This is a very late post, but this recording was made by the late Howard Fogg, and not John Prophet who was responsible for most of the extant PRR recordings. John used a wire recorder, but Howard used a reel to reel machine. The recording was featured on his excellent "Power of the Past" album, and was one of the first he ever made.
Pentrex should get these archives, the sounds of the true PRR would sound much better than what they meshed together for their "steam across america" compilation.
The sound of the Standard Railroad of the World
yeah
The sound of probably the best steam locomotive ever made
@@ThunderTrain2930 Hell yea

How about for the Train Simulator K4s?
Awesome!! Would have been great to see.
Weird how on these wire recordings the train seems like it's coming at the recorder multiple times.
Great video i enjoyed keep making them
Anyone have the coordinates to where the original site was?
The bridge is at 40°06'21.5"N 74°02'59.8"W
Egg hunt down for a to to speak to you to me that I can do to help you to me that I can do
To me, the K4 was not a very good looking engine, and yet...somehow it was..🤔
I'd say that they looked purposeful, and that's a unique kind of beauty almost unique to heavy industry.
Not good looking? Do you see good?!
