I'm not gonna lie, I agree with the potato thing, it's the Moon thing I don't get. I THINK that Chell actually shot a portal to the moon, was about to die in the infinite cold depths of space, GLaDOS pulled her back, leaving Wheatly to die, and then Chell was knocked unconscious.
There's audio of Cave while dying of his illness telling scientists to force Caroline into the AI... that 100% confirms Glado's identity and you completely missed that.
Everyone knows he’s alive during portal 1. He literally goes back in after the end of Portal 1 to save chell. If you accidentally meant 2 then that makes sense.
You mean portal 2 then yeah if one of his little hideout rooms you can hear supposedly his ghost if also a theory that he dies from the turret gunshot wound
When I first heard the turret talk about Prometheus' myth I was actually kind of convinced it spoke about Caroline/GlaDOS. Prometheus was indeed punished for his sins by being tied to Caucasus and his internals being eternally pecked by crows (until Hercules came by). However there are two translations of Prometheus. The one is of Theogony, in which Prometheus is portrayed as selfish and wanting to surpass Zeus by giving humans fire and knowledge. But in Protagoras' version, Prometheus is wrongly punished since all he did was to help humankind survive and did it out of pure concern. I think both of these versions could fit with the whole Caroline-Cave story if more were brought up in the surface (Depending on their relationship and if indeed Chell is "humankind")

@@terrabite7685 Lel, so aggressive. You and your generic fan fiction. Somebody here needs to learn the term theory, with the word "Dunce" slapped on their forehead.
Can't blame Caroline for killing everyone. She was forced into an AI state because Cave wanted her to be the next leader of "future science". She screamed and cried, no one listened. They just put her in the chair and continued their work because of Cave's demands, regardless of Caroline's quarrels and screams. No one cared for her to get her out, so why should she care about them and what they did to her? I do still feel bad she couldn't remember who she was, not remembering anything about her past life with Cave and Chell, the traumatic stress put on her, and even getting rid of her own daughter. Personally, she could've kept Chell, no more testing for her, reconnect with her, etc. Spoiler alert: U know I'd love to if I was GLaDOS. But then, that may complicate things with all the other people in that vault you find in multiplayer and Chell may intervene. Even so, GLaDOS may reuse Chell again without thinking or because of such a strong feeling to keep testing until all "subjects" are dead.
Couple of things missed from this video. 1: The girl in the corner of the portrait of Cave and Caroline. - Can be seen if you tyrn the contrast up. 2: The suggestion that the "weighted" companion cubes contain the bodies/remains of the fallen test subjects or Neurotoxin casualties. - Shown by three facts. a. "Weighted" Companion cube. b. It is a "Companion". c. The faces in the pictures replaced with cubes could suggest that they are now cubes! Either put there by Ratman or by Glados.
also that he said cave Johnson experimented on his assistant even though he was planning to have his brain be in the machine glados was in but he died by moon rock poisoning before being able to do so
That stupid "body in the cubes" theory can be easily disproven by one fact - the Emancipation Grilles don't emancipate people, so bringing a cube through one would cause the body to fall out.
Actually its the same four turrets that sing to you at the end of the game, the ones that aim at you then sing. Plus the four are all in the same position as when they were practicing.
There’s another secret I know of: In the music track, “Ghost of Rattman” (I believe this is the name, but it may be something different), there is an overlay of a man yelling what seems like nonsense; however, the noise is actually a garbled message, which, until a number of years after the release of Portal 2, could not be decoded. We now have the audio decoded to an extent where we are at least somewhat certain of most of it. It’s pretty obvious by the name that it is Doug Rattman speaking, so it can be assumed by the words “Uncle Johnson” that he is Cave Johnson’s nephew (he, of course, could be related to another person with the last name Johnson, but he also refers to him as someone superior, and we know that if he worked at Aperture Science, Cave was his boss, so it seems pretty unlikely). If Chell is Cave’s daughter, and Doug is his nephew, that would mean Chell and Doug are cousins. So the family tree is complete!
It's never confirmed by Valve that Cave and Caroline were, in fact, together in that sense - let alone that Chell is their daughter (even though that is admittedly a favorite fan theory of mine). And because "Uncle Johnson" is based off of fan translations, and not actually confirmed by Valve to be part of what Doug Rattmann was, in fact, saying -- that is also not canon. Still interesting, though.
Actually, the singing turrets aren't communicating with each other through music, they're actually just practicing their song for the end of the game. EDIT: I don't want to be that kind of person, but can we get to 1000 likes? If so, I will shoutout my twitch channel!
When mom sprays bug spray in your room while you are sleeping Mom: its your old friend deadly neurotoxin, if i were you i would take a deep breath... and hold it
Nat Mol It's the same 4 turrets as the start of the opera The one on the right doesn't actually sing but moves it's panels to make noises just like in the opera
You forgot to mention Testchamber 16 of Portal: Still Alive, where “help” is written in a blood red all over the walls, and floors, and there are X s in that same color on the ceiling.
The turrets aren’t creepy. They were practicing singing, not ominously speaking through song. Edit: Omg how did a comment I did over two years ago get 200+ likes-
What I think was far more sinister is the alternate Wheatley story, in the boss fight, at some point Wheatley says 'Do you think you're the first one? I've done this a dozen of times already' or something along the lines of that.
EktoHunter really? I’ve gone through the game a couple times and I’ve never come across this. Do you think you can tell me how to trigger that voice line?
@@JacoTheSecond it's one of the last lines in the boss fight, I just remember hearing it at some point. It was in the German version, it might have been different in English.
Actually, there is a pretty good chance that doug is actually in the labs still, beacuse if you go to his den in GLaDOS's test chamber 17 in portal 2, you can go into the room with all the cups, stand above the fan, and hear him ranting about chell, Cave Johnson, and the Borealis.
My brother showed me it. We played two player on Portal 2 and the fact that it was subtly pitting us against each other while also forcing us to work together was genius. I just had to play the main story.
Right, the AI transfer wasn't ready by the time Cave was dying, so he has the audio giving his people instructions to put Caroline in the AI even if she doesn't want to (in a misguided attempt to make Caroline immortal)
Not only that, Chell is in no way Cave and Caroline's daughter seeing as GLADoS was created after Cave's death and weeks before bring your daughter to work day so Chell couldn't have possibly used a component from daddy's work provided by cave because he was dead by that point PS i'm aware of adoptions

