Here is a link to the text about the fermented millk called "fil", or in our case, "Långfil" www.talasbuan.com/english-blog/fil Do you have any stories or memorys of eating home made fil? Here is more information about raw milk: www.realmilk.com/
My mother used to make fil using a warming machine called a yogurt maker. She used store purchased yogurt as the starter and powdered milk mixed with light cream as this gave the fil a thicker consistency. Also, the powdered milk is not ultra pasteurized. The store purchased milk here in the US is now destroyed by the Ultra-pasteurization process and it’s useless for making homemade cheese or yogurt because all the protein chains have been destroyed by the 280 F degree heat. Unfortunately, it is also illegal in many states for cow owners to sell raw milk. I get around this problem by either purchasing an interest in a cow (such as 1/8th ownership for $200 per year) and then I get a 1/8th portion of milk from my cow each week when she’s milking, or I buy raw milk in baggies that’s meant for animal consumption. No one needs to know that I’m not feeding it to my hog. The second method is a little sketchy because of the possibility of contamination. Ownership interest also lets me choose which kind of cow I want my milk from. I started out with Holsteins, but I’ve switched to Belted Galloways because there’s more fat and it’s richer. I pour a little raw honey or fig jam on my fil. I’ll have to try the raw egg yolk. Thanks for another fabulous video.

Don't worry about repeating what you film. It's the repetition of daily living that makes your channel so interesting. The cooking, animals, and building projects are what make this so appealing. The only thing I could say to make this better would be to post videos more often. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
I disagree Cyndi because they need to film at a slower pace which compliments their lifestyle ... this lifestyle is extremely time consuming and with the new child and animals to look after not to mention time for their reading and keeping that wood stove burning round the clock and fermenting foods plus lots more ..... It s truly amazing to me that they find time to film what they do film. But, I can understand why you want more videos. More does not always equate to better. Just another viewpoint from another fan of the Talasbaun Channel.
The beauty in your visuals with the chosen music gives me warm fuzzies. You young souls are going to save this planet. This brings me to tears watching your videos. Your videos are teaching a joy that can be found in simplicity and a happiness thats pure and uncompromised. This is exactly what this is all about! Keep up this amazing work you are making more of an impact than you know. It's you, it's your peace, your sincerity, your pure self that's magical in both of you. I'm 62 disabled grandmother in Seattle, Washington my grandfathers came here from one Norway one Poland. If I found you by pure accident many others will too. Blessings to your beautiful family and thank you from my heart to yours.
In a world full of chaos, I enjoy the beauty and simplicity of your life. The camera footage is so beautiful and brings me peace. Your little family is amazing! Many blessings 🙏
I have commented before about your fantastic editing from what is clearly a LOT of footage. The other remarkable point to make is just how you understand the need for silence at times, natural sounds at other times and then a clever use of such soothing music. So Scandinavian......less is more. If you have nothing to say, say nothing. Your clever filming shows the beautiful countryside and sometimes the pictures are enough. I am an Aussie living in Munich and a big fan.
When he was going in between the trees my heart stopped-- I remembered when the drone fell and this time it was right between the trees or at least it seemed that way
Yup. :-) Also here. Amazing thing. But at the driving in the snow with the scooter, I felt like some oldtime-computergame! (Except the "graphics" is way better now! :-D And we did not fail even once! :-) So beautifull in sweden, and also wonderfull to hear some sweedish, as we danes understand most of it. Coasy! That little charming boy is also adorable. I even felt like maybe I would try out making the fermented milk. :-) Thank you for all the hard work put into making those videos. From yet another homesteader in Denmark,
@@danaysalvarado367yes. I miss shooting stars and the milky way in the night. I spent my childhood in my grandparents village. we slept on the roof top of house on the summer nights. I still can remember lying on my back, watching thousands of bright stars, milky way and in awe of shooting stars. The sound of frogs from the nearby river, dogs barking and sound of nature were soothing. My grandparents have gone a long time ago but those happy memories of my childhood are still with me to this day. Bless their souls. I dearly miss them and those old days.
