i LOVE when a V8 sounds proper like the chevy 572 does, it "climbs" if its done right and then snarls like a beast at the end of each gear as if its climbing up them. My dream is to drop a naturally aspirated 572 chev motor into a ford festiva I recentley bought. the power to weight ratios IF DONE RIGHT would be more insane than anything anyone has ever seen. oh boy i have a lot of work too do :DD
I have a black 66 Impala w/396 & TH400 that I hope to rebuild someday to 500 hp. This car, however, is beyond my wildest dreams. 700 plus hp w/a 6-speed manual! This is one of the best car vids on You Tube!
A great memory, sitting in the back seat of i think a 1966 built 396 4/speed Impala at a red light, three passengers in car. A built 454 Fairlane w/auto, tubbed, slicks, stickers all over windows, lol pulls up next to us reving, light turns green, tire smoke from both cars, 1st, 2nd looking at the side of his car, 3rd, looking at his front grill, and 4th, looking out the back glass of the Impala at his car, laughing....the gear slamming sounded like a sledge hammer hitting a metal plate, nice...
Sweet Ride, just finished my 66'IMPALA SS ZZ502/600HP..5SPD,3:42 in Alloy Pearl Gray,Red gut,,i have Bucket sests, same set up,Hotchkis suspension Torq Thrust wheels,,,,,Cleans up at shows
@unrulycarrot I agree that Tom seemingly overestimated the actual weight of this car during his narration. This specific car, in stock form, weighed 3630 lbs. The upgraded motor and transmission combination is significantly heavier than the factory configuration, not to mention the upgraded brakes, EFI, fuel pressure system, suspension, large diameter stainless steel exhaust, and 20" rims and wide tires. Each tire and rim weighs between 75 to 80 lbs each, if not more. My guess, 4200 lbs.
@GMexpress My brother had an l88 1967 Comaro ss watched it pull the passenger side front 3 feet in the air the drivers side about 2 with frame connectors slappers and ladder bars @a 55 mph roll and those rock crushers wear great transmissions
@partyman6666 well, nelson has done a 800 CI V-Eight, don't know how far that project has advanced by now but you can check out a slight glimpse of that on nelsons' channel here on YT. it is to be seen in the clip in which tom nelson introduces a couple of their projects of the nelson super car division. cheers.
@URIZHEY If you think the 572's a big engine, search for videos of the Weineck AC Cobra... it's got a 780 CI/12.9 Liter V8. I believe that's the largest engine in any road car.... and it even has an 8000 RPM redline. If you like the sound of this Impala, you'll surely love the Weineck Cobra. :)
15k for daily driver series 572 bbc carb 15.5k for the hot rod series 572 bbc carb 19k for the pump gas warrior 572 bbc carb all these prices are directly from nelsons website.
@sidewaysntraffic Sorry, ment a thubs up on your comment, hit wrong button, A true mechanic will respect a customers car, not abuse it. That's owner preference, nice job on the car, i'd bet the owner is happy with it.
No problem with it as long as the engine is warmed up. Why should a rev limiter hurt the engine? It's there to preserve it, so you can perfectly run into it
I want THIS engine. It sounds so beautiful compared to shrillish sounding Ferrari F430 and similar. But it doesn't beat the best I've ever heard, Murcielago R-GT racecar, but the road going Murcie comes no where near That V8 is really good, sounds a thousand times better than Z06
I think he's comparing this car to tuner cars with turbos making the same kind of power, and in that case theres no comparison between a turbo and naturally aspirated. A 572 is a torque monster.
Some dumb comments.9to1 can make that horsepower. Its all how you build it.The v-10s may make more HP but at what RPM and they dont make that kind of torque.
Been coming to this three times a year ten years still never gets old
Your not alone....
I view this video each day for my SPEED fix. What a way to start a day and get the blood to flo!!!!!!

572 and a lap belt. I love it lol
The car has really nice lines and the mountain motor clearly can move the tank down the road. Neat combo.
Ditch the wheels for some Torq-Thrust Originals and this car will be perfect! Awesome car guys.

hey i appreciate the reply, didnt know you had to order one, haha, but I think I remember the seller saying it had a 32something I think.
Man, that car is the whip. Nothing sounds better than a healthy V8 with Flowmaster exhaust. Anyone know what year Impala this is?
66
About the coolest I've seen so far!
Oh my Lord! Is that car amazing or what? Yeah, it's amazing!
those have to be flowmaster mufflers because it sounds so good, probably original 40 series or super 40s
@GMexpress My brother had an l88 1967 Comaro ss watched it pull the passenger side front 3 feet in the air the drivers side about 2 with frame connectors slappers and ladder bars @a 55 mph roll and those rock crushers wear great transmissions
That impala must have a really touchy clutch on it.

@URIZHEY

Now thats a car I would love too own :D
Now thats a beautiful car!
I love this video because I have a 66 impala but what i really want is a 69 camaro z28.
@partyman6666 Agreed. That Weineck 780 CID V8 is a beast. I think it is 1100hp NA. Nelson should make a twin turbo version of that!
and they did
This guy is funny! "This particular engine is a super strong engine"
Bad ass car though. Sounds awesome
are the engines for sale to the people ? or are they only available to racing teams ?
the best car of the world!

She's a 66, the wrap around tail lights give it away, plus i own one :)
What gears do you guys have in it. Awesome car by the way
Hi Suafa and Kevin hope you enjoy the car.
I want THIS engine. It sounds so beautiful compared to shrillish sounding Ferrari F430 and similar.

thats a sick car!
nvm, didn't realize it was only 9:1 compression hahah. but these guys still know their shit
HO-LEEE CRAP. THAT THING IS ABSOLUTLY AMAZING!!!!

You're absolutely right. I've seen 9:1 SB2 small blocks make 750 with 130 less cubic inches.
that thing sounds so mean!!! I want it!
Damn that car sounds so good! Anybody know what year it is?
3:17 Breaks the tires loose wonderfully
Are you sure it is only 750. Seems like more with that cam
gotta love a 572
You don't hold it into gear very long?? Is it just made that way?
Oldie but goodie
Twist the chassy from so much torque?