Le_ Alien yeah I agree, I don’t think this guys knows what he’s talking about. Prometheus us portrayed as a hero in the story. He stole fire to give to man because the Gods refused and then he got punished for his good deed. Not necessarily a sin, more a disobedience of an unrighteous hierarchy.
13:12 no, the most common theory is that Chell is son of Ratman, and thats the reason he is helping HER recover, and re-directs all power to her long-term relaxation chamber, to make her survive
Hate to be a buzz kill man, but no. Chell being the daughter of Cave and Caroline is the most popular theory. Doug comes into it and is commonly believed to be the adopted father to her once Cave died because of moon rock poisoning and Caroline was forced to become GLaDOS. That's why he tries to save Chell, at least, that's what is most commonly seen around.
@@alishagee4044 ooh now that just clears a whole new line for me,i mean i always knew cave johnson and caroline a.k.a Glados were chell's parents despite what many skeptics say but Doug being the adoptive father is just plain new to me and somewhat reasonable since he seems to care for her nice spotting 😁
@@natinekochan6489 Yeah, there is no obvious confirmation but it does seem to fit pretty well with what we do know. I gotta imagine it would be hard for Doug though, knowing about what happened to her parents and knowing he couldn't say a word to her about it.

@@natinekochan6489 We all know Valve can't count to three and maybe they left it up to creative interpretation intentionally or maybe they're afraid (of the number 3) of the backlash hardcore fans might give them if their story doesn't live up to their expectations.
Great video, I actually recently started watching portal videos again XD lol I love how you go into full detail with everyone and have full theory’s and everything, great job.
You forgot that.. on final , someone says "Caroline deleted" consequence that the portal 2 GLaDOS is another person , while idk how GLaDOS was Caroline and now its a diffrent woman
GLaDOS thanks Chell for helping her find where Caroline lives inside her AI then she deletes it, but I don't think she really did delete Caroline, I think she did that to taunt Chell, as she has done many many times before, because if she deleted Caroline, she deleted the system that allows her AI to function and make decisions, so she wouldn't have been able to continue talking, she'd basically become an Alexa
@@terrabite7685 She didn't do it to taunt her, she did it to get her to leave. Caroline wanted Chell to escape, GlaDOS just made sure she had no reason to return. While you, as the player, want to escape, you do it by solving the puzzles and you like doing that. They sort of break the fourth wall here by stating that Chell wants to do these tests. The whole song at the end of Portal 2 is meant to push Chell away and remove any incentives to return. If Caroline truly was Chell's mother, then deleting her would mean that her mother is gone and that she has nothing left at Aperture. Or at least, this is how I interpreted it.
13:58 Chell wasnt put in the chamber as a child, she was working there as a test subject in Portal 1, and Portal 2 is AFTER Portal 1. also you dont grow in relaxation chamber, because if that was the case, she would've been long dead, because she was there for few thousand years. And Portal 1 test chamber was short-term chamber, so that means she got in this capsule few days before, because that was common experiment routine.
@Bunbunfam A) this might just be another kid (not like there is only 1 Chell in the world) B) she might be a kid of one of Aperture workers but that doesnt mean she was put in the chamber the day of bringing your daughter to work day. Option A is more probable, because as far as we know Chell was abandoned as a child
