Anders, just so you know.... I (we) really appreciate you and Az doing these... It is easy to get in a cocktail rut!! It is really fun trying new things behind the bar. So, thanks. Bob from Minnesota.
As a kinsman of Clan Cameron, I appreciate this video immensely. Fun Facts: The name Cameron comes from a Scots-Gaelic term meaning “crooked nose,” which is a facial feature of many with Cameron blood, myself included. Also, the Camerons were the last Scottish regiment to charge into battle wearing kilts. The German soldiers called them “ladies from Hell.”
Big thanks to you and Az for single handedly getting me into mixed drinks! I have enjoyed Scotch neat in a Glencairn glass but to discover and try all of these classic and new twists has been a fun adventure with my wife and my dad. Always look forward to more “sips, tips and recipes”! Cheers Anders! 🍻 P.S. Love the bear logo with the drink glass as the nose……very clever. 🤔
Hey Anders and Az! I love and appreciate the content you guys put out, educational and entertaining is a phenomenal combination. I do have one request for a video topic. "Weird good" is always intriguing. I feel like some madman out there is going to make this cocktail, for better or worse, with not only scotch and Irish whiskey, but also adding bourbon and even rye, for a quad whiskey extravaganza. Am I that madman? Who's to say... Also I would choose a t-rex tail and ride a motorcycle
Interesting sounding drink! It looked familiar and then, with a bit of looking about, I realized it's similar to an Army & Navy, which I know my wife and I enjoy. Tried it last night, two versions (yours, with .5 oz each of Orgeat and Lemon Juice) and another that's out there (.75 each of Orgeat and Lemon Juice), and preferred yours. Thanks for the introduction to another delicious drink. Cheers to both of you!
Before you said this was a classic cocktail I read the title a thought “Wow, somebody named a drink after the scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off where Cameron kicked his dad’s car off the jack sending it down the hill? These names are getting really specific!”

Anders I was introduced to a drink a few years back at my local favorite bar that pertains to Islay scotch being difficult to mix with. Story has it, the bar owner borrowed it from a bartender that created this drink at a Laphroaig sponsored bartenders competition between five and ten years ago. 3/4 lemon 3/4 vanilla syrup 1 egg white 2 Laphroaig 10 The vanilla crushes the peat in such an unexpected way. Not sure if the original had a name but I knew it was "Robert The Bruce."

I start building my bar with your videos and now I am so into cocktails that a bought some of the books you recommend, I didn’t like cocktails and maybe was because I never had so good cocktails that the ones a prepare with your recipe. I would like to ask if you can try to do a cocktail with Venezuelan rum we have a couple that are really good. Big hug and like I always said please don’t stop doing your videos.
Have never bought an Irish whiskey in my life (and I'm about 15% Irish! mostly Scottish-'Murican though :) ) but grabbed what a Safeway in Maui had and made it with the rest in proper place including Liber's. Wow! Really refreshing and lighter than I would have guessed. Keep up the great work.
I am rarely mixing with Irish Whiskey (usually sipping it neat). So I prefer using a higher proof one, like Teeling (Small Batch, Single Grain). All of their iterations are 92 proof, so you can feel the flavour better (I've just used it to make the Cameron's Kick, in tandem with a 92 proof Glen Scotia double cask single malt). Even the orgeat syrup was made in house, following your recipe. It was a really nice drink.
We have a family drink that mixes Scotch and Irish Whiskey. I had no idea there was an actual drink with both. Ours is called The Heritage. Scotch (for our Scottish side), Irish Whiskey (for our Irish side), and Vernor's (because we're from Michigan - Vernor's is gingerale, but better).
Ok boss, this is just another in a string of your excellent vids. My son in law and I are becoming skilled thanks to you, Big Thanks. Made a Cam-Kick last night, actually x2 to fill a double old fashion glass. VTasty cocktail!! sneaky strong.
