This is genuinely so cool at this price point. As a professional sound recordist though, I'm waiting for the Quad RX in slot form and I'll buy a million of them!!
Nice mayonnaise commercial!
Oh my god. You're filming a mayonnaise commercial. That joke alone is good enough to get my business. 😂
YES! The Mayonnaise Commercial 😂 it's perfect.
Can we just all appreciate that the set they are staging this presentation on is a mayo commercial? XD I've lost track of the amount of times I've told random passerby's that we're shooting a mayo commercial to keep them from getting interested.
HAHAHA I have to rewatch now. it looks like a set from a previous product release commercial. Maybe the conspiracy is that it's been a mayonnaise commercial this whole time?
Looks amazing! I’ve preordered.
I do hope you make a theos XLR plug on transmitter for shotgun mics!
We are working on a plug-on style transmitter.
answered my question !@@DeityMicrophones
😂I love the Mayonnaise commercial reference that going on in the back ground as Andrew speaks! Well done!!!
If this system performs on the level of the marketing, this is going to be great and my go to moving forward. I hope more companies produce a product similar. As of right now I don’t know of a handheld wireless microphone that can do all of this. Having a built in 32 bit float recorder in a microphone would be great!!! Or at least an xlr adapter.
A great first step in this direction! Would like to see a plug on TX and a 4-8 channel true diversity RX follow.
I'll ask here too for GoPro users. PLEASE add a Timebar app like tentacle sync has so GoPros can look at a qr code and sync timecode with the deity ecosystem.
Any price on the PR2 yet?
This sounds great. I'm in the US and I know internal recording isn't allowed here, but I'm still going to upgrade to these. If I absolutely need internal 32 bit recording, I'll use my RODE wireless pros. But it seems like the Theos would still be a major improvement. What really sells me on these is the bit about digital packets instead of an analog feed. That whole RF thing is a serious issue and I'm excited to see how you've addressed it. I'm rocking the TC1's, just got the slate, and Theos is next.
other than my suggestion above. it looks like these things have headphone jacks on the transmitters so a short 1ft/6" 3.5 inch cable could go over to the recorder of your choice defeating the patent troll.
Edit: although I vaguely remember the patent covering the use of audio outputs during recording and some devices shutting off that output on the transmitter/ mini recorder. Which is really annoying because I really wanted to take my 50 pound Radio Mic and duct tape it to my 50 pound real to reel recorder and then duct tape that to an actor but alas nobody has ever thought of doing that until 2022. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that technology is only now just supporting that a recorder and transmitter could be combined < sarcasm.
But I love how the patent even covers the analog hole on some devices!
Unreal. Well done, Deity
Looks great. I'm still a little perturbed that I bought a Duo Kit like a month before it was discontinued... I would love to upgrade, but I just can't be sure at this point it'll continue to be supported.
Your Deity Connect kit is still supported under warranty. We have many spare units on a shelf; just waiting in case someone emails.
All in on Deity now
This is the last video I have watched on the Deity THEOS system. Just ordered 2 sets from B&H. Thanks.
How’s the Theos system going
@@azasoundz really really good. good transmission!
Nice launch, can't wait to have this in my bag or camera ;-)
Ugh. Frustrating to see that the US patent on something as overbroad and obvious as "a mouse trap that both contains bait to attract a mouse AND a device to trap the mouse" is still wasting everyone's time and actually impeding "the progress of science and useful arts."
Especially since that patent system was designed so people could share ideas not block ideas.
Can you elaborate on which patent owns by who?
I hear You! I travel a lot and bought a couple units. I was told my units would adapt VIA my phone GPS , when I’m in Europe or Asian and allow my US units to both record and transmit. I received my units 2 days ago and have been giddy with excitement. I turn on UA-cam to see a video of Andrew saying that e en if you travel overseas, You still can not record and transmit because you bought North American Units. I may send mine back and wait to purchase when I’m overseas. Very depressing.
Finally a system that incoperates all my wishes and feels like a real upgradecfrom my current system!
Since you already answered your plans for the Plug-On transmitter, I have 2 other questions:
1. Are you planning a Slot-In RX?
2. Are you planning a monitoring solution?
I was hearing „Theos ecosystem“ a few times, so I feel like you have a few new devices to come.
There's a lot of devices to come
@@DeityMicrophones that’s great news! For someone who is into Slot-In devices.. is it worth to wait a little? Would be uncool to buy into the ENG-RX just having to buy new Slot-Ins shortly after..
@@tonlaeuft it won't be shortly after
Now there's only one thing to do : Enable Sidus Audio to import an audio file, attach timecode to it and play it back via Bluetooth while simultaneously syncing with TC-1 devices. Shooting music videos will be so much easier....
