    I love Performance Samples libraries, especially strings. Thank you very much, Kevin, for this very interesting presentation :-)

    I've noticed, that if you're also interested in Pacific Brass and don't have Pacific Solo Strings yet, you may want to check out the loyalty offerings very closely. In my case (I have Vista), the loyalty intro price for the brass is $149, but with the solo strings it would only be $89. Pick Pacific Solo Strings for $79 during loyalty intro and then Pacific Brass with the new code. Your total price for these both would be $168, compared to $149 for only one of them.

    The PSS Violin and V2 Cello are definite standouts. The violin especially in its upper register is just so lyrical. Nice video!

    Awesome, I definitely need both solo libs for one of the pieces I’m writing at the moment. Thanks, great overview! ❤

    The closest thing to this might be the UVI Bohemian series.

    Thanks Kevin, once again, for a great review of the new libs from Performance Samples.
    Perfect timing - I wanted to strike today :)
    Although Performance Samples is a no-brainer for me - the review here still strengthened my urge to buy 😄

    I coincidentally bought these three libraries a couple of days ago,
    and I am in complete agreement with the above revue.
    I already have several solo string libraries; they all have something valuable about them, and they all have some cons. But all in all, the above three PS libraries will be my go to when it comes to, for example, solo cello, in particular the legato patches, together with the CinematicSS and the Tina Guo cellos.

      I generally feel like Performance Samples has THE BEST legato sound compared to any other library manufacturer.

    The performance on these are awesome! I never realized how muddy, and verby they sound though. You probably have to EQ the heck out of them, or no? Do they sit nice with other libraries and in a full mix being how they are?

    For curiosity, what do you think about spitfire samples in general ?? do you use sometimes chamber strings or the new legato repatched 2024 from SSO ? thanks in advance......PS : thanks for sharing all your experience 👍

    What i dont understand is why making everything perfect on the sound but still miss RR legato intervals... thats what we need, thats what we need for pacific ensemble strings!

    when you set the offsets correctly on your tracks . do the shorts play in time.. can you write shorts at 180bpm 3/4 straight off the keyboard, i know this sounds silly but now this is the most important thing to me for a selling point lolol, i don't write like everyone else. i write live like what Vangelis did. i'm building a live setup thingy, it only works with Reaper DAW, i think some ppl would be amazed if they saw what i'm doing. it's not for everyone that's for sure tho, some ppl like still writing track to track one at a time, and yes i still do that also , but what i'm doing is very very fun.. music should be fun.

      @KevinKuschel  Місяць тому

      If you compensate for the sample delay, everything is in time on the grid. The values are written on each patch. But this won't allow for zero latency recording when you play in live, of course. Not sure I understood you correctly. I recommend downloading the Fluid Shorts 3 Demo Freebie, then you can try it out.

    The Vista 2 Solo Cello is sounding great, but it seems to have some issues. The notes continues to play non-stop after I've released the key from my keyboard. Is this a known issue?

    • @ComposerRealm
      @ComposerRealm Місяць тому

      Also some notes wont play and there is a very distinct attack on each note

    If I buy Nucleus for example, do I really need the solo libraries?

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  Місяць тому

      Nucleus is a great all-in-one package. The soloists are pretty good in Nucleus. They are very limited in articulations, however, and are not as extensively sampled as dedicated solo libraries.
      So, depends on how often and how exposed you want to use solo instruments imo.

    Solo strings sound great, but there’s one snag…some of the samples sound too vibrato….anyway of changing that?

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  Місяць тому

      No control over the vibrato in those

  • @Krzychu3005
    @Krzychu3005 Місяць тому

    It's all great in the tone, but unless it's a full package deal, it's too pricy for a hobbyist. I dived into audioimperia marketing a few years ago and honestly I don't need another addiction to overlapping or lacking of material. I would pay more just to have everything like solo and full strings sections and more broad technicalities.

    These libraries really are unreal!!! I have a lot of libraries, but man, this solo cello legato, and these shorts, they're INSANE!!!

    You need to use CC1 and CC11 😂 else it sounds robotic

    • @KevinKuschel
      @KevinKuschel  Місяць тому

      PSS and Vista 2 solo cello are recorded with 1 dynamic layer only. CC1 won’t do much good here together with CC11.

    "Very fluent and agile" I can instantly hear the transitions breaking apart into a double-note fest. 😂 Can't you notice it? I'm glad I got PSS as a loyalty freebie, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone willing to pay for it. They are good as first chairs but not ideal for serious solo work. Jasper should have called them Pacific Strings - First Chairs. I like the noisy samples, but I've noticed too many issues with the programming. Load up the cello and play F4, G4, A4, B4 upward and downward as quick example; way too many transition glitches, very sloppy. Also, the constant molto vibrato can severely limit the library's usability. I wish we had an option for a more natural, gradual vibrato.
    The thing with Performance Samples libraries is that they are usually really good at one thing and one thing only. As soon as you start trying to use them in a different context, their limitations become very apparent. The official demos are an honest representation of what they are aimed at. You have to pick your notes very carefully and consider how often you will play them; otherwise, it breaks the illusion (at least for me). Vista II is much better, even if legato only.