Tried it with my Monin orgeat and it’s pretty good. And I was looking on your curiada and noticed you have Licor 43 and I’ve been kinda on the fence about adding it. What do you tend to use it for?
OK, Anders, you did it again. Timing is perfect and I now have the drink for our “cocktail hour” this evening. Was actually wanting to do one more Irish whiskey cocktail as my wife and I both have 50% Scots-Irish heritage.
I literally just bought some scotch and thought to myself “I wonder if Anders has a scotch recipe”. I think UA-cam’s algorithm has official hacked my subconscious
Great timing. I have a batch of Orgeat I need to use up. If I'm going to use Suntory whisky for this, any recommendations for that split base? I have a Tullamore irish whisky. But maybe those are almost too similar?
WE just came off the slopes of Beaver Creek and one of the bars, to remain nameless, totally dorked an adult beverage. Was supposed to be a bourbon, mezcal with "lemon infused maple syrup". Totally missed the mark. It was more like a lemonade which sat next to bottles of bourbon and mezcal for five minutes. We WILL be experimenting at home to get the ratios correct. Must have been the T-Rex thing that made me think of it. I was mad like one after that order.....LOLOL. Made me appreciate your mixing so much more.
Thank you sooo much for making this video! I've made this drink for many years. Such an underrated classic! And thanks for following the classic specs from Savoy.
Quick question: as you seem to think that this drink is best served very cold, would it be best served being presented on the rocks... perhaps in a lowball with clear ice?
Drink the 'KICK' ...Quick!...Super-chilled...Oh Yeah!!!! i've never 'used' Orgeat Before!!.. Hey ...1st for 'everything'...Excited to 'TRY'! Cheers to you Both! ...your Canadian Bartender....
Made it last night with Monkey Shoulder and Jameson. Being a Paper Plane, Black Manhattan kinda guy this was very different in a good way (and I got to use my Orgeat). Thank for the weekly inspiration!
My bar is full, litterally, so my wife won't let my buy yet another whisky. So if I don't have Irish Whisky, what's best: all scotch blend or using Rye (that's the only two I have :-)) instead of Irish?
Another great video! I do have one question. You stated on the video that you can have this up or on the rocks. What characteristics in a drink determine if you want to enjoy a drink up or on the rocks? Is this subjective or is there reasoning behind the method?
It's subjective. I like most of my sour style cocktails served up because I tend to drink them faster than a spirit-forward cocktail. They're best consumed fresh and light while there's still air incorporated from the shaking. Of course rules are meant to be broken, and if there are bigger flavors (like scotch) I can see enjoying it on the rocks to keep it chilled longer as you drink it. The bigger flavors also hold up better to further dilution, but again, it's all subjective. Good question!
Yeah, good question. I ordered a Manhattan the other day and, to my surprise, it came in a rocks glass with regular old ice in there. It was tasty, but I felt like I had to drink it quickly to keep it undiluted. I guess I should ask which way the drink comes from now on.
There are times when I have wondered if Anders and Az got a little high prior to filming. This week I’m certain of it. I’m can see them editing, saying to each other, “Do you think anyone will be able to tell?” Yes. Yes we can. Lol This drink sounds amazing. I love scotch!
Kinda weird, but in a good way! Powers is a great Irish whiskey for mixing, especially when splitting the base with a scotch like monkey shoulder, as it's got more Pot Still whiskey in the blend than other whiskeys like Jameson or Tullamore Dew. Helps it to stand up to the maltiness of the Monkey Shoulder as an ingredient in its own right, rather than just being "more booze"
Hi. Great video!(as always) I got an idea for a series to do on the channel.I would love to hear your explanation about different spirits, kind of what you did with mezcal. (Also an idea for the name: NOW THE BOOZE)
I have both Scottish and Irish ☘️ Heritage. I absolutely adore 🥰 Monkey Shoulder from Speyside and it’s delicious 🤤. Thank you Anders for another wonderful cocktail 🍹 and may Bon Dieu bless you!