@@danaysalvarado367 yes. We used to sleep on the roof top the whole summer nights in my grands house. Those summer nights are my most memorable time of my life.
It grieves me to hear of people 'interfering' with SUCH a beautiful life as yours. People tend to 'push' what 'they believe' is better, or they simply canNOT accept through jealousy/envy ALLLLLLL that you have. Your lives are soOOOoo rich! You really have everything that matters...health, peace, love, your homestead, a simple 'uncomplicated' life, fresh water, clean air, beauty of nature, a sweet home, talents to enrich your lives and already in your young years...much experience and understanding of plant and animal husbandry. You are both wonderful cooks. You are well-organized and planning simple and beneficial home improvements such as the cool house. When you have time (and this is hard to come by and often needs outside assistance i.e. family/friends) you work towards your other home. You sacrifice very much of your time for the making of these videos for us, and I pray it inspires people to give, as the wealth you offer us is a treasure to be sure. THEN...you have sacrificed and through great love, brought little Ivar into this world. He is growing up into a life of endless bounty, opportunity and all swaddled up in parents who love and are proud of him. It just doesn't get better, and I am afraid when some people see this...it is as a 'clawing' from a mad cat...your wealth and peace and love...unnerve many 'restless ones'. Let the oppressive remarks fall as water off a duck's back. Thank you for this beautiful video. It was absolutely precious to see Ivar play the little xylophone and by lack of co-ordination...bonk gentle Malva (dog) in the snout. SoOOOoo CUTE! God's continued abundant blessings upon you n' yours! :) P.S. WELL DONE Matthias on the vid and edits. Your appreciation and deep spiritual awareness come through each time. Tova, you too are a wonderful gift to each one in your family. The food is always so healthy and delicious looking! ALSO...the relationship/love/appreciation you have for your animals is simply amazing! WELL DONE! WELL DONE! WELL DONE!
@@danaysalvarado367 Sandra Westley people manage, it’s only today that people must have this or that, years ago a house that was 2 up and 2 down, like my grandfather was brought up in they had 9 boys, and adopted a girl,😂😂 the house did t get any bigger, they managed. It’s just this generation that must have this space that object etc etc but it wasn’t a,ways like that.
Since you asked..... I'll share my opinion! I'm blown away by your photography skills, each scene is so clear, I feel like I am there without the cold! What a magical winter wonderland! I love your long format, it gives me time to calm down and escape into your videos. I need the escape from the stresses of my life. Your photography is so professional, plus I love the simply explanations you offer, it quickly answers my questions that come up in my mind. You should millions of subscribers in my humble opinion! The intense beauty with the most perfect music choices is the reason why I watch. And it's nice to see another part of the world. Please keep up the fabulous work you are doing with your videos. You really should be a top UA-camr with your videography and editing skills! I loved your wife's wreath making video. It inspired me to cut some evergreens and bring them in the house. I have asked my husband to make the wreath template your wife showed in the video. Your family is just precious. You and your wife seem so mature in your decision making process. I appreciate that in young families. Oh, buy a snowmobile, don't think you will regret it! It may make a comprising situation worth it! Or greater enjoyment with kids later. Your son playing the xlyophone was so adorable! Keep going, you guys are going to pick up speed with your videos and gain momentum soon. You both are awesome!
Ivar is so adorable, and those cheeks just call out to be kissed! :-) I'm from a small town in the upper Midwest of the USA. I grew up exploring the northwoods in every season. I now live a stressful, but fulfilling, life in the Mid-Atlantic. I miss snowy winters!! Today is the first time we have had more than a dusting of snow in 3 years! I will get back to my forest roots someday, but for now your videos bring me stress relief, and peaceful calm. I make time to watch every new release. As long as you keep making them and enjoy doing so, I will be watching them. Thank you for sharing your world with us.
