Poor business practices is the real reason why this business failed. Too much loss in real estate rent and loss in the customers dropping the ice cream. Plus no one is going to be paying an exorbitant amount of money for a single scoop of ice cream. He was charging more for a scoop compared to other shops. There are better competitors selling for less.

It sounds like a REALLLLLLLY hard sell in NYC with so many established classics. You can't just reinvent the wheel, you need SERIOUS talent to create an outstanding and ORIGINAL recipe.
Also while I certainly can't judge at all without trying it myself, I have serious doubts about having the scoops in pre-made balls. It doesn't look very fresh when broken up. I understand it must have significant financial advantages, and you mention other benefits, but when you take shortcuts like that you often sacrifice quality in the product.
The throwing thing is kind of cute, but it's ultimately a gimmick, and while probably not forced, one that probably turned some potential customers off.
I don't cheer at anyone's failure, especially with something like this that is someone's dream, and it must have been very humbling as well. But I don't think he had any idea of how massive of an undertaking this actually was. There's nothing wrong with trying though and I'm glad he's moving onto other stuff 😊.

I think that your store was amazing And I was hoping that your social media following would help more with the store itself than just being able to pay the bills for one more month. I think choosing New York was the first mistake however. With its extremely pricey leases and competition, I knew it’d be hard to keep up with esp during the winter months. I think catchn ice cream was an amazing concept and so is the cake cup creamery. I’ve never heard of a single serving ice cream cake. I know it’s hard to lose something you worked sooooo hard to get but I’m glad you got there and got the experience it. Learn from the mistakes and use them as lessons for when your next business opens. I’m hopeful for your future bro I know it’s gonna be great. I hope one day catchn ice cream gets to live on

Watched the whole video and still don’t know why it closed. What was the expected numbers versus the actual numbers? How many cups on average were needed to be sold per day to break even? Was that number realistic? Great concept that I think would do well in California, but probably not NY. Tourism is a risky market to rely on. That rented space looked huge. Was all that space necessary? While it’s cool to want to focus on customer experience, the downside is that it means the customer spends more time in the establishment. For other businesses, that might be a good thing. For food, it’s a bad thing. You want your customers to get in and out as fast as possible. Those are just some simple concepts that should have been considered before opening.
Sad so see the place go and I was rooting for you guys, but to be honest I kind of knew this place most likely wouldn’t work when I first learned about it when it opened. Still I had hope since the concept was so interesting. Good luck in your next endeavor!

Restaurant accountant here. People don't realize how important consistency is in the restaurant business. When you go to McDonald's in Tokyo and order a Big Mac, it tastes the same as the one in New York. That's very important. I think what Mr. Beast did wrong was his burger was similar in a lot of places but not the same. Reaching out to a bunch of independent burger places to attempt branding just sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. What Mr. Beast should have done was approach a single large chain like Five Guys or Wendy's and partnered with them.

I missed the opportunity to visit, and weirdly, I’m ok with that. I wasn’t your number 1, but I was still a super huge fan since you’ve been at coldstone! I’ll miss this, but I’m ready to see your next big opportunity. I’m glad that I, and the rest of us who love your content, got to be a part of your dream.

The experience you made with Catchin’ icecream and the knowledge you gathered will be far more important in your journey, rather than just trying to make a dollar.

It's a shame the ice cream shop closed. NYC, while glamorous in the past, is not the city it once was. It's failing and continuing to fail. I don't blame you for choosing NYC, but I believe it was inevitable that you would close. Local laws and rents don't make it easy to survive.
Have you considered more southern states? Even California would be good for this concept. I believe it can succeed if you try again, if you decide to. In NYC though, things have to change.
Props to you for trying, I wish I would've known about this place before to give you my business.

Louis Rossmann did a great series during covid on the utter disaster that is New York business rental locations.
He made the ultimate decision to move his entire business out of the state of New York after the city messed up paperwork and fined his business unnecessarily.

Thanks for making the video. You guys tried something out of the box and different. High risk high reward. You knew early on the shop was phase one and would be supported by phases 2 and 3. Not everyone has the same risk tolerance or fall back plans. If you had asked if you could start an ice cream shop in New York City and turn profit I would have said no that’s an extremely high risk risk idea. Go try it in Orlando where kids going to Disney can also visit your shop. But knowing the plans now I understand. High risk but tech venture kind of reward if phase 2 and 3 took off as intended

It's already hard making your business successful, it's 100x harder making it successful in NYC. This city eats start-ups alive. You start small and then expand. Maybe you could have opened a smaller shop somewhere else where ice cream shops aren't as prevalent. It's also very important to know what you're doing. A business advisor would have been nice, taking courses, etc. Anyway, try to look at the positives. At least you learned something from all this experience and who knows, possibly after some years you could try again and finally make it. As you said, keep dreaming!

the ice cream balls are really cool i just dont think the whole catching the ice cream thing is even worth the time and also everyone holding the bucket i wouldnt wanna eat the ice cream out of that after 300 people came in before me n touched that shit, why even have gloves on if youre gonna touch the bucket everyone did too lol. its just kind of ignoring everything ab food and food safety. but really great try