Trying this tonight after work. Will probably go with Monkey Shoulder and Sexton whisky as its the only Irish I've got on the shelf at the moment. Looking forward to it!

Fantastic video as always Anders! I made the drink and it was a bit too sweet for me, but I'll be sure to tweek it to my tastes in the future. Thank you!!
Ooh that's a good one. I've made it a few different ways - from all mezcal to mostly tequila with just a little mezcal. Depends on the bottles you’re working with. For the sweetener, agave nectar is standard, and I like using Ango as the bitters. As for the garnish, I like a twist of grapefruit with the mezcal, but I know orange is common. A video on this one's a great idea - Cheers!
From the mountains of NC there are many Scotch-Irish inhabitants. (Hint: I'm one of them) I'll have to give this a try! Thanks for the video! Also, I'm heading to Nelson's this summer because of you!! Bottom's up!!
A good question. Bourbons tend to be sweeter than the spicier rye whiskeys - so if you have a sweet tooth, some you might enjoy are Woodford Reserve, Maker's Mark, or Four Roses Small Batch. Of course, if you like things really sweet, you might want to mix up an old fashioned where you can adjust the sugar level of your drink. Hope this helps!
😂 arms and tail. Anders, both you and Oz should seriously consider making drinks in T-Rex 🦖 costumes. I’d pay to see that and I’m certain it would go viral. 😉
Okay so I never made orgeat before but saw this and decided to make the whole “decades worth” recipe from your syrups 2.0 video just to make this drink tonight! The syrup is absolutely amazing, the drink though isn’t my favourite. It’s nice and all, but don’t get much of the orgeat when I made it. I don’t have Powers though so had to make do with Glenfiddich which could have overpowered it? Oh well, need to go through some of your other videos which call for orgeat now, I have enough to make use of! Great video as always guys :)
Well glenfiddich is a scotch so did you double scotch? Any Irish and blended scotch should give you an idea. Those ratio's scotch is gonna overpower. For a good scotch cocktail check out the penicillin
@@TempestSageX oh dear you’re right, I used two scotches instead of scotch and Irish whiskey! I’ll get some Irish whiskey today and remake, thanks for pointing that out for me. Also, penicillin is a top 3 cocktail for me, LOVE that drink.

Fantastic video as always Anders! I made the drink and it was a bit too sweet for me, but I'll be sure to tweek it to my tastes in the future. Thank you!!
Thanks for giving it a try, Joonha! Happy mixing and have a great weekend! 🥃
The Liber & Co is definitely a good commercially available orgeat.
Try highland park scotch with it
Hah, I was wondering if there is a drink that combines those two whiskeys. Thanks
I have noticed when you express the citrus oil you do tend to miss most of the glass a lot of times... Is this intentional i start to wonder xD
Wow I get it. My first reaction after taking a sip was “that’s wired, followed by but in a good way”… LOL
Sup Anders, love your videos. How do you make a Oaxaca Old Fashioned. Would love to see a video on that.
No, YOU say it!
Y'all are so cute
From the mountains of NC there are many Scotch-Irish inhabitants. (Hint: I'm one of them) I'll have to give this a try! Thanks for the video! Also, I'm heading to Nelson's this summer because of you!! Bottom's up!!
Cheers! Say hi to the island for me! 🍻
@@AndersErickson absolutely! Going to join the bitters club! I'll let them know you sent me!
I love all you videos. Please could you recomend a Boutbon and Rye whisky for someone which a sweet tooth.
Hahaha kinda love this idea
You’re like the Peter McKinnon of cocktail youtube
Clicked for the cocktail, "liked" for the T-Rex
El Guapo also makes really.good orgeat, both an almond and a Creole made with pecans
Will Chivas and Jameson work?
I think that'll do. Only one way to be sure though - Cheers!
Nice, thanks you goos sir. Stay cool, man
That story is questionable... But the drink looks like a fabulous spiked luxurious lemonade.
