If you watch closely, you will notice max trying to move right, then glides leftward.
Yup. Max does that alot, which was why FIA created a rule where driver can no longer move twice during defending. Simppy because it is dangerous.
Spotted that as well, Vettel was moving left to where there was a gap then when the gap disappeared he went right but it was too late.
If you watch more closely, you'll see that, that part of the track wasn't a straight, rather a corner was coming up, and Max was taking the natural racing line.
Remember, the overtake was already done, hence he doesn't have to accommodate for Vettel.
Vettel simply failed to brake for the corner that was coming up.
Tbf to him, he lost downforce a bit bcoz of following too close in the corners, hence cannot brake as efficiently, but he should've accounted for that. The responsibility to not crash was entirely his.
So, there's that.
When you hit the ass end of the car in front of you, it's really not hard to know who's at fault.
Esteban Ocon...........could learn A LOT from the very sportsmanlike behaviour of Sebastian Vettel.........

When we had lap after lap after lap of Verstappen and Leclerc fighting each other and as soon as Vettel wanted to try it he rear ended his opponent.

In both angles you can see his brakes locked up before contact
Vettel tried to go for a gap that was very slim to none and tried to slow down but didn't have enough downforce while on the brakes there. Verstappen placed himself in that defensive position a few times from 2018-2021 and it has always costed him.
of course verstappen got into trouble in doing that. he basically hinting to the rear driver that he is "going to outside" and then he reverse that and block the inside... if the rear driver is already committed there's not enough reaction time to back it off. Anyway Vettel weren't a saint too in the past, so i think that all "goes around" after all.

An incident is when you have nowhere to go or there’s basically no way to avoid crashing. Driving right up someone’s ass isnt a racing incident.

It was clear that he wanted to go to the inside, which Verstappen covered. He didn't have time or room to go back to the outside. Nobody's fault really.

@@marcpaola1371 2016 and 2018 were so so but he had good moments in those, just not the best car. 2019 he had pace but was inconsistent and mistake prone... 2020 was his worst year in F1 for sure... The fact that the car turned into an absolute turd and the team left him (almost literally, he in the Spanish GP had to be the one to come up with a strategy ffs) was a big reason. You don't go from going toe-to-toe with Leclerc in one season to outright demolished in the other...
At a time when Vettel was already declining. Too many mistakes…

All 20 different clips I've seen show this max person crashing every time.
Some of you are stupid and don't understand F1, or even racing in general for that matter.
1st: Of course Max was braking. They were in a braking zone. He was braking for the corner they were coming up on. He wasn't "brake checking" Vettel.
2nd: Max wasn't "weaving" or "swerving", he was preparing to take his line through the corner. There is a thing called a "line" that cars take through corners. They don't stay the same distance from the edge of the track through the entire corner. There is a thing called an "apex" that cars want to hit in order to either maximize their speed through the corner or get their car rotated after the corner sooner to so they can get back on the throttle sooner.
3rd: Max was taking a defensive line into the corner, which he is allowed to do. He isn't obligated to let Vettel pass him. No one is obligated to let anyone pass them, unless they made an illegal overtake or are being given a blue flag, neither of which apply to this situation. Some of you may say Max is required to leave Vettel space, but that isn't true because Vettel was never alongside him at any point in that breaking zone. You're only required to leave another driver space if they are significantly alongside. (Also, divebombing into a corner to get significantly alongside doesn't count. Not that Vettel did that, but it looked like he was preparing to.)
4th: Vettel was eyeing the gap on the inside, realized it was too small for his car to fit, then flicked his wheel to go to the outside but was carrying so much speed that he couldn't slow down or get to the outside in time. Vettel was carrying too much speed into that corner, and even if Max left him room on the inside he never would have been able to break in time for the corner and they would have came together anyway. If he went for the outside line he would have made the corner, though it would have been slower.
5th: If Max was in the wrong, Vettel wouldn't have went out of his way to apologize to him. Despite the whole situation ultimately being a racing inchident, Vettel knew he was partly to blame for the collision.
So many of you are either long time fans with hate boners for Max or new fans jumping on the Max hate bandwagon and talking out your ass about things you don't have even a basic understanding of.
Max does move towards the middle then back again to take the defensive line. It wasnt smart to show the gap it wasn't smart for vet to go for it. As soon as max moves back directly Infront vet loses down force on the brakes. It's either vettels fault or a racing incident nothing max does there is particularly unreasonable and I am really really not his fan.