Ok you're asking for the holy Grail now
@@YoungBlaze Have been asking Tentacle for seven years already, Deity only the second year in asking. Bluetooth jamming now makes this dead easy to do.
Looks fantastic team. Well done.
Is this system dual diversity or is the antennas divided up into mic 1 + mic 2 individually?
Please someone answer this
Why would you want to monitor the audio from the the transmitter thaner than the camera at 11:28?
Any updates on the Pocket Recorders?
So the 'built in back up recorder' mentioned at 3:42 will not work as an alternate menthod if the recorder is transmitting audio to a reciever?
hello ! great video and great product overall ! I would like to ask a question , why theo 100mw output is not available outside of USA ? As stated in your website
The majority countries restrict RF power to 50mW. The USA is different in that it restricts RF power to 250mW by law.
The mayonnaise commercial in the back LOL- Nice!
What ball mount attachment is that holding the TC-1 to the sound bag @9:42? Thanks!
Are the antennas meant to cover the whole spectrum or do we have to consider having different length antennas when changing freq blocks?
It looks like they ship with different antennas based on region from the manual.
We use a sony A7siii and want to use the timecode as a back up. Will the receiver send the timecode data into one channel through the 3.5 input on the camera and then the audio through the other channel?
Do US models record and transmit simultaneously outside of the US?
No they do not.
Deity: Can you still monitor audio from the Receiver even when on internal record mode on a US model? If so, take my money.
7:06 "cannot transmit and record in the US." gonna be a no from me dog, such a shame I want to buy but no point.
Te lo mando io dall'italia, non ti deprimere 😂
Excellent overview.
Any chance that one of the two outputs on the RX can be used to output timecode so we don't need an additional timecode box on the camera when the unit used mounted to the camera for onemanband shooters? or would that just be limiting sales of the TC1?
The D2RX does not feature a TXCO crystal to even produce a timecode. It was only ever meant to be a compact dual channel receiver.
Question!? People are saying you can’t transmit and record simultaneously in the US because of a patent thing. I can’t figure out what transmitting and recording is actually doing as I am new to uhf recordings but am wanting to get into audio. Can someone explain it to me please.
I was hoping to have it plugged in my camera and then have the audio baked in. But also have a back up of 32bit recording saved to the memory card on the unit. Will that not work because of the patent laws?
Is there a way around that limitation if you use other equipment?
This will totally work as long as you're not in the United States. Without hacking the firmware or hacking your GPS to get a different region it looks like it's firmware locked. Theoretically when the patent expires they could send an update.
The idea is that if for any reason the wireless audio signal from the microphone to the receiver where to cut out ruining your recording on the camera /ex recorder the inbuilt recorder would have a backup copy of everything.
Unfortunately due to a patent troll in my opinion there is a company I want to say Zacks Com that thinks that this is their proprietary right ( since you can literally patent everything including things that really shouldn't be patentable these days and get a certain judge to defend you ) and in this case they own the right to have a device that both records and transmits. I believe this also covers the ability to use the audio output on some devices like mini recorders well it is recording if I'm remembering this right I remember seeing some devices that turn off the audio output when used with US firmware/variant hardware.
Unfortunately a firmware will not fix the issue. Deity on these comments stated that the devices are physically different from the US version to foreign versions, therefore making the US version not be able to record and transmit at the same time permanent.@@imark7777777
Love the product! Would be awesome if you could pay to unlock sim record and transmit like you do for some camera codec specs. I so wish I could do both or that the unit would auto record if it knew there was a drop in RF.
3:51 someone knows what's that for a neat console/controller? :)
Will the body back still record and transmit as a backup just not the reciever record andr recieve?
Would this be suitable for live streaming? Does it being digital add a significant delay that would make it not work for this purpose?
Can't transmit and record at the same time in the US? 😭😭😭
Patton troll
00:16 Hey Changsoo 🤩
Red owns that patent lmao
Red owns your mom.
i heard you have to choose between transmitting and recording onboard the transmitter?
At 4:04 there is a battery holster for the S-95. Who makes that?
COGA Sound
is there any plans for a Plug-On Transmitter?
Yes
If you have two sets of Theos or more within range when you go to pair the DBTXs to the D2BXs how do they know which to pair to? Also if a DBTX falls out of range of the D2RX and then goes back in range will it re-auto pair?
can we buy it in Canada and use it in the US without any limitations?
Amazing! I pre-ordered :) Question - Is the US Model different when it comes to the hardware that allows it to transmit and record at the same time? I know the feature is disabled due to the patent, but I wonder if it could be enabled in the future via a firmware update if things were to change.
the US Model is different.
