Spring has arrived in Alaska! We welcome a new baby chick to the flock and are looking forward to many more hatching in the upcoming weeks. For the chicken lovers out there, what is your favorite breed of chicken? 🐓
We wish you a wonderful day wherever you are in the world! Thank you for watching 😊
~ Eric & Arielle
American breese a heritage breed large breasted & go broody & raise their own!
Red comb
White body
Blue legs!
320 eggs a year average
Are fried and barbecued, breeds? 🙄
Greetings from Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 Samarkand city
Don't really have a favorite breed yet as I've only been into chickens for a year. I got some barnyard mixed chickens from a friend and I just love them! Hatched out my first batch of chicks this spring and am expecting a 2nd batch in a few days! In my batch coming up I have a salmon faverolle, lavender Orpington, Buff Brahma, Swedish Flower Hen and a couple of barnyard mixed eggs.
We here in Minnesota have lost many, many flocks to Avian Flu. Eggs are up to $3.00 per dozen. Seriously considering starting a coop. Looking forward to hearing favorite breeds.
I am absolutely in love with your guys' intros. It's insane how much better your cinematography has gotten over the years. Every video I just keep getting more and more impressed with how beautiful of shots you get. Thanks for sharing with us :D
Right? They just get better and better and they were already breathtaking to begin with
The inside of the glacier is just AWESOME.
I swear Arielle looks younger and younger- I think it must be the huge smile you always have on your face; it’s so clear to see how much pleasure you get from the natural world, and it makes it so much easier for us viewers to share the joy that you’re so obviously getting from simple things in life. You two are both amazing, but as a woman I find Arielle’s whole vibe so inspirational ^^
It's sure easy to see why you love living in Alaska. What a spectacular, breathtakingly beautiful place! Your filming is A+++! Thank you😌
On point and so epic
My favorite part of the videos is when Eric sometimes says “it’s a nice warm day” while against the background of a snow covered mountain in Alaska 😂😂 beautiful shots Arielle! Captivating, truly. 💜✨
and hes all bundled up yep I thought the exact same thing haha.
It's a nice warm day... for Alaska
It's "Alaska warm" lol
Snowy, sunny days can give a pretty crispy sunburn. Ask me how I know, lol.
I agree! It's so funny! Eric's idea of "warm" and MY idea of "warm" is about 40 degrees off!
Hey you two! Epic scene shots, as always. Awesome editing as well. Looking forward to seeing your garden grow once again!
I’ve enjoyed watching your channel for sometime. It’s crazy because I’m definitely a city woman, but I appreciate your lifestyle, your hard work, and the wilderness. Thanks for sharing your year round activities. I’m always thrilled to see how much your love for each other, your animals, and Alaska brings the beauty of this world to the rest of us.
Woohoo! These vlogs make my heart happy😊💜
Same here!
Yes! 💖
I love that we all can go into a Simple Living Alaska bubble, and just for a moment all is right in the world 💚🌎. This family brings so much love and healing by sharing their lives.... it's so beautiful!
I do not like cold that much BUT your open space, fresh air and relaxing lifestyle help me while I am watching but at the same time.. it HURTS so much to not have the same(similar) !!!!!!! Forgive me! I really wish you all the best!!!! I just want to stop crying.. and I am coming to conclusion that it doesn't matter HOW it could stop..
You guys have heard thus many times..but again the scenery is absolutely breathtaking! I swear National Geo should be paying you! you guys have shown us Alaska in ways most of us would have never seen. I love this channel ❤️
Really enjoyed the mountain top view. Simply breathtaking!! Arielle, the cinnamon rolls looked delicious. Eric sure loved them! Glad you have replaced the lost hive. Hope they make it thru the next winter. Hope the rest of the eggs hatch. Thanks for sharing another fantastic video with us.
Never thought to use a marshmallow when adding our queens! So smart!
