Again an excellent Toneking-demo Shawn. You make every amp sound stellar. The Falcon Grande sounds really nice, with some tweediness. Just the pricetag is crazy for a 12 watt amp.
Thanks so much! This amp is the Grande so it's a 20 watt with reverb and foot switching and 1x12. The Falcon is a 12 watt with no footswitch or verb and a 10-inch speaker. Thanks for watching!
I don't want to be rude but how can it be a full demo if you don't even use the other input? As a person who primarily plays Humbuckers and wants a clean Fendery sound it would be nice to know if the low input channel sounds like ass before making a purchase.
Yes....got a Gremlin head and one of these coming when Sweetwater restocks so the FG will be my grab and go combo Thinking Gremlin w 4/10's and the FG 1/12 for a killer stereo rig if called for w not too much cartage
I would have liked to have all those specifications (reverb, footswitchable channels) in the same size as the previous Falcon 12W. My main concern in getting one is the reaction of my wife : this thing is just too big for my bedroom ... I hope the attenuator is as effective in real life as in the video, it is my only chance to "sell it" to my wife ...
I own both Falcons, the 12W and the 20W. the difference is huge ! I love the 12W, but don't think I will keep it because the Grande is just well above the 12W version. The sounds are amazing, the reverb is very beautiful.... my only complain is that the amp is still to powerfull in my flat, even with the attenuator at its maximum setting. I will add the IronMan II mini to see if it can manage to have lower sound pressure levzls at home, when I play the lead channel. This is a amp for a lifetime. It replaces my former 2 Fender combos and my Marshall. Now I just have to find a guitar allowing me to replace both my strat and my Les Paul.... any ideas ?
@@sojerz1044 I have sold the 12W. The 20w is a keeper ! I just ordered the small IronMan II attenuator, in order to have 2 attenuators on the same amp, just like on the Sky King ! I can't wait to ear the results !
@@scottwilson940 you are right, EBMM are fine guitars but this time I wanted to give Duesenberg a try. Their new model, the Falken, has pretty much the same electroniccs as the PRS 408. It sounds awesome in single coil ans humbuckers mode.
Thanks so much. The Falcon Grande is a higher wattage amp so it's tighter. The tone stack on the Falcon is quite a bit more versatile than the Gremlin. That being said the Gremlin has a lot of tone in a very simple low wattage format.
@@ShawnTubbs Can I ask you how would you compare the rhythm channel of the FG to the rhythm channel of the Imperial MK II? And the tweed channel of The FG with the Lead channel of the imperial? Thank you Shawn, you're a really great musician!
@@lorenzoassognaguitar In general just based on the power sections they are quite different. The Falcon Grande is a bit bolder sounding with the 5881 power section though I'm a fan of the Imperial MKII 6v6 power section. Overall, if you want smoother silkier tones go with the MKII. If you want bolder less compressed tones, go with the Falcon Grande.
@@ShawnTubbs ok, thank you so much Shawn! A few days ago I tried the falcon grande and I was impressed by the warm and big sound of both rhythm and tweed channels, it's an incredible amp, but I found an used Imperial MKII for sale at a very affordable price that I'm going to try and I'd like to understand if the clean sound is close to that of the FG, or better... I think it's a great sound anyway!
@@ShawnTubbs Hi, please, what do you mean by "tighter"? Which one sounds warmer / mellower between the Gremlin and Falcon Grande ? Does the Gremlin have as much overtones as the Falcon Grande (because it's a single ended) ? Thank you very much !
It’s so great to see that you’re still using your Furious Slide Shawn!
Cheers!
Fer chriminey sake, would you please gather up all these ideas and release a solo record??? I would pre-buy and suspect many others would as well.
I think he meant to say 5881 powered, not 6L6. Still an awesome amp! Tone King Amps rock!
At 20 watts for 2x5881 tubes. It must run class A push pull.
You have made this amp first in my wish list. Great demo. Thank you very much
What a great track in the perfect tone for it straight out of the Rick Derringer 70's Playbook!

Right, my bad. The Falcon Grande has more power. Still a hefty pricetag.
Stroopwafel 61 - Made in America vs China/Mexico/ Vietnam etc. makes a price difference for sure.
@@stroopwafel6141 Worth every penny.
I have one. Great amp. Better than the sky king.
That demo song is killer Shawn!!!!!! Great demo vid matey
Not for nothing, but if you released an album with these types of guitar jams on it, I'd buy it.
Inventive best tones on tube Seriously keep us posted on your first project after all this virus mess
Aw man I was wanting a Skyking but this may have changed my mind
I would love to buy one of these but I can't justify the price as a bedroom player. Great amp and demo.
People tend to spend so much on their guitar, but really cheap out on their amp. A great amp is worth the investment.
Check out the gremlin. Wonderful for home use!
Very nice amp
That sounds good man !
These look amazing...GASsing so
Damn that sounds good I think I will buy one
Update I did buy one and it's glorious
Yeah it’s between this and the mess boogie recto verb 25 for me right now. I also really like the imperial mk11 but the grande sounds better to me.

Throw a good clean boost/OD pedal in front, and it kills. MXR SugarDrive and/or Xotic SuperSweet.

Excellent demo and tasty playing Shawn. Does the built in attenuator have the Solo band as well and is it controllable via footswitch?
Thanks so much for watching! The solo band is only on the stand-alone Ironman II Attenuator.
Funky and the amps sounds good too ;).

Any pedals or is the pure raw?
what are you using for drums ?

there nice
...now just replace those 5881’s with 6L6’s and the amp really shines...
The new Gremlin head ships w 5881's now as well

This amp is fantastic paired with Filtertrons, or a quality Tele.
