@@nathanruiz8161 Considering the size of the shark and that it was completely intact I believe he said "Wholly shit" Wholly 🐄 bruh. plz don't confuse Wholly, Holey (sock) and Holy 👻.
At the tackle shop I work at I often talk to people about you John who are unaware of your videos. I usually refer to you as the "Fluke Whisperer" . Now I can call you the Shark Whisperer too! Great video. Glad you didn't lip him like a bass to get your hook back!
I don't remember a video where you are with an exaiment like this... You can catch fish everyday and be happy but some days... Just some... You have that feeling like the time you caught your first or biggest one ... And THAT IS WHY I LOVE FISHING! Mr. Skinner simply AMAZING video congrats!
And John becomes a shark fisherman exclusively....... Nice Sandbar John! Glad you didn't have to jump in and revive it. The little kid in you came out at the end when it was all over. That was the best part.
Awesome fish Mr. Skinner... thanks for sharing. I also appreciated how you used a rag on the live bunker so as not to remove any natural oil off the baitfish.
Knew it was a brown shark right away ! Haven't fished L.I. Sound in 35 years but fished it for 30 years , also was a bayman for years . Used to live line bunker while digging clams resulting in some pretty big Stripers from Oyster Bay Harbor ( north shore ). Have caught a few browns back then and watching it was so reminiscent of those good old days ! Thanks for the video ! Please be sure to show us your Sea Bass results !
I can’t explain to you how helpful that tip was about the circle hook. I’ve been using them for years in the outer banks mostly cause I’m just gonna throw fish back and I don’t wanna hurt them. Knowing to let them take the bait and reel after a few seconds instead of setting the hook makes a lot of sense. I feel like I’ve lost tons of fish trying to set the hook. Thanks.
Well done and a pleasure to watch as always. I might start netting my albies from the boat now instead of the old tail-grab. Good running into you this morning!
I caught one like 11 years ago off the East cut moriches inlet off the beach with a cheap Walmart 14ft and broke it in half still managed to fight the shark for almost 20 minutes arms were killing me, measured 6’5” and pulled him on the beach a fellow fisherman saw me struggling and help me unhook it and make a safe release, never got the guys name but if he sees this video thanks couldn’t had got him back safely without him. Awesome catch I was also live lining live shad for stripers.. awesome video wish I would have gotten mine on vid. Great catch.
Only thing I might add to that clean release is that with the engine down and in tick-over it can help 'plane' the fish up and keep water going over the gills. Nice fish sir.
John that is awesome! Great content! Nice surprise and great to see your enthusiasm releasing it... appreciate you noting the type of shark at the end as well...
never heard you say "holy shit"....great release, that was a beautiful fish, going home uninjured, nice work!
shityeah
Plz don't put holy b4 a cussword
@@nathanruiz8161 holy shit is justified.

Hole Lee Shit.
Great “work”, got worried with the hand wrapping the line. Amazing how the shark relaxed for the hook removal, good stuff!
MOST PEOPLE: Okay, he’s at the boat, do I gaff him or cut the line?
YOU: I wonder if I can get my hook?
Exactly my reaction. LOL.

So awesome you got him to the boat and the hook out by your self.
“ Oh no, no, no...” Beautiful catch and release, John! What a blast!👍
The shark video, I remember now LOL, yes - I love how you tire him out and keep the rig !! You got a gift Johnny 🦈

Liked the kayak comment too.
Well done John! Great job getting that hook out and not cutting the line up high. Thank you.
Great job getting the hook out John! Awesome catch.

The best is that you got the hook out most people would cut the line but it takes real balls to get the hook out great job!!!
John Skinner knows fishing best kept secrets. Tautog, scup, sea bass. This is fun
Super clean release on the shark, keep up the good work Mr. Skinner
Now that’s some fun👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 better than a bluefish 🇺🇸
Heck of a catch John! What a great vid. This is why circle hooks are great and do the job for a easy removal of the hook/release. Thanks again John!
Nice one John, probably one of the best one man catch and releases I've seen!
Awesome video. On the edge of my seat the entire time. Got a 275 lb thresher 3 miles off the beach last year doing the same thing.
What everyone else said, you're a freaking legend. Nice release John!
Wow I was on the edge of my seat! That was amazing.
Johnny Skinner using live bait ?!?! Wow !! Look at Johnny go !! Pay attention Florida , you got a pro !! I love every vid !!!

I just got into surf fishing 2 years ago. Out in belle harbor Rockaway. All because of your videos. Would love to spend a day learning from you.
That was fun, thanks John !!
“We’re going to need a bigger boat” hahah
Well done and a pleasure to watch as always. I might start netting my albies from the boat now instead of the old tail-grab. Good running into you this morning!
Good to see you too George. Good luck with the speedsters!
That was by far the most quietly intense fishing video I've ever seen!
What a great fight and catch...glad you were able to allow us to witness it.
All the gear held up nicely considering 👏

" I THINK WE NEED A BIGGER BOAT " !! Nice job John !!
Good job getting the hook out, exciting video.!
John you are a fishing god if there was any doubt before this video, this just confirmed it.
It’s the best when you can release a shark like that safely. Great vid John.
This is the Skinner Shark video we all needed today! (And hopefully deserved)
Nice sandbar shark, just like last year
Only thing I might add to that clean release is that with the engine down and in tick-over it can help 'plane' the fish up and keep water going over the gills. Nice fish sir.
Just flat out awesome. Way to go.
That was a great catch, Very nice release. Good job.
That was friggin awesome. Pretty work Mr. Skinner!
Wow! John good work with that.
That was awesome, thanks!
Well like forest gump says you never know what your gonna get. That's the beauty of fishing.
That was very exciting. Great release effort, John!
Great fish.....and he swims again!
Perfect release....
This shows you that the fish needs not get in the boat to be a trophy.
Great video. I was so afraid when you wrapped your hand around the line. Thank God you are so knowledgeable.
Awesome. It's catches like that, that keep me amped to get out there every chance I get.
This is why I'll only ever use the old Penn rods and reels in saltwater. They're indestructible.
No they aren't the new ones suck
Sorry you said old my bad 🤣
Wrapping the line on your hand make me nervous
Looked like he did it then immediately thought it was a bad idea and let it go
John this is amazing. Definitely happy you weren’t in your yak!!! Congratulations!
Wow amazing video and even more amazing was the catch and release getting the circle hook back was risky amazing job