Hey, my favorite peeps! I haven't even watched the video but I can tell you I really needed a video from you guys😊 You make the world better by just being a part of it. I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. They are beautiful, peaceful, and fun. I'm always learning something from you two. Thank you💖
The footage took my breath away and transported me to a place I might never see in person. For that alone - I thank you so very much ❤️.
3:10 mountains for days...makes my heart happy.
People if ur not watching this on the big screen ur missing the whole story! Amzing video guys! You sure are making some amzing memories to remember when ur old!!! 💜💕❤️
I’m so excited to see the spring project and that beautiful garden come to life!
Thank you so much for that glorious intro. You bring everyone along with you to see some of the most beautiful vistas with a really nice musical accompaniment. Very calming in this crazy world. It’s much appreciated.
BTW: The State of Alaska tourism board should be sending you checks for the amazing job you’re doing spotlighting the state. I never knew Alaska was that gorgeous.
Everything you presented here was absolutely beautiful. I could feel your words, music, your hens, dogs, and cat, your baking, your fun together on top of the mountain was all done with love. You are both a blessing as you share your life with all of us.
I think that one of the coolest things Alaska has, is you. 🧚♀️
I always love the view from Hatcher’s (in the 80s there’d be a zillion people up there to watch all the hang-gliders who used to jump down back then). Your take on this place is beautiful and much appreciated! I love how much you both participate in the wonder of Alaska.
Never comment on yalls videos but I just want to say how much joy and relaxation these bring me 😌 I can’t wait to see the garden this year and watch all those chicks grow up! Sending love (and birthday wishes) from the RGV in South Texas !
I think your channel is the best on UA-cam. Your shots and the video editing are spot on - and the two of you are so inspiring. Thank you - this feeds my soul :-)
Happy birthday Eric. 🎂 This was just an epic video. Spectacular scenery, wonderful food & a new family addition. Of all the homestead videos I watch you 2 have the most beautiful chickens, hands down.
Love your photography! Alaska is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing with us.
I am so thankful you share your experiences with me ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I was helping a friend install packages into 3 new hives. Had finished & taken off suite. Went back out to look at his raised bed, & there happen to be some old empty frames with honey & wax. The girls thought we wanted in on the action & did a Mike Tyson on my eye. So I looked like I went a MMA round. I’m sporting it like a badge of honor!! Still gotta love’em. SAVE THE BEES!!!
I commented almost a year ago about moving to Alaska in 2023. We’ve enacted phase 1 of our plan and we’re half way there. We should be there next spring!
Happy new season! Awesome footage once again. It is always such a delight to see the beauty through your eyes. Thank you!
Oh my gosh the little baby chick is adorable!!
You know what we love about you guys living in Alaska??? The answer is you sharing all your adventures with us !! Love you guys !! Thanks for all you do !! Take care of your wonderful selves!!
Oh how beautiful
These standalone trellises are gorgeous and perfect for supporting those huge sunflowers. Imagine seeing these beauties in your garden just overflowing with gorgeous sunflowers! They’re really easy to build
Ariel I am experiencing Alaska through your eyes & channel. Without this I will never see it so Thank You both so much. Now back to the video Cheers Denise- Australia
Your videography and music is mind blowingly awesome! In awe of the beauty Mother Nature delivers.
Happy birthday Eric - may you have many more and all healthy and exciting. I loved the regal shots of Mr. Bandit. Great video, Bandit, Bo, Bees, Baby Chick (it's a B movie/video) and as always handsome Mr. Kitty.
Thank you for showing us the beauty of Alaska
Tip on your bee smoker. Any old cotton cloth material (100%). My dad liked to use burlap sack cuttings also. Makes GOOD smoke!
My favorite kind of video. A little bit of everything.
Im only a minute into the video and I swear you are good enough at cinematography that you could film for National Geographic. What you film/produce just looks fantastic and the nature scenes are second to none.
