Meet Erin Harris, a trailblazing dairy farmer and processor from Creston, BC. In January 2023, Erin took the helm of her family's vertically integrated dairy and processing company, making history as one of the province's few solo female dairy owners. 🥛 Situated on 900 acres of organic, grass-based land, Erin milks 120 predominantly jersey cows with two Lely A4s. 🐮 She's dedicated to ensuring top-notch quality from pasture to processing, cultivating the majority of her forage and grain. Under the brand Kootenay Meadows, Erin transforms her farm's milk into a delectable range of artisanal cheeses and glass-bottled milk, which grace not only the Kootenays but also tables across western Canada. 🧀
Next up is Doug Groenendijk, whose farming roots run deep from his upbringing on his family's farm, Greendike Farm, in Chemainus. 🚜 After pursuing his studies and a stint in professional volleyball, Doug returned to his roots, eventually establishing his own Jersey farm on Vancouver Island - Legend Dairy. 🌱 Over the past year, Doug has embraced the challenges and triumphs of running his own farm, always striving for progress.
Last but not least, meet Josh Matzek from the fertile lands of Chilliwack, B.C. 🌱 With a diverse background in dairy farming, farm management, and equipment operation, Josh now excels as a Sales Rep with TerraLink Horticulture, bringing his passion for farming to a wider audience.
