With the box on the floor and the handles up to the sides mark the angle on the bottom of the 2×4's and counter sink the nuts,wouldn't that help with the hight problem picking up the box? I'm going to try your idea by copying wheelbarrow handles and a hinge. Thanks for sharing ✌️

Just make sure you can fit it over your style of top cover, but should work good for you.
