Regarding 5:05, the diamonds used in abrasive tools are not of gem quality. Instead the diamond abrasive is known as bort which is of industrial quality and used in tools. Tiny bort abrasive grit particles are bonded to the surface of steel grinding or drilling tools. This is because diamond has the highest hardness of all which is 10 on the Mohs scale whereas Pounamu (also known as Nephrite) has a Mohs scale hardness of 6.5.
Hi there Nasser. I'm happy to hear that you will be going to New Zealand! I spent a year there and it is an amazing country with tons of stuff to see and do. I'm attaching the link to the blog entry I did for the Arahura River. It explains how I found these people and the steps that were taken. I invite you to take a look at it and see if there are any other places you'd like to visit while there. The blog documents all the places I went to during that year, so hopefully you'll get some more inspiration. kiwicrossings.blogspot.com/2009/07/pounamu-pounamu-where-for-art-thou.html Good luck!