Yes, Ivar giving us a xylophone concert....I had to look up the spelling....lol....Ivar, your song was outstanding....keep playing, I love it when Mommy and Daddy show us how creative and happy you are. Ivar, you are blessed by God to have the parents you have. You my dear are a gift. ❤
There will always be someone telling you both what you should or should not do. You follow your hearts...beautiful family. I so enjoy all of your videos.
I am a patron, so I feel in a way, that you are my “extended family”. I think about you throughout the month and wonder how you are doing and always send you good wishes. I have been eagerly awaiting your post and today it came. All of the beauty and authenticity of your lives that you are sharing is very healing for me. I am deeply grateful. 🙏
The "modern" hippie. No disparaging tut tuts...I am STILL a hippie, but seeing life off the grid, the commune we tried to start - well, we were naive and frankly, too lazy, not stoned, just "citified"- our attempt wasn't an extended camping trip but we naive, strictly vegetarian and had an old, old, old car (the floor was "missing" in the back seat! Very disconcerting to watch the road seemingly close to your bare feet...) I love your panoramic Vista views of the pines, I can feel that clean, crisp air on my face healing me...Namaste, Z
@@MSYNGWIE12 Yes, similar to "hippie" and that back to the earth ideal. We had regular jobs and the best I could do was getting a Dodge van and setting it up as a 'steel tent." Best part of that was a stabilized slide-out platform for a telescope -- at Talasbuan all you'd need is binoculars for spectacular star-hopping.
I just watched your video first time you are amazing people such a afford to live a simple life I am wishing you all the best and looking forward for Spring best wishes Simona
I wouldn't worry about what you don't have yet because what you do have is wonderful. You live in the most beautiful place in the world. Further, and perhaps more important, you have a wonderful loving family unit which I am so honored to be able to watch. Thanks so much!
the biggest smile i've had in a long time was from watching your happy little boy making music on his xylophone while your beautiful dog listened to him play. God bless you all.
wow, you're getting pretty proficient with the Drone, beautiful footage. There is always something new in each video. I like watching the working around the farm, love seeing the dogs and farm animals. Just love everything, never get tired of watching
I love your warm home, you keep it like I would, nice and simple, your little guy is soo cute , we all have a long list of things to do, but it's the important things we try to get to , the wonderful goals list Lol, thank you for sharing your experiences, and family 🙏❤🙏
One minute we’re toasting in a family video, then rocketing around Hoth, then learning how to ferment whole milk... I love it. Keep being you, it’s great!
You brought tears to my eyes when you doubted repeats. Watching you two manage your life in sometimes harsh conditions makes me respect what you are doing. The beautiful scenery and music is so soothing. I feel you are a part of my life and get so happy when I see there is a new video and my guess is there are many others. Ivar is so darling. Watching you all grow is so fun to watch. Keep doing what you do. dianne
Binge watched! Lol. I have watched all of your videos. I have learned a lot from you!! Tell your stories. We love to watch your everyday life. It’s fascinating!
I know you guys deal with a lot of natural obstacles living in the forest like that but know that your family will have purer hearts and clearer minds because of that. The cities make people forget. I’m so happy to see families who still cherish the earth and live in it, not on it. Keep doing an amazing job you guys
Watching from Fiji your stunning surrounding and enviable lifestyle. Such a beautiful family and with parents like you, Ivar who is so adorable, will be an amazing child and adult much like the parents! Simply lovely of you to share your stories😇
Ivar is such a happy sweet baby. My great niece and nephews have been having computer screens and tv since they were about 6 months old. These poor children are sad and easily bored. They live in a semi rural place but rarely go outside. I feel so sorry for them. Your lifestyle is so good for your baby. I love your beautiful videos. It is also bitterly cold here in Canada. I loved to see you skiing with your dog. She looked so happy to be running with you. Your family is an inspiration to us all. Thanks so much.
