Ohhh you are so smart to use the pallets! Using that strap as a hinge is so genius. I love this video so much, Ryan did an amazing job! Thank you so much for the detailed demonstration! We will be using this idea for our chicken coop, we have a ton of pallets and tin, we have built fences and foundations for sheds with the pallets. You two are awesome, thank you. have a really great Monday! 🤗❤
Thank you. Keep in mind prepping also means gathering items you may need one day and storing them. That way your version of self sustainability includes being able to build what you need with what you have if there is a SHTF situation. I’m glad you enjoyed. There are so many possibilities for a chicken coop out of pallet wood also…keep an eye out for the wooden shipping crates or longer pallets that equipment are shipped on. Most places burn them or dumpster them. So they are usually willing to let you take it. Only concern is be careful the pallets have not had contact with chemicals. Many people don’t think of that. Oil is one thing but certain chemicals can release fumes over time. Have a great day!
Nice job guys! This is very helpful to us newbies! Awesome idea on repurposing pallets. Gives us some great ideas! We built a compost bin from pallets. You guys just gave me inspiration to build something better for our rabbits! Looking forward to part 2! Thank you!! ♥️✌🏼Jamie
Aw thanks for the kind comments and feedback! Look these days we need to become more self sufficient overall…even in constructing stuff. I’m glad it inspired you! Mission accomplished. Can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks! Part 2 out Friday!
Very COOL idea for the nesting boxes. We also used any used/upcycled lumber that we can for cost and to prevent waste like you all do. Great Job Ryan and Lisa!!!!! We have build saw horses, raised beds, and even a compost bin. Of course, all of these were built with Heat Treated wood from pallets to prevent contamination. God Bless.
Thanks Tom. That’s why we are friends…like minds! It just makes good sense to build with what you have. Doing so increases our self sustainability. Have a great day my friend!
Subscribing to you has been such a good decision for me! I’ve enjoyed this video very much - Huge like for all your efforts and energy spent into making this one! What a fine job! 💚
You guys did a great job!! We love the idea of repurposing items and scrap wood and pallets are like gold these days! Thank you for sharing how you all did this, Lisa! Very helpful and informative! 😊💗
Thanks so much. A part of self sustainability is being able to construct what you need out of what you have. This is a good example of that. Thanks again for your kind comments and support!
This is great! We don't have turkeys so I have no idea of the dimensions, etc. I finally understand chickens!! It'll be fun to watch the install and see how the girls take to it! Cheers Lisa!
Nice job Lisa. You and Ryan did a great job. Free is my favorite price...welcome to the Darkside lol. As soon as the weather gets a little better we will be putting all the wood to use we salvage from the large crate we got.
Thanks Jason. Haha the dark side. That’s my public apology for giving him a hard time earlier in life! Lol. That’s a great idea to put it all in a crate….I need to find one of those!
@@YogiHollowFarm yeah the crate I disassembled here at work had 15 foot 3x5s and some 11 foot 5x5 and 2x4s it was what they shipped the cnc machine in.

Awesome video Lisa You and Ryan did an outstanding job on those nesting boxes I love how it turned out and pallet wood is great to work with I love it thanks for sharing 👍
Wow thanks so much for the kind comment my friend! We feel better knowing we are ready for when they do start to lay. That had been weighing on us a bit. We like to be ready for that stuff. The incubator arrived so can’t wait to try that out also. We really appreciate you and all the support you continue to give to us!
Just found you.n I'll tell about my chicken coup..i used old n left over fence post and 4x4. I found a piece of roofing in the garage that I put on back porch roof 3yrs ago (lol yes my dad taught me to keep everything) but I used the roofing on my coup n on the windy side..i used nails and screws leftover from projects and manage to make the coup the box n a run its lasted 2yrs so far..the last one lasted 5..im glad I found you.do with what you have..new sub here!!
WOW! First thank you for being here and welcome! Second thanks for telling me about your chicken coop! Use what you have! I love it! As you see that’s what we do. We tend to be cheap aka thrifty and smart! Why not repurpose and reuse vs wasting perfectly good materials? Another thing we like is showing that constructing projects out of these materials doesn’t mean it has to look awful either. Thanks again for being here! We are glad to have you!
They are very easy to raise. Only concern we had was that they like to take off and they often suffer predator attacks. They’re clumsy. They’re also inexpensive like raising chickens. Thanks very much!
Lisa this is incredible! What a great video and great use of scrap wood! I really like the metal pieces on the roof and I like the size of the nesting boxes and that you planned for additional turkeys. Have a great day!
Thank you so much! Ryan is the creator of the design. He has a knack for getting a picture of what he wants in his head and executing it. I’m the researcher on size, height, quantity, etc. Planning ahead makes life easier…why do it twice! Thanks again! Have a great day!
Haha! Guess we are all on the dark side now! When Ryan put that strap on the boxes I was like what in the heck is that gonna do? Is t it going to leak? Then he explained it and I was like that’s genius! Thanks so much!
That turned out great, gonna have some happy turkeys! Love the hinge idea and free wood. Everytime I see a pallet on the side of the road hubby says "no"! Before I even have a chance to say anything ahhahaha.
Thanks Rachelle! Yeah Ryan did great with that hinge idea. We stockpile stuff when we see it. Haha I bet! I used to do that to Ryan before we had a homestead. But I’m on the dark side now! Lol
I made Halloween carnival stands / games out of pallets for church 6 years ago and the church still uses them . Other than my time the pallets were free and some old paint, well I guess I paid for screws lol 😂 but was still cheep either way
Oh no! I have heard they do that. After researching we decided not to free range our turkeys as they tend to take off. Here they are an investment into the future so we want to keep them safe also. Thank you for watching!

