Today I'm sharing some honest thoughts on Nisi's newest Athena Primes! I picked up this kit earlier this month, and CANNOT BELIEVE how much I love shooting on these! I also got a bit extra and tried the moment anamorphic adaptor on them...and boy howdy, these things SLAP together!!
From the Bokeh, to the detail, these things KILL IT in multiple scenarios.
I opted for the PL kit for the ability to rent it out and use these lenses on multiple bodies as my career progresses.
Let me know if you have any questions down below!
Special thanks to @remystyrk for collaborating on a horror film together! Check out his page to see what he cooked up :) Amazing cinematographer and editor in his own right!!
Thank you Dan, Luna, Aaron, Ding-Dong (the feral cat) and all my wonderful clients for letting me use these lenses on you this last month!
@NiSiOpticsUSA
@sonycine
Awesome work! Excited to use them.
Just started looking into these. Thanks for creating this!
I just ordered a set, and by the way, your footage looks fantastic. I would love to hear your thoughts on the moment adapter with these lenses.
Amazing review! Thank you!!
I was wondering what was the viewfinder you used?
gorgeous frames!
Thank you!
Cant wait to work with these lenses...there are a 18mm and 105mm coming in the near future....
In comparison to Gm Athena is preferred.. curious about your y care to elaborate a bit :) Nice vid 👍
🔥🔥🔥
Ok, I recently purchased the Nisi lenses, and I took them to Straton camera, we put them on a projector, and they are saying the 35mm is as sharp as an Arri master prime and probably the sharpest lens they have ever seen. Now, Straton Camera is the largest rental house in the Midwest. Just give you some context about who they are and have been around for 40 years.
Great review! I was curious if there was and vignetting on the 14mm when using the PL to E Octopus adapter? Also, I take it the rear element clears on that adapter?
works perfectly fine! Minor vignetting but nothing super duper noticeable.
Honestly love the way the 14mm looks compared to 16-35/batis 18mm and I felt the batis had a lot of vignetting.
The Athena + Moment Anamorphic combo is probably the closest you can get to the Arri Master Anamorphics without having to sacrifice your first born as a down deposit

@@CineDailies I try ;) huge fan btw! Love your work mate 🙏🏽
Super! What is the anamorphic adapter? I can't find it
Can u use this lens with BMPCC G2 by using a Pl adaptar since BMPC comes with EF mount thx
Beautiful review! was there a specific reason with choose the PL-Mount instead of getting the Lens with an E mount??
The owner of northwest camera co suggested it for a number of reasons!
- e mount isn't as widely rented for (yet)
- future proofing (can upgrade to a different camera body like RED/ARRI and not lose any lens compatability
- PL mounting system is rock solid and locks in place. Feels more secure and looks more bad ass lol
What loop do you use on the FX6 LCD?
THX
in terms of filters did you have any mist or is that the look straight out of lens
Funny you mention the lack of autofocus, I'm starting to become tired of autofocus. And would love to go back to manual focus due to the autofocus lives its own life at this point for me. But lenses with a large focus throw is the only way for me to go back. Sounds like I have to save for some new glass
I've arranged for a special deal on these lenses with Nisi!! 20 sets avail at a BIG percentage off!!!
That's rad man! Have you heard any news about their other lenses coming to the athena line?
Are you using a PL to E mount adaptor with ND drop in filters?
Hey! I'm using DZO's PL to E Octopus adaptor, and the build in VND of the fx6. On the fx3 i pair the tilta mirage VND as needed!
Have you used the DJI LiDAR? It’s autofocus in a box lol you won’t look back,
Hey, what EVF is that!
I have this pretty sweet sub $30 plastic viewfinder cover i use on the fx3/fx6. Fits most little screens perfectly, but can be a bit janky to work with since it attatches via two plastic straps.
search "Kamerar CVF-1 Collapsible LCD Viewfinder 3X Magnifier for 3.0" and 3.2" and you will find it no problem!
not sure if this is an ad or unpaid review? feels like an ad especially at the end..