Methias, I love your stories and videos and believe me they never get old. I love watching you your drone footage your meals and spending time with your family. It warms my heart. 🤗👍❤
The video footage in the snow riding under fallen branches then swapping to the drone actually looked like you were flying.. raw pure pleasure .. stunning ..
I’ve lived with you for three days. What an escape from lockdown London. You’re video making has improved greatly and is unique and yes banging that ice is exactly what we want to see and hear. Thank you for your content. It’s good for my health ♥️
i love everything about this channel. each scene feels spiritual, and there’s a very abstract explanation for it but what i’ll say now is to continue being authentic and firm in your connection with our earth. your consciousness for the world around you is very admirable and i love watching this channel grow. with love, always. 📜🕯🏹 💌♥️🕊

I binge-watched all your videos! I found your channel when you posted Ivar's birth video and I was about to have my 3rd baby. That was the loveliest and most inspiring home birth video I have ever seen! While sitting and nursing for hours I watched every video on your channel, and have been watching ever since. Your videos are so beautiful and inspiring! I don't mind repeats at all.
Im watching your videos from few days ago.... And i found it so much worthing... its different from others .... Im eagerly waiting your upcoming video.. love from Nepal 🇳🇵
Hello Mathias Tova and of course baby Ivar. From the first time that one of your video's appeared in my newsfeed I was hooked and 'Binged watched every episode after that. I followed your pregnancy up until the birth of your baby with anticipated excitement for you like I was a family member and I was happy to feel a part of your beautiful life there in Sweden although I'm sure that we will never meet in person I still feel affection and admiration for the lifestyle that you have created together. Your video's are peaceful and the filming is outstanding. Do not worry about repeating anything at all because in daily life most things stay the same for all of us. I just love watching everything you do and will never tire of it. Peace and Blessings from the UK.
I never get tired of seeing your lifestyle...even if you repeat information. Please don't think your vlogs are boring because they are not. And seeing your ADORABLE baby growing up!!!!
Hello from Scotland. Its so good to see you all again your son is getting big 😊. I hope you are all well I enjoy your video's so much what lovely people you are. 😊
Ah, beautiful Winter! Every season includes hard work when you are self reliant. I appreciate the time and energy you put into these videos. Hopefully you both get enjoyment from sharing with us too. Perhaps it is a nice creative break from hauling hay, splitting wood, shoveling snow, cleaning animal pens,, filling water containers, meal preparation, sleepless nights with a teething baby and endless snow shoveling! We love the three of you! 💙💗💙
thankyou for your videos. they are beyond beautiful. the part where the sun hit the tops of trees was so magical. Dont worry about repeats, you are providing peace and beauty during this long pandemic time and i look forward to each video you produce. Thankyou so much for all the work and effort that goes into these.
Great music in the skiing scene. And a happy dog. Brilliant. Ideas: I would love to see you in the workshop, making. How you manage your chickens in such a deep winter. The tips about fermenting and meat production, I always appreciate. And, discussion about regenerative agriculture as it pertains to your part of the world. The traditional methods you use fit into agroecological farming well, and it is worth talking about.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful calming beauty. I loved watching Malva snow swim after she went skiing with you, happy dog. It’s so astonishing how fast time flies. Share the things your heart desires, it will never get old for us. ❤️☮️☕️-Kirsten
Aww so nice you connect! I recently started watching both of your channels ( youtube recommended them) and looked up where you live in Sweden... turns out you are in the same middle part!
