I had a similar problem (mine wouldn’t unlock). After MUCH faffing about, I found that the relevant relay on the fuse panel in the boot had failed. Relay replaced (a couple of quid) and problem solved.

A failed relay that’s a new one as it’s usually the tailgate wiring that fails. Well discovered.

Hi you ever done anything with a Mercedes boot open switch on the drivers door not working ,??

      I haven’t unfortunately,
These are my thoughts on addressing the issue in order of difficulty.
Press the switch very hard and rotate the switch in circles up down sideways etc first to see if that makes the boot release work as it may clean the switch contacts.
Then I would remove and test the switch with a multimeter if it comes out relatively easily before investigating the wiring.
The wiring is a possibility as it’s the drivers door that gets the most use and it flexes every open and shut cycle of the door . I once had an old car (Vauxhall Carlton) that the central locking never worked from when I bought it and one day I locked the car with the key and the locking solonoid burst into life by fluke! This turned out to be a broken wire contained in the rubber sleeve between the drivers door and A post. I bridged the broken wire and had working central locking for the rest of my ownership of the vehicle. I hope you can repair it.

Thanks! I have power at the connector, and the tailgate opens/closes freely when unlocked. The lock mechanism has no free movement at all. The actuator piston is in the compressed position. Would it be best just to replace the actuator, or the whole locking mechanism? 🤔

I’m wondering if the solenoid has seized. It would probably be available as a replacement part.

Hi. How do you remove the black plastic electrical connector 2:50 into video? It doesn't seem to pull straight out. Thanks!

It has a locking tab to push in on the side next to the pink wire just push that tab in and pull the connector off. It doesn’t take much force to remove.