@@DeityMicrophones what happens in the future then? Will it be able to back up and record when the patent goes away? Because you said in the video that it changes when you go to a different country automatically so wouldn’t this make it work? Or will that not be the case?
Is it a firmware difference with the same hardware or is there an actual hardware difference defeating the universal equipment for all regions. Looks like a different antenna ships based on different region. So I'm thinking it's a firmware limitation that hopefully will get updated by the time the patent expires in the year 4023 @@DeityMicrophones
Hi Deity! Just got mine. When attached to a sony mirrorless camera with included cable, only left channel has audio. How to have both left and right channel audio using just 1 transmitter?
Perfect
12:57 is the audio recorder limitation while transmitting a hardware limitation or software? If I travel to another country like South America, would I have access to that feature since the patent doesn’t apply there?
Units sold in the USA and/or operated inside the USA can not transmit and record. So if you bought a US Model and took it to South America, it was still a unit sold in the USA.
@@DeityMicrophones thanks for that clarification.
so where to buy a non US unit?
@@ygorbarker 1) live in another country 2) find a local dealer in that country 3) call them
@@DeityMicrophones So when I take a non-US unit to the US and operate it there it will disable the feature? Will it be re-enabled once the unit leaves the country?
Is the global version’s RF power capabale of 100mw while in the us? Or is it capped at 50mw?
Hello! Just got my Deity Theos today. Problem is it only receives input thru channel A on the left channel with my Sony mirrorless camera. But seeing your video, both left and right channel receives input.
How do I make this stereo? Thanks!
Beginner (dumb?) question. Can set the channel as mic or only line?
Assuming I can just hook this up to my Sound devices as well and record everything from my mixer?
Correct
Amazing. How about having single channel of this product.
You can buy pieces individually to build your own single channel.
If I want to transmit and record simultaneously, not like the US version, where should I get these from? Say if I get it from B&H, all units are not nable to transmit and record simultaneously even if I used them outside of USA?
Well, you'd be buying them from a US retailer do they would still be US sold units.
@@DeityMicrophones Where and how can I get the non-US version?
@@user-nu8bf3bf9m
@@user-nu8bf3bf9m
@@user-nu8bf3bf9m That was my thought what happens to a non-US unit in the US does it disable the recorder? Although I think the non-US version has lower power. And then what happens to a US version outside of the US does it enable the recorder? Otherwise I could see a lot of people trying to buy the non-US version.
Does the USA version transmit and record at the SAME TIME?
No.
Hmmm this is very nice
Can timecode be wirelessly jammed on the Tx with different brand timecode generators?
Of course.
I am getting the new iPhone 15 pro max has usb c port have any how to set up audio with my deity mic D4 mini will I need adaptor etc and how can I be my own sound guy and make boompole as a one man crew thank you
Sounds like you want to be able to connect the receiver to the iPhone and use that as the recorder? The unit comes with a USB type C to type C cable and most of their previous models from my understanding and this one supports the generic USB audio codec says the device can show up as an audio interface which is compatible with the ios. And now that Apple has moved to USB-C, a C-C cable we'll connect one to the other. This can also be accomplished with USB camera adapter for lightning devices.
Can you also jam the TC on the system with existing timecode systems? Or simply from the recorder itself with a cable from TC Out?
Yes you can. The DBTX can receive TC via the mic input. Simple plug in your tc source, go to the tc menu, and select jam to sync. Now you can replace your tc source with a lav mic and you're good to go.
@@DeityMicrophones Mind blowing details, thank you!
Thanks that is not very clear. @@DeityMicrophones
Is the mic input on the tx compatible with the Sennheiser trs lav connector?
Yes. It is wired for standard TRS connectors.
@@DeityMicrophones so, the trs pin out is the same as the Sennheiser Evolution and not the Sony. Correct? Thanks
I still have Deity HD-TX, but want to use it for my boom mic and have cordless connection to my sound mixer. Aso i want to use it for live tv interviews. What receiver can i use for it?
you could use the old BP-TRX or DUO-RX. Both are discontinued but just yesterday someone one facebook was selling 4 for $150 each.
@@DeityMicrophones is the D2RX- Theos parable receiver not compatible?
@@jjfilmstudios_ No. They operate in different frequency bands and use different wireless protocols.
Can the transmitters provide phantom power?
Not these models
Is the TX unit a Transmit and Record device. Or a Transmit or Record device?
Depends on which country you bought/use it in.
@@DeityMicrophones thanks for that clarification! The patent hurdle has'nt gone away yet.
Is there latency?
