is influencers over movie stars), teens love sports (although today they might be e-sports rather than football or baseball), and teens will sneak around to talk or hang out with friends (which is much easier today with texting rather than sneaking out of the house).

I am losing my best friend for 9 years because her mom hates me for being pan and because my best friend had a crush on me and her mom blames me for “corrupting her child with the gay”. Depending on your school district, the cut-off will be different. In my district, the cut off was in late September, so some kids turned 9 at the very beginning of the school year (they were known as September babies).

I guess it’s different for everyone
I never really came out I guess. Like I didn’t scream to the world “hey I’m ace biro” but I make jokes like “hey you know that thing in elementary school where if you were ticklish under the knee you were girl crazy but if you were ticklish on top of the knee you were boy crazy. I was always ticklish on both and it was a SIGN”
But yeah I didn’t really care about coming out I guess? It wasn’t really a big thing at all. Rn I’m on the basis of if someone asks or if it’s important to the situation.