The way you fly your drone feels like a bird in flight. I have never before wished I could fly. Until now. Everything about what you create, both for your home and family, and the content for all of us, is SO soothing to the soul. Your vision (in which ever facet you can imagine) resonates with those of us that feel the same as you, as proven by the many, many lengthy and heartfelt comments. I am also one of those that started watching your videos from the beginning and been 100% drawn in by your way of creating, your thoughts, and the things you speak of. I always feel like I am right there. I agree with the previous comment: Talasbuan is THE best channel here. ❤️
I could never ever be bored with your content. It’s always so stunningly beautiful. It’s minus 17 here 🇨🇦 and sunny and bright. We have had a mild winter compared to most years. About 40 cm of snow right now, and the snowmobile drivers are having a blast. Lots of trails in the back woods. I love living here. I wouldn’t have it any other way. ☮️💕
In a world that is so full of angst... your videos provide a time to stop and reflect on love and peace and beauty. I never think about them being repetitive at all. You are Blessed ❤️
AWESOME FOOTAGE!!! Gosh golly I can never get enough of this ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 Please don't stop showing us your life! I don't feel like it's all the same at all. I just looked at Ivar, he's gotten so big! I love his happy face. His lovable ears somehow seem to compliment that happiness.
I am amazed at your young age and how hard you work. You know so much about taking care of animals, garden, building your home etc. I am so much older and would not know how to live like you both🥰
@@Talasbuan Well, the snow looks amazing. I'm in Wisconsin, and we just had a large snowfall and temps this morning below 0 F. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for a look at very rural Sweden.
Your drome filming through the snow-filled landscapes are just beautiful! Makes one forget the freezing temperatures that goes alone with it, just to be able to see this beauty!
without a doubt ,,, the best drone footage on youtube .. it is absolutely genius to be able to do that and then edit it for your audience .. been watching you as two and now three and beautiful dog ..sharing you with my friends of facebook .. love your videos .. they make my heart jump when i see a new vid posted.. you are remarkable people :) can't wait to see you play outdoors when the weather breaks with your little guy ..
Just beautiful! Your photography and editing, music and drone footage is amazing! I realized watching him at the end that I’m so happy to just watch little Ivar, as if he were my own grandchild! He is so adorable and you are lovely parents. (Maybe a day in the life of Ivar would be fun!) I grew up on a 200 year old farm in New Hampshire, USA. We were very far from everywhere and I loved it! That part of my life is something I cherish and miss. I totally understand your passion for off grid living and learning the old ways. Your videos are always inspiring and breathtaking! Never worry that we are bored! The only thing I’d like to see is maybe old traditions, old ways of making food or keeping house or making things for the running of your farm, always interested in what you eat. But, you do those too already, so, just keep being your wonderful selves and thank you for sharing! Blessings on your little family!
I love watching your daily lives, over and over. I don’t find any of it boring as I love the perspective of your life in Sweden. Keep going! You are all so incredibly refreshing and cherished. Thank you for all your hard work 💜
Your place is fairy land!!!! All the trees covered with snow n oh my god that night sky full of stars!!!! Absolutely stunning, d beauty of nature is indeed indescribable!!
I binge watched your blogs through my Christmas holiday in 2019 when I was quite depressed. It really cheered me up. I have watched all your new vlogs as they come out. I like the repetition because each video contains a special feeling no matter what you show that is very tranquil. I find the slow unfolding of your projects very interesting and the growth of your family is a delight to me.
I like the repetition of the cycles of your daily lives, it is very restful and down to earth. The little Mr giraffe keeper is very nice. He has a good set of teeth now. But your dog is our favourite.
I also enjoy the repetition and cyclical nature of your videos. It has been fun and educational to learn with you and see what changes and what stays the same year over year. Keep up the great work!
Your videography instincts and creativeness is never repetitive. Thank you for taking us on this journey and sharing its beautiful details. It is my Swedish vitamin. 🤙
The repetition is soothing. There's always something new to make it interesting. A new animal, a track that is more beaten than the year before, a new hay rack, an older child, progress on the farstu, etc. It's easier to see your growth if you film the same things over and over again.
you have a fantastic eyes for filming , the cinematography , the drone footage , the balance between music and nature sound ,everything is perfect , the calm you give us through these footage is very much appreciated thank you .
