Whitney was 29 years old when she recorded the original of this in a major recording studio, with all the bells and whistles of modern recording technology, and probably done in several takes. Angelina was 12, in a small recording studio or a room in her home, with only her, the microphone and the backing track…..and done in one take. Astounding!
EXACTLY!! There is no denying Whitney was a good singer, but I've had Whitney lovers (or Angelina haters) tell me Whitney's version was so much better. I challenge them to show me a LIVE Whitney performance that is better than this, and so far, none have taken me up.
FWIW, there are several points at which one can tell this was not a single take. But, as you mentioned, neither was Whitney's original…

And impeccable performance by Angelina who sang with great emotion and totally did the song justice. There are just no limits to Angelinas rare capabilities and she totally sounded like a professional even at that young age. Thank you for another great reaction

Yes, her voice continues to mature from this song when she was almost 13 & now that she is 15. The scary thing is female singers voices don't fully develop until their mid 20's, so Angelina has another decade to "mature." That should scare the hell out of every superstar vocalist on the planet!
There are a lot of very talented people in this world (thank goodness!) but not very many super talented. AJA is super super talented.
Wonderful reaction, Nathan, when I see this little girl challenge herself to make her tribute, through a song sung by a superlative singer like Whitney, she steals my soul. She chose a song that isn't easy even for an adult singer with an extended vocal range and incredible belts, yet this 12-year-old little girl, she alone with her mike, no autotune and no interruptions, gets something extraordinarily beautiful and well done, even with the limitations due to age and the voice that has not yet fully evolved. I highly doubt that at the same age as her, Whitney herself would have been able to sing this song this way. 😁❤️
She covered over 80 famous Artists and is able to put her own layers on the songs in a beautiful different ways to interpret the meaning of the songs in a new way.
She sang a lot of tributes to artist like Freddy mercury, avicii, Aretha Franklin and Whitney.
She started singing at 1 1/2y with a WJ song ☺️
She seems very happy with herself singing this song, I'm very happy with herself too.

" I Have Nothing " is a song recorded by American singer Whitney Houston, released as the third single from The Bodyguard: Original Soundtrack Album (1992) on February 20, 1993, by Arista Records. The song was written by David Foster and Linda Thompson, and produced by Foster..
Whitney Huston made it famous and held the title of the ultimate singer of it until along came a little humble 12 year old barefoot girl from Norway performing it in the same key as Whitney, but it was not her song, only written for her to sing in the movie.
Whitney made it her own with awesome voice but now Angelina has now made it her own at just a mere 12 years of age, compared to Whitney Huston a grown woman and a seasoned awesome professional singer almost three times the age of Angelina.
Wow! Wow! Wow! is all one can say about Angelina , she is indescribable !!
Angelina only needs three things: a music track, a mike, and any song you want. She’ll take it from there. Angelina is the best.

The thought that Angelina's voice has about 10 more years to develop is beyond comprehension. Blessed with the talent and instincts to deliver a song, IMO, far better than any other vocalist added to the most beautiful voice I have ever heard equals the potential to be the greatest of all time.
the song she sang when she was 1and half was a Whitney Houston song so I am not surprised at a tribute a few months after this she was working on this song with David Foster for a benefit concert, he wrote the song and was Whitney's producer for it and the rest of her songs in the movie The Bodyguard

I could be wrong and I will be corrected if so.
But I know for sure that at the age of 18 months old this was the song that she set up and started singing with her and a mic as big as her.
I have always said and will continue to say is Angelina Jordon Astar will go down as the greatest singer of the 21 century.

Don't know the chronology, but there's social media of Angelina rehearsing with David Foster for a benefit concert (I think in Los Angeles). While this video was released before the concert, don't know when they started working together. David Foster, Quincy Jones, Avicii, Alan Walker, Norah Jones, John Legend...just a few of the music giants she has worked with. And still stayed true to herself.

What a cover!! Great job AJ, I don't particularly like this song but it is kind of a test for all great female voices to sing it. She passed the test with flying colors.
When this was first released some said she was provided the backing track by David Foster. Don't know if this is true, but her social media does confirm that she had met with David, and performed for/with him.
David Foster wrote it, Whitney recorded it at age 29? at least a dozen years into her adult career. HER PRIME. NOTE: THERE IS a photo of Angelina Jordan Astar with David Foster floating out there in videos that I have seen. I do not remember if it was at this 12/13 yr old range or younger. Maybe he had her set up to do this song...maybe not here in this performance, but maybe prior, for him to test her abilities, as THIS is a MOUNTAIN of a song for anyone to tackle, and yes, she does tackle and Top-Peak it out here
Didn't Angelina attempt to sing "I Will Always Love You" literally in the crib with a kareoke mic at the age of 1 1/2? Imagine being the parent that handed the mic to her. THAT's why the Whitney Tribute.
She's attending the Angelina Jordan Academy of Music by studying the jazz masters and the other greats which made music what it is. She has performed every genre, excepting rap and opera. Not looking forward to rap, but opera may be amazing.

I just recently watched a mash-up between her and Whitney. As I was watching I was wondering how they were able to match it up so perfectly. Then you mentioned that Angelina was using the original track, so now the mash-up makes more sense. If I can find it, I’ll come back and post the link. One of my favorites of Angelina’s!

the ONLY error, if you want to call it one, is at 5:48 of your video where she says STAY IN....... and goes on... She seems to start the word STAY too high... rather than build up as in other similar verses. STAY is normally a lower note than IN... which is normally lower to the following MY...

That is pop song... For powerful vocal organs. I respect your opinion but I don't share it. I'm a super hyper almost exagerating fan of Angie. But David Foster is not for her. Borderline yelling... Angie can sing pop songs, but not these. We can compare with a girlie, at the time 15 yo, a Pinay, First time in America invited by Oprah, singing that song. After that, David Foster took her with him and she became closer of his shows. With Foster, she lost her gesticulating attitude. But she had the vocal organ and the personnality to sing Foster. Sorry, it's not the case with Angie. Charice here below...
