    Louie Simmons, and Westside Barbell is the best gym in the world for strength, and conditioning. This video certainly proves that!

    If you want to see their quad development all you have to do is...look at their quads. Further, this is not bodybuilding. They are not judged by the size of their muscles but by the amount of weight they move. If you don't like geared lifting, that is fine, but don't troll on videos of geared lifting.

    @CommunityCircus its just a different variation of the squat. it helps build explosive strength and allows you to go heavier.

    I've actually incorporated these into my squat days, performing them after my Wendler cycle. 5 x 10 at half my max squat weight. I realize that some folks do these with higher weight/lower rep schemes, but I like them as a change of pace after "traditional" squats. I believe they're helping with explosiveness on my back squat.
    Also, I've been recommending these at a lighter weight for folks suffering from the "navicular drop," as box squats encourage better form.
    Thoughts, opinions?

    Squatting wide down to a box builds flexibility. It only took me 3 weeks to get used to it.

    Hey, if this is the real AJ Roberts, then get some more footage of Louie lifting. It's awesome to see somebody at his age kicking with heavy weights. Also, the rest of you are looking strong. I've heard AJ that you're looking at an 1050 squat? Is this true? Good luck.

    I only wish I'd found proper, FREE squat and box squat technique years earlier. I'd been doing all of my squats on a Smith, perhaps at parallel depth. Bad and bad. The Smith limits you, and while I still drove up through my heels, it isn't the best thing for your knees. Ditto for parallel depth. It's OK, but if you can break it, you give your knees a rest, contrary to the popular belief that you don't. Plus, you have all the muscle recruitment to bring up the heavier load.

    @PastorelloPowerTeam7 part of the goal of that DVD was to demonstrate that because of the american culture and the way sports have developed, top athletes are almost all taking some form of drug enhancement, like it or not its what is done to provide the best entertainment, most people just dont realise. looks like you missed the point of the documentary completely.

    I really don't get some people on here. These guys HAVE quad development, you can see it. Not everyone is so vain and insecure, they have to get big n' pretty and shredded, like some emaciated freak. Don't get me wrong--I train for mass and physique. But I want to be just as strong as these guys as well, and I use very wide-stance squats, just w/ less intensity, and shorter rest periods--no pretty-boy training for me, thank you.. Nothing but respect for Louie Simmons and his guys.

    I do wide stance way more than I do narrow stance, but when I do narrow stance I find it very easy. Sumo stance deads and box squats are the bread and butter of any great training routine. I hate stupid "body builders" and planet fitness freaks who dont know how to lift properly coming on here and bashing the rite way. I love showing up chicken legged roidos at my home GYM.

  • @thedude2979
    @thedude2979 13 років тому

    @flowride68 Yeah man! Anyone who squats real weight and wants to get stronger should be doing box squats more often than regular squats. It greatly improves speed and power coming out of the hole. All bottom work is necessary. You can easily incorporate these into 531 after your main lift, even on deadlift day. These idiots posting here don't understand the importance of wide stance squatting and posterior chain development(from calves to traps). They think squatting is a quad exercise. Hahaha

    So if it's the same quads activation, why olympic lifters have double the quads size of a powerlifter ????

    • @xbenxwilsonxhighlights7879
      @xbenxwilsonxhighlights7879 2 роки тому

      Wide squats are for hips and posterior chain. Minimum quads. The strongest joint in the body is the hips so if you want a big squat build strong hips.

  • @lerippletoe6893

    Because he SAYS that wide strength goes to narrow strength? You also have to realize that they would be like doubling their range of motion. He also said that powerlifters are much stronger than olympic weightlifters which is clearly false when weightlifters have casually squatted powerlifting raw records in training.

    No matter how much they back and forth, seated on a box, lazy , 1/16th of ass to grass these people "squat" they have no quads development meaning that this IS NOT SQUAT !!! It's some stupid kind of form going back and forth thing, God knows what.........
    Hey Louie trying to front squat the same thing without this stupid harness and knee wraps man !! Meaning squat like a man !!! Without gizmos and equipment !!!
    RAW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DefenseForLife54

  • @Nippon1971
    @Nippon1971 12 років тому

    Maybe front squat I do squat more than Louie actually and I mean without all the roids he'd been using and the and squat astronaut suits he also uses. And you don't have to go to competition to kick someone's ass in lifting !! You can do it anytime any place.......Besides I'm not the one (like he is) saying: " I have the best training system and things like this" If he's so FUCKING good in lifting training systems why doesn't he prepares his lifters for the Olypmic lifting ?

  • @Nippon1971
    @Nippon1971 12 років тому

    So you mean to tell me that these people can olympic squat that weight ??? I seriously doubt that !!!! On the other hand I know olympic lifters that can half squat (powerlifting silly style squat) nearly 1,5 times their full squat WITHOUT gizmos and triple squat suit and knee wraps......How knows what is next.....maybe a lifting crane !!!! Hahaha !!!

  • @Nippon1971
    @Nippon1971 12 років тому

    Unless he shows us an Olympic style REAL MEN squat and not some half bending, leaning forward with split stance like he's going to do gymnastics (hahahaha !!) squat, then this stupidity you call squat is a FALSE thing that will make you believe that you really squat big weights....Like Eliot Hulse said: "If you can't squat low, you ain't worth SHIT" !!
