  • We want to turn this overgrown area into a pasture for our animals, and try a different method of creating new pasture. Will it work?

get all the rained on bales you can get, particularly ruined alfalfa it has a lot of nitrogen , if you can spread it out and till it under or just add some nitrogen fertilizer that will help it compost quickly, if you make like a corn crib in a circle add a large water tank plumbed with in and out of the tank, then add a layer of wood chips, then a layer of manure, say up to 12 or 14 feet high and about the same diameter, then turn on your cold water to the tank, as the compost heats it will heat the tank and you now have free hot water that is preheated for your inside water tank. This was done in Europe a lot after world war II by farms. Last about 2 years. Then remove the compost put it on your land and start again then you have free hot water. ok it might get up to 90 degrees if you want it hotter it goes to your inside hot water tank, you can also burn you less desirable wood for heating your home or even heating your hotwater inside.
investigate this it is fun with all of the variations people have used.

Getting the place looking good. Rome wasn’t built in a day, as they say.