Hello Mathias, Tova and and Ivar! 😁 My husband and I have found you and have been watching since Vlog 1! We love the beautiful peaceful resilient sustainable way of life you are living and we always look forward to watching you teach us something new and interesting and just relaxing with the breathtaking beauty of your Drone film making and photography of the beauty of your homestead, your family to taking care of your beautiful animals, the beautiful wood crafting and building of your home , the recipes and cooking you share with us,,, has simply been such a blessing in these hard times,,, we love our evenings watching you when we can!! 🤗 Never feel your repeating too much,,, its peaceful, relaxing and so appreciated by us and everyone!! It is sort of addictive this flying :)
@@Talasbuan I wanna try!
When he was going in between the trees my heart stopped-- I remembered when the drone fell and this time it was right between the trees or at least it seemed that way
They are.... Beautiful
From yet another homesteader in Denmark,
Haha, yes I binge watch. So far I never get tired of the peacefulness, the sounds of your voices as you describe your lives.
My god the sky with millions of stars was so breath taking view. thank you for another wonderful video.
Well it be that way with the stars its clean air.
Right, no pollution but it made me think of the things we miss at night-- like shooting stars breathtaking
@genchem laguardia you just gave me an excellent idea. I'll have to go up on the roof in the summer with my grandkids
WELL DONE! WELL DONE! WELL DONE!
Nicely put.
It's great to see you back, and don't worry about some repetition. There is a peace in these videos and I think a lot of people are here for that.
You said it-- the peacefulness
Well said Shane!
Oh that dog in the snow. What joy.
Adorable Ivar is such a happy and healthy baby.
The star finds the camera instinctively @ 28:00 then adds a solo worthy of Billie Eilish !
I cant wait to see how they are going to manage in such a small space when he starts walking around- he's such a curious, and active baby
@@danaysalvarado367
They will be moving in the larger cabin they are building as soon as is ready.
The sound of naturally flowing water is the best anxiety reliever in the whole world....thank you Mathias. 😊
Yes, that closeup shot of the water and the ice was beautiful detail he captured
I enjoyed the little xylophone concert at the end the most 😍😄
Yes, Ivar giving us a xylophone concert....I had to look up the spelling....lol....Ivar, your song was outstanding....keep playing, I love it when Mommy and Daddy show us how creative and happy you are.
What a great post. Good to see people like you still exist...(appreciative and caring)
The drone footage is out of this world! Feel like I'm in an IMAX theatre almost 💫
This would be awesome on an IMAX screen.
the biggest smile i've had in a long time was from watching your happy little boy making music on his xylophone while your beautiful dog listened to him play. God bless you

He is precious...so much love and Joy is his bright and loving eyes
wow, you're getting pretty proficient with the Drone, beautiful footage.

I could watch the baby play the xylophone all day if he had his own channel I would watch it! all day ! So precious!

Your child is "all his mother", we say in Italian to compliment you. He's beautiful, growing up a lot!
Yeah, he definitely takes after his mother!! Good lookin kid, always seems happy!

He is growing so fast! Beautiful boy and so healthy!! You are wonderful parents. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. 🙏🙏❤
Thanks so much.

i love everything about this channel.
each scene feels spiritual, and there’s a very abstract explanation for it but what i’ll say now is to continue being authentic and firm in your connection with our earth. your consciousness for the world around you is very admirable and i love watching this channel grow.

Gosh golly I can never get enough of this ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Please don't stop showing us your life!

I grew up on a 200 year old farm in New Hampshire, USA.
It is like visiting with an old friend every time I watch your video and just checking to see how big the baby is now.
I don’t think any of us care about repetition. We just love to see this beautiful simple life you live that most of us long for. Keep it up my friend!
We so enjoy your video's.....Love learning from y'all and seeing baby boy growing too...Saying "Hello" from Dallas, Texas...2021.
your dog, cooling down in the snow...priceless. Love your drone footage and so glad I found you on youtube!
