Yes i noticed the custom expert tool, handy on most of the jobs you have done :-).
Well at least the computer is not hidden behind the dashboard, like some daft companys do.
Quick, throw it away and fit a distributer and carbs on the car, much better lol :-D

Hey, I'm having an issue with no spark condition in cold weather on a 2008 Legacy. I've replaced the crank sensor and still no spark, cant pick up a control signal from PCM to the coil pack (tested at 4 pin connecter at coil). At this point I'm thinking the PCM isnt working or maybe a solder inside the computer is losing contact in cold weather. Do you know if the computer has to be programmed to your car or if its simply plug and play?

I was wondering the same thing. Have you figured that out yet?

@@justplanesense Yeah, finally found the issue after months of chasing it, and also bringing it to a dealer to have them fail at a diagnosis also.....
It ended up being a loose connection in a wire at the ECM. It would work fine in warmer weather, but when it got cold the wire or pin must have shrunk just enough to lose connection. The wire was for the control signal to the coil, so coil wouldnt activate to activate spark plugs. Quite difficult to chase this one down....
However, before you go digging for the ECM I would check that you have a no spark condition, a working crank sensor, a working coil, and signal going to the coil. All of which can be done with a basic multimeter.
Here's a link to most subaru factory service manuals....they are quite big but you can do a search for "Diagnostics for Engine Starting Failure" to bring up the section you need, this is ultimately what helped me to the diagnosis the dealership was unable to complete.
Are you having a similar issue? What model car do you have? Is it cranking and not starting?

My issue is slightly different. But your problem with the computer is what I was curious about
My 2003 subaru legacy starts and runs great for like 1 minute. Then it goes crazy. Engine surging shaking sounds like it's going to stall.
I've replaced spark plugs wire and coil. Injectors fuel pump and fuel filter. New egr valve, coolant temp sensor, and Idle air control valve and new oxygen sensors. Also put a used engine wiring harness on there as well.
Engine was rebuild back in Sept of 2021

@@justplanesense Any check engine light or codes? I would think if it was running that rough then it would trip some sort of code. My issue was a no spark condition which is very different than your issue. Sounds like you have a cylinder not firing or a similar issue.

Try cutting up the same video and keeping the same info all in under 2 minutes. It was a tad long to follow.
In USA we have short attention spans. Roughly 2.5 seconds is the United States attention span average (if it hasn't changed since I last checked). Hence shorter commercials on national tv.