Hey Lisa. This is a good craft out of those scraps. It's always good to improvise and reuse the materials.
Thank you! So important to be able to build out of what you have.
Good job, y'all! We love using what's on hand too. Are y'all enjoying having turkeys?
Thank you! Yes we are. They are so fun! Easy like chickens to care for. Incubator arrived and we are just waiting on eggs now! Woohoo
Love it! Great box for those turkeys. 😀
Thanks so much! Have a great day and stay warm!
So Smart to use pallet wood!!
Thank you! It just made good sense to us!
I love all you guys talking about your “farm store” lol. Reduce, reuse, recycle!!! :)
Haha we now have two locations! Lol the side of the garage and back by the turkeys. Exactly! So important to save the money and recycle

Reusing any materials is great. I think the cost of most everything has gone up. This is a great tutorial. Thanks
Thank you so much! Appreciate your kind comments!
I've built three chicken houses and runs with very little cost. Mostly refurbished materials. Two chicken houses were made from IBC totes.
That’s awesome! I love that you used IBC totes.
The nesting boxes look great.
Thank you so much!
I would love to raise turkeys. Great job on the nesting box.
Also, got my stickers today, thank you.

I love these kind of videos, using what ya got. Great "hinge" and I'll admit Kenny has brought me to the dark side of hoarding too LOL Awesome build!

Thanks so much you guys! I love that hinge but can’t take the credit…it’s all Ryan!
Great job on those nesting boxes. Great you could get some pallets to build with
Thanks Arielle! We appreciate you so much! Yeah we stockpile stuff when we find it…never know when you will need it.
This was awesome love using recycled items xoxo

Nice build, nothing wrong with free stuff! LOL
Agreed! Thanks so much!
Y'all had me at "Salvage" This was great!! I love seeing stuff like this and what people come up with.
Haha salvage. Dark side. Whatever you want to call it it is just plain smart. Let’s face it, we need thrifty, functional and there ya have it!
Reminds of my grandparents..make do and reuse perfect combination!!
It’s so true. Why buy or rather spend money if you have what you need to build it? Thanks a bunch Susan!
What an awesome idea!
Thank you!
Amazing guys! Good work 👍
Thanks so much! We are so happy you are here!
Nice thanks for sharing
Thanks so much! Appreciate you!
This is a very interesting project that you took on to make nesting boxes for your turkeys
Thanks Rebecca! Appreciate you watching!
i have that same wood stove i never thought about raising it up on cinder blocks
Very cool. The stove came with the house and was set up already. So I can’t take the credit for it. But I’m glad you got a cool idea out of watching!
Y'all did a great job re using material 👏
Thanks melody! Part two coming tomorrow!
Looks great going out to the barn to build 2 right now. Thank you for your help.
Awesome! We are so glad we could help. Feel free to email us pics of your project. We would love to see! Thank you for watching.
Very nice nesting boxes. You're a woman after my own heart. I have a thing for repurposing. Waste not want not.
Thank you. Yep agreed…not wasting it if we can use it (heck even if we can’t right now lol). Why buy? Crazy
Never seen this before. This is a great idea.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
Very useful thanks for sharing since I want to make one nest box for my turkeys!
Oh great! I’m so glad we could help. We were clueless when we first got our turkeys so we are still learning!
👍
Thank you!
Very cool what kind of turkeys do you have?
Thank you. We have 2 male and 2 female Bourbon Reds
@@YogiHollowFarm awesome! What do you do with the eggs?
We have not had any yet. However we purchased an incubator and plan to hatch them.
