I opened my package today - and was quite surprised at the mug you made for me - it was such a lovely black.... thank you so much - it is a special mug for me. And for those who are wondering - my 1 mug cost me $90.70. I think its important that we understand the cost -
Wow, that was such fun and so inspirational! There is always so much variety and your work is so beautiful! Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing your talent and work!

Thoroughly enjoying watching this on a lazy Boxing Day morning. Seasons greetings to you and yours Vaughan. Looking forward to many more videos in 2022. Happy new year
Thank you for all the demonstrations, tips, glaze recipes and being able see a little of Nova Scotia every week as well as your amazing work. Our last holiday before Covid was to Mahone Bay where we have relatives. As soon as visiting can resume I’ll be dropping in, can’t wait. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you both.
Boxing Day morning with a good, long video from Vaughan in NS…hope you are having a happy holiday. I remember when you started the videos and I commented that you should keep going because you are amazing and informative and… and that your viewer figures would be through the roof!!! All the best from Lancashire, UK 🎄🎄🎄
Beautiful work on all these pieces once again. Love love love the sink and the 2 large whale urns. Very interesting about the tin and chrome i never knew that. Merry Christmas from the other side of Canada. We can send you some of our snow or maybe some of this crazy cold. Today the temperature was -41oC but with the wind chill -50oC
You created some gorgeous pieces. I’m in love with the fluted blue mugs and the bowls with all the different blues are amazing as well. Thank you for posting a picture of the sink all finished. I paused the video and really admired every detail that went into the piece. Your videos have been one of the things I’ve most enjoyed about this past year. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! ps. I have no doubt the Mrs was very pleased with the Icelandic set you made her for Christmas. Cheers!
Thanks, I am glad you liked it. The dinner set was a hit, you will see it in a video soon. It resulted in us completely spring cleaning the dining room all day.
Gorgeous pots as always. Thanks for the videos , after seeing them from the first lump of clay and through the various processes I love seeing the final glazed pieces. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you and yours.
I’m in the Okanagan valley of BC where we have had everything thrown at us this year - Covid, a heat dome, devastating forest fires that took out entire towns, rain with flash floods with all three major highway suffering washouts and now a chilling arctic front -28c with strong wind so feels like -34. But we are optimistic Canadians who know tomorrow will be better 😊
ALTOGETHER...WOW!! As usual it is amazing how 50 minutes goes by so quickly Vaughan. I have to say my favourite this time was the whale @ 5:22 Looks like a marble finish to me and it is amazing how you do your sculptures. So much good stuff out of your kilns that deserve kudos. All the best for the coming year and I hope you enjoy your wee break. Looking forward to what the New Year brings. Cheers...Freddie
Merry Christmas and continued success in 2022 Mr. Smith. absolutely Love your work, wish I was closer to N.S., I would go visit but sadly im in NewJersey! take care, stay safe looking foward to more videos from you!
Happy Holidays, Vaughan! I've really loved all of your videos this year and greatly look forward to another year - I hope you'll keep posting. Wishing you and yours great health and happiness in 2022.
What an absolutely stunning video. I just love all the color combinations. The blues and grays are my favs. I have learned so much this year and can't wait to see more. When you do glazes over others, what would you say is the proper timing of each dip. Have a great remainder of 2021 and even better 2022.
What incredible work you have done!! The really big whale pots are just amazing!!! As for global warming, I just want you to think about when you have ice in glass, when the ice melts it doesn’t make your glass overfill. Just a thought.
It was neat seeing your test glaze wall, I remember a few months ago when I was really starting you suggested finding a nice oatmeal glaze in a video and a friend was kind enough to give me a few pointers and now I have my own oatmeal recipe and I've been working toward developing other glazes and I can't wait to start testing layering effects. Love your work as always! That big piece was INCREDIBLE!
This wee video by Janis Wilson Hughes about controlled cooling in a manual kiln may help: ua-cam.com/video/cGwNnktUpYY/v-deo.html I have found typing my questions into UA-cam will usually come up with some sort of answer. Hope this helps? Cheers...Freddie
I don't know if you're interested but I use a flathead screwdriver to remove stilts. I gently apply pressure at each arm of the stilt. I tend to keep from damaging the pc or breaking the stilt.
I have done that too, mostly they just need a tap. The main issue I have is the multiple glazing, up to three layers and then the long soak, it runs down the handle and sometimes sticks to the stilt. Less so recently since I am aware of this and take precautions. There is always a surprise in every firing.
They are and if you use a porcelain type clay you need to bat wash the shelves. The shelves tend to allow the high fritted clay bodies to stick to the shelves. It was Jim Bailey who told me to do this when I told them my B-mix pieces were sticking to the shelves.
Too much work for me but i am sure if you bought a ceramic drill bit and some Kanthal wire it would be possible. They are cheap and last for 6-10 firings.

@@joyfulthings1 I guess we are the lucky ones. Living on the edge against the elements.

New Jersey is on the same side of the continent. Travel is not on the cards in the near future for many. Stay safe.
Happy Holidays, Vaughan! I've really loved all of your videos this year and greatly look forward to another year - I hope you'll keep posting. Wishing you and yours great health and happiness in 2022.

You are just across the Bay of Fundy, stay warm over there. Happy New Year.
I like the shape and size of your mugs. Nice glaze combos too😊
Thanks again, my most popular items are mugs.

Very cold this week.

Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica, google it.

Thanks, there is always a new glaze effect waiting around the bend. I have a doozy in the next video.
Happy New year Vaughan, amazing firings, the soak was definitely worth the extra power😊
Thanks and stay safe.
Whale vases are gorgeous.. I have a manual kiln so can't figure out how to soak or slow cool..not sure I can...
This wee video by Janis Wilson Hughes about controlled cooling in a manual kiln may help:

I have found typing my questions into UA-cam will usually come up with some sort of answer.

Freddie seems to have answered the question. It is possible as long as you have a digital pyrometer and infinite switches on the kiln.
I don't know if you're interested but I use a flathead screwdriver to remove stilts. I gently apply pressure at each arm of the stilt. I tend to keep from damaging the pc or breaking the stilt.

Thanks
Frohe Weihnachten, Vaughn, to you and your family.
Thank you.
Those bowls for your wife are GORGEOUS!
Thanks she is happy with them.
Hello Vaughan, Love your videos. Thank you for sharing. Amazing work. Could you please share how you sign your pieces. What do use to sign them?
Happy New Year Vaughan. Gorgeous work learning so much from you !!
What do you call those pieces you put the mugs on in the kiln ? Thanks so much
They are stilts, cone 6.
Beautiful work! How do you glaze the bottoms and they don't stick to the firing pad, pls??
I use stilts that have 3 metal spikes to hold the piece above the shelf.
Are your shelves advancer shelves? If so, why do you use kiln wash on them?
They are and if you use a porcelain type clay you need to bat wash the shelves. The shelves tend to allow the high fritted clay bodies to stick to the shelves. It was Jim Bailey who told me to do this when I told them my B-mix pieces were sticking to the shelves.
Joyeux Noël à vous. 🤗
Merry Christmas to you too.
Can you repair and replace the stilt wire in stilts after they have collapsed?
Too much work for me but i am sure if you bought a ceramic drill bit and some Kanthal wire it would be possible. They are cheap and last for 6-10 firings.
Lively things
