  • If you know me, you know I am a fan of the comfort zone. But you also know that I love some adventure. So in this video, I want to explain why the comfort zone is not your enemy, why it has its important purpose, and why we shouldn't destroy the comfort zone!
    So let's embrace it, be comfortable but also use our energy to broaden it and find new ways of comfort.

    Yes. When you're neurodivergent especially, this is how it's done. Not by psychological bootstrapping - getting back in the saddle, pushing through the pain, snapping out of it, shaking it off - but by cultivating peace, by convalescing, so that more is possible. ☮

      Very true, as someone who's physically disabled it was constantly leaving my comfort zone that caused me so many damaging problems. What we should be teaching is how to extend our comfort zone to create new experiences, the happiest people are those that consider everywhere they go their comfort zone.

    Totally agree with you, comfort zone = peace of mind, less anxiety, fewer worries less suffering, thank you.

    So much this!!! I get so tired of hearing "get out of your comfort zone" rhetoric. If I'm living a functional, healthy and helpful life why do I need to "get out of my comfort zone" to "improve" my life?

    I agree with you Lia. This "you have to leave your comfort zone" become very toxic over last few years. People can actually harm themselves when pushing to leave comfort zone, especcially the ones pron to all kinds of phobias and anxieties.

    I don't usually comment (though I do watch all of your videos) but I really wanted to thank you for this video because I think it covered the subject of comfort zones in such a helpful way. I'm autistic and for me my comfort zone is what helps me stay sane. My environment which stays as much the same as possible and my routines etc help make a stressful, difficult to understand, often overwhelming world manageable for me. I also suffer with severe OCD so I have to push past my comfort zone and face things that bring me a lot of fear, in order to expand my life beyond the control of the OCD, which is super hard to do, so it is even more important for me that I have a comfort zone I can rely on to gain the energy and strength I need.
    I really liked the way you spoke about expanding the boundaries of a comfort zone on your own terms to experience new adventures. I thought it was so well put. Thank you once again for this video.

    Having a comfort zone at all is a huge privilege.

      Absolutely! And if we really feel like we have too much of it we could leave our comfort zone to help others have one 😊 like fighting racism, sexism, ableism, any other discrimination and building community...

    You have made a very good point here. It’s so annoying when you are surrounded by people constantly trying to push you out of your comfort zone. It’s up to individuals if they want to push their own comfort zone or not. 🙂

    I agree with you. I had a friend tell me that you can't "grow" unless you get out of your comfort zone. I totally disagree with that.

    I'm recovering from dysautonomia and long Covid. A great deal of my life right now is all about finding comfort to allow deep rest that leads to healing. My symptoms are evaporating one by one as I learn to find true, healing comfort.

    I like my comfort zone and I never want to leave it! It's nice to go out and have adventures in life but it's so important to have a comfort zone to return to where you can be your authentic self and rest and recharge. I like your comfort zone on your balcony where you were reading a book, surrounded by plants and birds singing in the background. You looked very comfortable. ♥

    I like this advice ☺️ I’m autistic and realising how far out of my comfort zone just ‘normal’ life puts me. Definitely feel I’d be stronger and more capable if I were IN my comfort zone more!

    I am so grateful for you speaking your mind and challenging societal dogmas. I swear to God sometimes it feels that people just hear the idea and run with it without applying any personal breaks, putting no thoughts to it, just repeating it and driving that into the masses.
    I think it’s very difficult nowadays to find your own voice because there is so much influence from everywhere. Used to be your immediate friends and family that would influence you and coworkers. Now it’s a whole wide world web that influence you.
    Sometimes it’s hard to even know which thoughts are yours!!
    Good work❤

    Maybe the comfort zone is listening to your intuition , that still small voice from within yourself that gives you the freedom to be true to yourself ?

    Great discussion, Lia. This year I have read 2 interesting books about getting out of your comfort zone and one about the benefits of living in your comfort zone. I think it can be stressful to spend to much time outside your comfort zone, although it can be fun and worthwhile to push the boundaries and try to expand your comfort zone from time to time. Something I really like doing is to get really comfortable and to read about people doing adventurous or interesting things that would be too far out of my comfort zone. In this way, I can get an idea of what it might bee like to do these things without leaving my own comfort zone.

    Yes completely agree :-). Mental health illnesd recovery for me needs more healing and safe nurturing rather than "tough love" and "brutal but necessary" approach. Had that process the first time but ended up exhausted and burnout on top of relapse. This time i am doing it at my pace. Thank you for this video :-)

    Auf so ein Video habe ich schon lange gewartet. Dieses permanente Selbstoptimieren und Produktivität und raus aus der Komfortzone, weil man sonst zum degenerierten Pflänzlein wird.... So thank you for raising up this topic and yes I do really appreciate this and enjoy it a lot. 🙂

    Have you made a video about what to do AFTER you're mostly done decluttering? It's sent me into depression to be honest.

    • @Elehvenolives
      @Elehvenolives 11 днів тому +4

      I'm not even fully done decluttering, but I have a wall where I can't finish the decluttering process.... it's definitely depressing.. I don't know what else to do ..
      You know what, you just gave me an idea... I'll go re organize my room and look through and try and push past that barrier.
      I kind of think traveling and packing minimally for travel might be fun?
      I pack a backpack for me and each of my kids for emergencies... and that involves minimal amount of things YET enough stuff for survival 🤷🏻‍♀️
      Soooo that one's fun and I like to do that quite a lot

    • @ecofriendlia
      @ecofriendlia  11 днів тому +11

      I had a similar experience with decluttering. It did leave me with nothing to do for a while and I missed the feeling of accomplishment after decluttering. I think it can be a normal part but I also think we need to learn that minimalism and decluttering are never the end goal. So I would say traveling and packing minimally might be a good idea and it also helps thinking about other stuff than decluttering. Also I would highly recommend thinking about all the other fun things (that might be even more fun, stress free and feel easier now) that you love to do, because decluttering is just opening up resources to then use for the things that we actually care about in life (but when we are deep into a decluttering journey it can become a hobby itself but it's never a sustainable one in the long run...) so good luck, I hope you are both feeling better soon and making progress towards your goals 😊
