I think some hotels deliberately have their windows locked so as to stop people from killing themselves.

@@Adam-mh7zv Really? Is this a universal rule for all currency? Or just the way it goes in Ireland (the only country in the EU with English as official language)? Because in my country we write the Euro sign after the number.
@@Alinor24 I believe in all English-speaking countries that's universal for all currencies. _Why_ that is, I've never understood.
@@Alinor24It is just in English speaking nations. In Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. the currency symbol comes before the number, so it would be €600, but, for example, I know in France it's the other way round, being written 600€

When I decided to stay for the last gig, I tried to see if the hotel I was in had a room available last minute. They said "sorry we don't, Foil Arms and Hog are in town so.."
I struggled to pick my jaw up off the floor and put the smile away haha

I would have been like "THE Foil, Arms and Hog?! Here? In Sydney? Oh my gosh I need to change all my plans!" then pull out an itinerary that says "see Foil Arms and Hog!" and cross it out and write "see Foil Arms and Hog!!!" and show it to them triumphantly.

Our funniest hotel experience was my dad trying to convince the woman at reception that we had booked a room for that night
Turns out my dad had managed to book a room on that date, but for the following year...
That's nothing. Berlin, New Year's Eve. Managed to book a reservation for a day before. And I had set a filter in my browser for 31.12-1.01. We arrived at 16:00 and no room for us.

You also forgot: "Why is the bill €875???" "Well, there's tax, city tax, occupancy tax, tourism improvement fee, convenience fee, and the fact that you ate a bag of crisps from the mini-bar."
This is absolutely brilliant. Loved every line, Foil's slow descend into madness while Hog keeps smiling, the renovation works 😂
If Foil is lucky, they will take his window out of the wall, that might fix the problem with the air conditioning.

I had this exact experience at a hotel in once. Arrived and they had given away the suite I booked 2 months in advance AND prepaid for in full. After I realized they were going to be pricks about it, I called a lawyer right in front of the manager, on speaker phone. Magically, I was offered a free upgrade to a larger suite sweet at no additional charge. Apparently them not having any rooms available was just a simple misunderstanding by the front desk clerk.
The pacing and writing for this episode where absolutely BRILLIANT... you conveyed so much in so little time
... it felt like watching a movie!!!
As someone who has stayed in hotels more than the average person, the accuracy of this made me laugh so much. Thank you!

The fact that this sketch increases my blood pressure and heart rate dramatically as it goes on shows just how perfectly it is executed.
I still get excited about staying in hotels. But that's probably because I don't go on holiday that much!

You missed "This is our newest non-smoking room" which translates to "We were throwing away the ashtrays, airing the place out out and spraying Febreze on the bed moments before you arrived."
Also, they must've gotten some great reviews before the construction started for it to average out to three stars now.
The running Taylor Swift concert joke killed me 😂 also thought Foil was going to complain about his window being removed, but I guess that’s not too common of an occurrence to include 😂. Well done as always 👏🏻👏🏻
In a hotel right now. And trying to get a reasonably priced hotel room for a Taylor Swift concert was just like this.

This is so accurate. Once me and my friends wanted to book a room with 3 beds, but when we got to the hotel they said only the "deluxe" room was still available. That room had mice. When we made a complaint they said "We have released the cat". It did nothing...

Oh my goodness, someone else feels this too! My family and I stayed in three different cities in Nevada at the end of June (3 different hotel chains) and encountered almost every single one of these problems!
First hotel didn’t have the correct rooms we booked. We too were shorted a bed! The shower was burning hot, the pool was closed (not listed on site). The breakfast was served from 6:30-9:00 but had nothing left at 8:30 and they didn’t restock.
Second hotel was great. We were spoiled. Only real issue was the fact that none of the doors shut unless you slammed them. Forcefully. The entire floor had to do this. It was jarring the first night for sure.
Third hotel smelled awful and the “air conditioning” in one room was a huge industrial fan that just blew out gusts of air sporadically. It was loud and didn’t cool the room. One elevator was rickety and near took off a fellow travelers arm. The elevator to the parking garage had an out of order sign on it, but only in the parking garage… not from the hotel side. We didn’t know that until we were going back to our rooms after parking and saw it taped outside the elevator!! In one of the rooms we booked the bathroom flooded during the night and maintenance scolded the occupants for not jiggling the toilet handle correctly. The tiles were loose in our bathroom (if you weren’t careful, you could kick it away). The wifi went down and when trying to plug in my phone charger, the entire outlet came loose! These were not cheap hotels, either 😂

This encapsulates all the wonderful experiences spanning a lifetime. One of my favorite: Downtown Manhattan in January. Usual hotel was booked. This one was ‘open’, under process of rehab maybe, room about 10 feet wide. Freezing partly because snow blew through the cracks in the windows. Enjoyed the part of ducking in and out of the scaffolding around the place. Thanks for a laugh re: joys of travel and the mindless robotic/indifferent employees you encounter.

That was great! I felt Foil's frustration in my bones! When he came down because of the air conditioner, I about died! I hate those hotel air conditioners! Great job frustrating Foil's character, Hog! Love that business center! 🤣

Brilliant! I don't know what I like more, the annoyingly innocent expression on Hog's face, obviously on the verge of corpsing - or the reminders of FAHn travels including certain types of two bed rooms... (Hi Miri, I know you agree!)