Cuanta riqueza en ese lugar.. felicidades desde sur de América saludos
Your life is so pure, it is hard to explain how beautiful I find it in this day and age! Guess I am just getting old! Love your videos!
The last of our snow just disappeared over the weekend, now hope we don't get a May long weekend blast. Used to love Mountain House chili but haven't seen it for decades. You probably know this, the higher the altitude the longer you have cook it. And finally you need to build an snow cave the next time your up that high and stay overnight. Lots of fun. Many, many years ago we would camp on the Alberta, B.C. border and watch the very first satellites pass over will while lying on the snow often with a small fire. Stay safe and have a great spring and summer.
The colors on your chickens are my favorite...LOL! Take care kids, as always stunning video!
Excellent cinematography of all things nature!!
Hooray! A new video! Love your content...and lifestyle!
I enjoy all your videos, this one is one of my favorite. Seeing the little feathered one put a smile on my face. I sure appreciate you both and your furry ones.
You have some beautiful pictures of the nature it is something to see !!! Thank You so much it is great to see BO still going !!!
Wow 😯 that intro gave me goosebumps in the best way possible! Absolutely breathtaking
Great views, thank you for sharing the 360 views of this beautiful state. As always love the 🐝 🐝. Thanks to you both.
The first time I went to Alaska was in 1975 when my father went to work on the pipeline. We traveled by ferry from Seattle to Valdez. The majority of the trip was misty and gloomy. When we got close to Valdez I was shocked to see how green it was. It was the most intense green I have ever seen, along with it was the first time the sun was out the entire trip. While in the Navy I have been to South America, Asia, Europe, Africa, and all over the USA, I have never seen any place as bright green as Southern Alaska in the spring. My childish expectation was it would be snowbound.
There exquisite, absolutely beautiful, and breathtaking. Thank you sooo much for sharing the beauty.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. You are a refreshing respite. So appreciate your love and gusto for life and food. 🤗
It has been SO difficult days, one after another!! And then, I've found your video and it has been SO conforting!! So, thanks a lot. God bless you both.
Today 64 degrees high, mid thirties low tonight. Half inch hail thunderstorm. Our greens are growing crazy. Tomatoes going in next weekend. How we do in Virginia. Alaska is awesome.
I had to chuckle at driving for an hour and a half with a beehive in your lap!
I love the Brahma Chickens, & Rhode Island Reds.
What a beautiful way to say goodbye to Winter & Hello to Spring. Eric, dinner looked amazing! The sweat rolls with a berry topping looked delicious Airial! Really loved your video with the aerial views. So beautiful, peaceful there. Cute 'lil chick. I hope you get lots more!
You always have Awesome videos and drone footage and music and especially wildlife footage.

Oh I just love love to see the mean chicken...lol...when Eric trys ro check under her and she pecks him...I laugh every time. Tks guys for the many times ya have made my day. Love from NC
Last video I watched that part in slow mo 😅
THIS is the BEST off-grid channel on UA-cam in my humble opinion. Been following since your first video in Alaska. Inspirational. And I can’t wait to see you two hit 1 MILLION subscribers!
Happy birthday Eric, thanks for the ride on the mountain was just like being there!
Oh my god what a view
New chicks, new bees, Hooligan soon, birch sap coolers - Spring has Sprung!
Can't wait for Hooligan this year 😃
I have watched every video again ,again and again. There are addictive like most viewers will agree and just plain clear... almost like sitting in a theater. Call Disney here in Florida and do a movie. When you get to Orlando I'll take you both out to dinner
Spring is here in New Hampshire, at least South of Franconia Notch. It snowed North of the Notch today. We're 45 minutes from the Atlantic coast and get some pretty good seafood here, but salmon, we have shipped here from Soldotna, Alaska! Your intro was breathtaking. Alaska! truly is a spectacular place. Thank you William H. Seward! ("mean broody hen" lol) 🐤
I always wanted to visit Alaska, through your videos I can experience Alaska the way I would have wanted. I bought your calendar last year and have enjoyed it. God bless.