@Bunbunfam what does long falling boots have to do with her being a kid? you can clearly see she isnt a kid in this video lmao she just joined Aperture Science as an employee your theory literally doesnt make any sense to me
What you forgot about the last theory about chell being caroline and caves daughter: the pre-credits song is latin, and when translated its obvious its glados, refering to her as her child asking her to walk away from science.
THE WORDS ARe: in portal, at one point glados says "how about i call ur mother" and she calls chells mother and glados said: "oops, she didnt aswere". AND THAT's BECAUSE GLADOS DIDN't ANSWERE BECAUSE SHE's CHELL's MOTHER!
Here's some dark secrets you don't know about (that is also more relevant than everything in this video repeating the same things we've already heard a hundred times before): Out of all the puzzle creators on the Portal 2 workshop, I hold the world record for designing the most maps (490+ puzzles). Valve made a promise to the entire Portal 2 community that they would officially recognize good puzzle creators to make sure their content gets the recognition is deserves, but now it's 7 years later and Valve still hasn't done anything to make good on that promise (they basically lied). Less than 1% of the maps posted on the Portal 2 workshop are actually good puzzles, and NONE of these good maps are popular, their rightful position instead being hogged by garbage front page fodder maps (and again, Valve doesn't care to do anything to fix it).
:( what a shame... Just curious, does anyone tried to contact Valve employees about that? Twitter, mails, anything? Yes, they're company, but still they're just persons and maybe they just forgot...
The bring your daughter to work day ‘chef’ Easter egg only proves she was someone’s daughter, not that she was related to Caroline and Cave Johnson. I’m pretty sure Chell is a different ethnicity. It might make things creepier but also makes the universe smaller and weirdly coincidental.
3:49 This Level is the level that got me to quit the game. She told me the floor ahead was poisonous and if I quit I'd get a piece of cake, so I went to ask my dad and he told me that she was lying to make me stop. I honestly thought I would get cake; and I'm still upset she got me to quit and that was about 10 years ago now.
To be fair, Chell might as well be the child of any random scientists/worker, nothing really implies that Caroline or Cave Johnson could be her parents.
Hey Cave Johnson wanted HIS conscience in an AI that scientists were working on but he said, and I quote, “If I die before the scientists are finished, put Caroline’s conscience in the computer” so there’s some info for you
well he did say that they’d have to make her become glados even if she didn’t want to, and there were some unused lines of caroline saying “i don’t want this” repeatedly, and there was meant to be audio of screaming while she was being put in but it was deemed to be too horrific and sounding slightly like rape. i’d call that betrayal
The love affair is PURELY speculation. I've met Ellen McLain in person at a con, and the question regarding this theory came up. She said that "it wasn't something the writers were thinking about"
I honestly think it’s more likely that Chell would have been Doug’s daughter. Why would the bigwig’s daughter take part in a science fair with the children of her dad’s employees? Seeing how Cave acts in every recording, I think it’s safe to say any child of his would have been less than kind towards the idea of socializing with anyone below her in the pecking order. Plus, if Chell were Caroline’s daughter, wouldn’t Glados have had some kind of reaction to Chell or at least her name? Or Chell some reaction to seeing her mother’s picture or hearing her voice both in recordings and through Glados herself? I’m probably missing a lot of info, but just based on what I know of the Portal games and the evidence in the video, I think Chell is more likely Doug’s daughter than Cave Johnson’s.