As an ex-roadie who spent her life in hotels I relate to this sketch so much! I hope the hotels in Montreal will treat you better than this. I will be there and I just can't wait to see your show. ❤

I have a hotel room booked for the Montreal show - not the easiest thing to do during festival season! Reviews for the hotel nearest the show mentioned red light district so we looked a little further away 😂 Cannot wait for the show!! 🎉
@@CoreySoulFan LOL our version of the "Red Light district" is not what it used to be or what we usually think when this term is used. It got that name in the 20's during the prohibition era and stayed that way till the 60's Ever since they worked a lot on sanatizing the district to a point where it's unrecognisable. It's now called the "quartier des spectacles" Where they hold most of our festivals (which is almost all year long at this point!!) The only thing left of that Red Light district are some red spot lights in front of some famous venues and sadly some homeless people who have nowhere else to go. Montreal is a really secure town and I hope you'll enjoy your time here! Have fun :)

I’ve definitely had some of these things happen in hotels I’ve stayed at! Foil’s hair matching his increasingly frazzled mood, the bed confusion, Taylir Swift being to blame for every, and Hog’s eternal bland calmness made this almost funny.
Foil should have strangled Hog with the cable of that old telephone. 😂 I would have understood.
I think I’ve encountered every one of those hotel irritations during my years on the road.
Loved this. Foil and Hog played their parts to perfection. Arms why were you dressed up? Do we get to see outakes? Am sure it's based on a lot of your touring experiences (although no windows got removed in this one).
You have to admire the hotel clerk…always cheerful, works 24/7, and types like a madman! Wow! 🎉

This is why I almost always stay in hostels now. I'd rather pay 30€ for a dorm bed than 600€ for a private room that's often no better than said dorm.

At first I thought it was a compilation of every Hotel sketch. Realised I haven't seen any of the segments. Realised it's not Monday. And happily realised it's a brand new one and not a video that I missed!
You forgot the evacuation drill when the personnel start banging at the doors and shouting that everyone must leave their room and gather in front of the hotel. You cannot use the elevator. Even if you are on the 15th floor. Usually happens during the winter. Every year. Always a joyful experience!
1:51 When he said this, I was so worried the video was going to end with the reveal that the clerk had been getting the guest's name wrong the whole time, and they did, in fact, still have his reservation. So he was going to get charged for both rooms, and/or they'd charge him a cancellation fee for not cancelling the original reservation [insert absurd amount of time] in advance.

Traveled about 20 weeks a year for work before I retired. Spot on. You can add, "You advertised a hot breakfast, but there's only cereal, fruit, yogurts, and bagels?" "Yes sir, there is a toaster for the bagels."
Love how you're real punctual with those new Thursday releases. My weekly injection of Irish comedy has just been met. But honestly I'm already shacking from withdrawal, I've watched almost all of your videos two or three times from the past ten years in the last couple of weeks and now I have to wait for a week for new ones... 😢

I don't know much about sleeping in hotels in Ireland recently but it's pretty much accurate about prices. I checked hotel prices in Dublin, just for curiosity, and the cheapest single room was aobut €300, a bed in dormitory €80. Normally it's expensive but much cheaper, over €100 for a single room. Still too expensive to travel around Ireland and it's really bad for tourism. If I can get a single room in Spain for €20 and I have to pay about €100 in Ireland, most of tourists will choose Spain or any other cheaper country.
Really? I just checked hotels for 14 and 15 august. Several hotels with double beds for around 100 Euros, often breakfast included. Also checked for right right now (though I wouldn’t complain about the prices if I didn’t book in advance during the summer holidays) and there were also some options for under 150 euros, again double beds.
@@sinaain I could mess up with searching options, e.g to pick 2 nights instead of 1, but I'm completely sure about prices. Even if I checked for 2 nights, it would be more expensive than now. I don't know why.
However, more than €100 per room is still a lot. I mean the city centre and around, not places far away. Ireland hasn't been an expensive tourist destination anyway but if a hotel in the city is about €100 per night, who will come here for a week or 2? Unless they're really rich or are invited by someone and sleep in his/her place. I remember times when normal price for a single room one night was about €40 and about €60 in Dublin.
A I wrote above. In south Europe you can find single rooms for €20 easily and weather is much better.
I have heard they "adjust" prices based on where you are booking from. Might try using a VPN and see if you get different quotes.
Went to Hawaii once and was woken up by guys in the hall ripping up the carpet at 7:00am. Needless to say we changed hotels. It was easier in 1973. Taylor Swift wasn't born yet. 😀🖖💕

This gave me very painful flashbacks to being a call center employee answering phones for a hotel booking site. Did you know your appointment isn't there? Did you know I can't help you? Did you know that all I can do is send a ticket to them that'll get a response ALLEGEDLY in 48 hours? Oh, you're waiting at the counter as we speak? HA! Well, sorry about that. I'm just a tool they pay almost nothing to answer phones and get cussed out by you in their place. Pleasure speaking with you and have a wonderful evening.