Happy Birthday, Eric! 🎂
Thank you for gifting us these gorgeous shots of the mountains! Absolutely amazing. I also love the music you chose. 🥰
Great videography. Alaska is beautiful in all seasons.
You both Rock! I just love how you two work well togeather. I know how hard you work at making all things work. I too can all I get my hands on, and live off the land. Give us more! I never get sick of your videos! Glad your here for us. People have no clue how to live close to the ground and what it takes to make it. Your my type of people!
I have watched many and this couple are the most normal ones and I love their show. They are very knowledgeable and natural.
Looking at the ice shield is massive and the scenery is amazing. That is a lot of bees and will do the pollination this summer. The cinnamon rolls look yummy. It will be great when you can start planting. Until the next video take and be safe. (Judy NB)🌲🇨🇦
Thank you for keeping me in a state of Peace at times your lifestyle is absolutely beautiful don't ever forget that sweeties
Your videography is always wonderful. This time it was over the top. Wow!!!
I just ❤️ Beau! He always has the most interesting looks on his furry face!!
I love that I get to see a state that I will probably never get to visit…I am treated to your stunning videos and feel like I’ve almost been there! Thank you so much…and I love watching you both working on your home, garden, your dogs and just everything! Hugs from Texas!
I can't wait to see the rest of your new chicks! It's so hard to pick a favorite breed. Our barred Plymouth rocks are very social and friendly, we have a copper Maran that's an absolute sweetheart, and our Easter Eggers are soo smart & clever. Breathtaking footage at the beginning..What an amazing adventure to celebrate spring!
If you look on day 3, and the wings have two different sized feathers (two heights) you can count that a hen. All same size it's likely a roo.
That scenery is beautiful!
Soooooo beautiful sooooo peaceful can't wait for what's to come
Happy Birthday Mr. Eric! I absolutely love y'alls videos. Thank you for making them!
So beautiful!! Thank you for sharing these amazing views. Y’all are an awesome couple to watch!!
Breathtaking footage such a beautiful place
What a wonderful video, the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Great job on the videography. And oh my my, those cinnamon buns, I can smell them here in North Carolina. Yummy
Opening to the glacier was stunning! Thanks!
I could literally smell those cinnamon rolls.... OMG they looked incredible with the berries on top!!! Great video!!!
Spectacular footage of the mountains. Love how you balance your enjoyment of Alaska with the work it takes to be able to enjoy it.
Fantastic job as always! Thank you for sharing your Alaska with us. I have visited Alaska several times but you show us things we would never be able to see.
Thank you for sharing your life, home, and wonderful pet’s. Love them all.
Beautiful scenery! Love your videos! Thank you!
Watching this video made me feel peaceful and euphoric, like I was on a wonderful relaxing vacation.
From your small jet plane ride to the remote cabin, the fantastic joy of the first catch, and the grueling work of life. Thank you for sharing your journey with lil’ol me.
You guys always choose some of the most beautiful music for your videos and it goes so well with the breath taking scenes❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍
Yah, spring is here! Awesome videos guys!
welcome spring..lots of activities to do. keep it up and work
I have to agree with your opening statement because I feel the same way. The experiences and opportunities I had were unreal and had my parents stayed in Texas, my life would be totally different today. So I am extremely grateful for my life in Alaska and the journey I was able to take! Few people ever get that opportunity!
I like the look of the cinnamon buns but I once had birch beer and broke out in a Christmas tree rash. The thought of drinking and eating birch sap scares me now. Love the video.
Spectacular scenery! Thanks for always sharing Alaska with us. Happy spring! ☀
Absolutely gorgeous views of God’s creation! I love seeing all your animals. Your videos are always so peaceful and relaxing. I really needed this today. Thank you! Take care and God bless y’all ❤️.
Beautiful views of Alaska (part of)!! Thanks for taking us along!
You guys film just some amazing views. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful life with us!!