The turrets aren’t communicating they’re practicing for their song at the end
While Cave Johnson and Caroline were in thier human body's they conceived a child that they named Chell. After Cave was poisoned by moon rock dust he knew that he was going to be unable to raise his daughter; so he made a deal with the GMAN to raise his daughter for him. In exchange Cave Johnson would finish the Borealis project, and finalize the GLADOS system so humanity can backup all human intelligence. During Aperture's bring your daughter to work day; the Gman decided to bring Chell to visit her biological parents knowing that thier was to be "unforseen consequences". During this day Caroline was to be backed up in the GLADOS system. GLADOS immediately became self aware. GLADOS was so sad, and angry that her daughter had to see her become a machine that she decided to kill the scientist. In retaliation some of the scientist corrupted GLADOS memory to force GLADOS to calm down. While this is happening the GMAN decides to place Chell into aperture's sleep chamber, and manipulates the system into believing that Chell is a test subject in order for the system to accept her into sleep chamber. The GMAN then specifically programs Chell's profile so that she is not to be tested as she is just a mere child. While Chell is in her sleep state she grows into an adult. You can tell that she was well taken care of because her nutrition and the fact that she has clothes that properly fit her. When Chell became a proper age; the GMAN convinces the schizophrenic "ratman" to awaken Chell by convincing him that a near by companion cube was able to communicate. Even tho the companion cubes are the indestructible coffins of former aperture workers, and test subjects. The GMAN knowing of the alien attacks starting from the black mesa incident; believes that through testing Chell in aperture She would then be prepared for the world above her. The schizophrenic "ratman" agrees to do so and places Chell at the top of the test subject list. "Ratman" notices that Chell's last name was hidden, and her original file states that she was not to test. When Chell wakes up she knows that she is in aperture. She immediately remembers GLADOS voice; and in defiance she decides to give her mother the silent treatment.
The events of portal, and portal 2 then play out.

Spoiler alert:
U know I'd love to if I was GLaDOS. But then, that may complicate things with all the other people in that vault you find in multiplayer and Chell may intervene. Even so, GLaDOS may reuse Chell again without thinking or because of such a strong feeling to keep testing until all "subjects" are dead.
The story is already sad but having Chell be their daughter is somehow even sadder.
Either put there by Ratman or by Glados.
also that he said cave Johnson experimented on his assistant
even though he was planning to have his brain be in the machine glados was in but he died by moon rock poisoning
before being able to do so
Also GLaDOS and Wheatley both mention Chell being adopted. Explain??
numpty2 Yeah, it’s a figure from the greek mitology, i just forgot who she is
That stupid "body in the cubes" theory can be easily disproven by one fact - the Emancipation Grilles don't emancipate people, so bringing a cube through one would cause the body to fall out.

Actually its the same four turrets that sing to you at the end of the game, the ones that aim at you then sing. Plus the four are all in the same position as when they were practicing.
There’s another secret I know of:
In the music track, “Ghost of Rattman” (I believe this is the name, but it may be something different), there is an overlay of a man yelling what seems like nonsense; however, the noise is actually a garbled message, which, until a number of years after the release of Portal 2, could not be decoded.
Entity_303 bruh
It's never confirmed by Valve that Cave and Caroline were, in fact, together in that sense - let alone that Chell is their daughter (even though that is admittedly a favorite fan theory of mine).
And because "Uncle Johnson" is based off of fan translations, and not actually confirmed by Valve to be part of what Doug Rattmann was, in fact, saying -- that is also not canon.
Still interesting, though.

Actually Cave Johnson died before Caroline became Glados
Right, the AI transfer wasn't ready by the time Cave was dying, so he has the audio giving his people instructions to put Caroline in the AI even if she doesn't want to (in a misguided attempt to make Caroline immortal)
And funnily enough, we know exactly why he died.
Not only that, Chell is in no way Cave and Caroline's daughter seeing as GLADoS was created after Cave's death and weeks before bring your daughter to work day so Chell couldn't have possibly used a component from daddy's work provided by cave because he was dead by that point

A) this might just be another kid (not like there is only 1 Chell in the world)
B) she might be a kid of one of Aperture workers

Out of all the puzzle creators on the Portal 2 workshop, I hold the world record for designing the most maps (490+ puzzles).
