    I didn't know they still produced this film. I worked at Kodak back in the early 2000s. At that time we coated it on an old coating machine that did nothing else but aero film. It was always coated it fresh, and finished right away to get it to our customers.

There are actually a few companies meanwhile, offering this film respooled and rebranded, such as Santa Color or Luminar 100 … or the Elektra, used in this video. It depends on where you live in the world, which film is best to order ( lowest shipping costs ). For me here in Japan, the Luminar 100 was the best option for example, offering the lowest shipping rates.

      because of the smaller range in subject luminance,

    I'm seeing way too much haze, which makes me wonder how the chambers are designed in those cameras. In my Argus C3, it was a box. If light hit the walls of that box, the reflections would haze the film. Solutions were to either use a hood or place a square aperture on the inside of the lens, which worked very well except for causing the edges of the film to vignette. A better approach would be to have a chamber that's pyramid shaped with the narrowest part at the lens end, and the widest part on the film end.
    I'm a die-hard affectionado of vintage things, and appreciate technologies from film to tubes to 78 rpm records, but from what I see here, I saw no advantages to the film vs what I saw of any digital photography shown. The digital photography was clear, not hazy, with good contrast, good color, and no unnatural hue. Dynamic range is always a concern, but from what I saw here, bright film images had lots of haze, though that may have been a fault of the cameras. I do believe that light can also scatter within a film emulsion, causing haze. I don't know if digital receptors are as susceptible to this problem.

    Did you push this film? I just got 2 rolls and I’m a bit afraid to shoot with it as I am in the uk and it hasn’t been particularly sunny lately.

      No push! Shot at 100 ASA, and always differed to slight overexposure if the situation called for it

    Does anyone spool this in 120? Does anyone know?

    Has anyone found the correction filter than can kind of balance the somewhat excessive warmth?

    • @elk3407
      @elk3407 2 місяці тому

      It's unnecessary, the warmth is an artifact of incorrect scanning due to the film having no orange mask
      If you scan it correctly, it's actually more cool

    Was the Film Pushed for any of the shots or was it just shot at a bases 100iso?

      Santa Color may be this stock, or it could be the prior emulsion Aerocolor III (seems very possible unless someone can pipe in to the contrary).