Haven't listened all yet, maybe you answered

Too much! ahah, no it's great :)
Thanks for the answer!@@DeityMicrophones
Thanks this is not listed in the pre-release manual @@DeityMicrophones
I do a lot of live stuff so having low latency has been the killer reason I haven't been able to get deity stuff even though I would love to.
Please tell Andrew to send those to Allen Williams for a review soon as possible.

As usual: Shut up and take my money!😹
ADR:ed?
Nope, we don't have that kind of budget hahaha
@@DeityMicrophones Ok, the audio to me “feels” like it’s slightly out of sync and super “tight” but maybe that’s just me and a lot of post processing.
@@marcusloddby5432 yeah at one point I thought they were playing a clip of the previous release with voiceover
Please explain why you can't record and transmit at the same time in the US with the THEOS DLTX-US? You can record on a separate device and transmit on a separate device, but having both those features reside in the same box is illegal in the US?? Shouldn't all FCC wireless device restrictions deal with radio transmission only? How does the Rode Pro, DJI, Hollyland Lark etc. get away with transmitting and recording at the same time in US? Are they breaking the law?
Not FCC. Patents. Patent trolls.
To reuse a comment to somebody else.
Just saw a lovely comment about a mouse trap patent being vague.
@@imark7777777 Thanks for your explanation. I was thinking that it had to be something along those lines and not an FCC restriction. But it's strange that Rode, DJI, Hollyland etc. can record and transmit on their systems. I guess one being 2.4ghz and the other being UHF makes the difference to those holding the patents.
@@bentonpix I also know a few manufacturers have bowed down and licensed the patent. But there are some definite weird situations where you would think it applies and it doesn't.
What’s the system delay?

And Apple says they can't do replaceable batteries!
11:22 What happened to this young man to have The Fear running so intensely through his veins.
We had just run out of Welch's Fruit Snacks, and it was at that very moment, that he realized that the world was made up of limited resources. That we were depleting the earth, and that all things will come to an end..... or camera shy. IDK
@@DeityMicrophones Oh, yes. Fruit snacks makes perfect sense.
Edit: Can't wait for my pre-ordered kit!
I feel like after this is released, everyone else is gonna be forced to copy it.
Technically this is a copy of a few other higher-end transmitters. One of those companies owns a patent which is why this can't record and transmit. The older BPTRX can do all of this and backup record at the same time, it was just 2.4 band and 24 bit.
@@kyleranney that’s unfortunate, smh. I was hoping they’d have the patent extended to these new units. 32bit-float, timecode and simultaneous backup record/transmit is the perfect combo. Especially, for live streaming a wedding and having the audio available later to create your film. Wish they didn’t discontinue the old units.
@@ImaGenesisBaby they must not have had the patent conflict on the 2.4 units. I mean I would pay another grand for that feature. The next level up to a system that would is a Zaxcom, Wisycom or Sound Devices. Just those transmitters are $2k and you're looking at $6-10k fir the same system. It's a shame that these companies can own a patent on something like internal record and transmit. It must be only for UHF band, because I doubt the Rode Wireless Go and DJI mic can pay out for the license. IDK maybe they can since they are selling so many more units.
@@kyleranney exactly! I’d be willing to pay more for that. It’d be the perfect unit. If I can remember, I think Deity would’ve been the first to company in the US to reach an agreement with Zaxcom for the patent. So, Rode probably is doing something different, lending them to have cheaper devices.
@@kyleranney Oh man. Can't record and transmit at the same time? That's rather unfortunate.
sooooooo the PR2 is never coming out, ok cool
We literally showed off the latest version last week at the IBC Show in Amsterdam😅. Beta testing takes time. We don't want to use customers as beta testers. We'd rather ship out something that works on day one just right.
@@DeityMicrophones then don’t say you’re going to have them out by the end of summer. I was under the impression these were done with beta from the road show you did. I’m going to have to find alternatives now.
Too much cinematic slow talk b roll nonsense and taking forever for info so real question... can this record split channel so I'm able to add more than two lavs TO EACH CHANNEL. So if I add lavs, do I need to but another receiver in order to get 1 or two more tracks to record on?
@tonypmedia the D2RX can only receive signals from up to 2 transmitters
Love this system! Finally more pro options to choose from w/ awesome features. I made a video on the issues I was having with #Rode, #Sennheiser, & #DJI #wirelessmics
Should you be using a wifi mic or RF mic?

Where in the world can we buy Theos with 100mW of transmitting power, simultaneous recording and transmission, @deitymicrophones?
Same question. Although I'm beginning to think the 100mW version is US only so much for single product SKU.
