I first listened to this piano cover of yours back in 2011. I keep finding myself coming back to this. Very well done. Truly a masterpiece! The nostalgia is just too overpowering.
I remember sitting on a bunk on deployment listening to this very video in 2014. This coming year 2022, I am going to learn piano. And one day when the time is right I will be able to play this song. Hopefully as good as you.
That's a very inspiring comment, thank you for sharing it. You must have bittersweet memories considering the circumstances back then. Hope you're doing well and that you have been able to move on from whatever you experienced there. Best wishes
@gamemaster9210 with the middle pedal it's possible to apply the right pedal effect to specific notes only while all others can be regularly adressed with the right pedal. the notes kept in middle pedal will stay even if you change the ones kept in the right pedal. so if you hit any note and have any other note kept in middle pedal, that string will resonate from the sounds created by other notes. also, you can then use the right pedal without losing the notes kept in the middle one.
@ryancouture Two main places - during the talk between Squall and co and with Fujin and Raijin at Balamb after the first fight when they say they want nothing to do with Balamb anymore, that they're with Seifer. Most notably though during one of the final Laguna flashbacks, when he's being made to work for Esthar soldiers and he'd looking after that Moomba.
@redcloud02 actually playing dancing mad on piano is something that i had wanted to do for many years now, but doing that piece justice is months worth of work even with healthy fingers. i love the black mages version, btw.. never heard chaos battle from ff1, i suppose it'S the final boss battle theme? those are always very dramatic and engaging.
Impressive. That is simply amazing and I can't stop listening to it. It's really relaxing, I love most of the ff8 themes. I honestly prefer this version rather than the original one. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
@Gharmos hello, thank you very much. yeah this is an underappreciated piece and i love the original. this is my own arrangement and i unfortunately don't have sheets for it. but there is a possibility for future sheets, it could just take a long time. sorry about that.
@Alkahest nice someome remembers that video :) i love these cards, it was such a great idea to publish the ingame cards as a real collectible card game.
@VirtualHarmonies Thanks man, I love both pieces you mentioned, they are challenging though. As for Fisherman's Horizon, let's see if I can do that one. I actually love the piano collections version of it, such a rich and beautiful sound. But that version is challenging so perhaps I'll do a different arrangement for the OST version.
Beautiful, Verd ;) keep working on the FF8 soundtrack like this!--I am absolutely enthralled listening to the pieces reworked on piano the way you do them:) Means so much to me!
@PoisonMako hi, sorry for the late reply. yeah i'll play ff9 in the future, i actually already recorded a track for the OCRemix FF9 Remix album, the recording was done over a year ago but I have to wait until the album is released until I can upload it which will probably still be something like half a year or so. But I might also play some other stuff, FF9 has good tracks.
Ooh, this one. I had forgotten about this theme. Yeah, definitely a touching theme. Didn't it play in some of the Ellone/Laguna scenes, as well as the Moomba scenes?
@ryancouture thanks, and i agree, uematsu is great for the many different pieces throughout the games. although, liberi fatali and one winged angel are great pieces (just slightly overplayed haha).
Very impressive, I feel like this is a kind of sound I've never heard from a piano. A noteworthy arrangement, quite different from other pieces you've played.
@KingdomHeartsIIIX yeah i realize it just now that i rewatch it, it adds some intense lighting effects on the keys. i'll try to use that lamp more often :)
i agree, This is beautiful though a personal favourite are the pieces from FFIX, Nobuo Uematsu's favourite score that he composed... and with your fingers you can surely bring out the magic in some pieces... a challenge and one I haven't heard would be "Assault Of The Silver Dragons" *COUGH COUGH* But seriously, good job on this, it's mesmerizing to listen to and nostalgic nonetheless
@magicturbo9 Thank you, and yeah Uematsu himself said that the FF9 soundtrack is his own favorite, didn't he? It has great pieces. Have to listen to that Silver Dragon piece, don't have it in my ear right now.
@ryancouture haha that last one is a great arrangement, unfortunately there aren't sheets for it. the successor and kuja's theme are both great. all these pieces are out of my reach at the moment. let's see if i can find something else from ff9.
@Verdegrand Not a problem! I went ahead and worked on my own chord choice. Got some of the same diminished chords in there too, but it doesn't have exactly the same richness as this one. If you ever get around to producing some sort of sheet for this I could amend some of my chords :)
@Verdegrand that sounds awesome might i suggest Kuja's theme? i always like that song also he is a underrated villain after he finds out hes a failure he wants to destroy the world because he thinks that no one deserves to live if he can't or without him only problem with him is his "thong" thing lol
@ryancouture are you serious? there is no way to use synthesia to actually learn harder or more complex pieces (or at least, it would take months lol). but yeah i love that arrangement so let's see what i can do with it sometime in the future.
Greetings from the Gooseberry! Once again, lost for words. Once again, thumbs up. Anyway, it's amazing that you managed to play the right hand that perfectly - whenever I play something like that with a random feel to it and using the same notes, I keep getting it mixed up. Oh, and did you draw the Moomba? :D
I know i'm a bit late but have you got the piano sheet of this song ? It seems impossible to find on the web. Thank you very much and very good job of course, i just love your cover.
I first listened to this piano cover of yours back in 2011. I keep finding myself coming back to this. Very well done. Truly a masterpiece! The nostalgia is just too overpowering.
Thank you for saying that, making those FF8 videos was a very intense time back then, greatly appreciate that you'd keep watching them. Best wishes.

One of my all time favorites in the franchise!
Beautifully done! Thank you!
God this is hitting home for me. I love you.
The light that is hitting the piano makes it look so stunning..
Thank you so much for uploading this, it's incredibly beautiful and will always be one of my favorite songs in the FF franchise
What a pleasure to listen to you perform this wonderful song.
How smooth and how delicate.
The way you treated this song is as enchanting as the song itself :)

Very nice performance and what a beautiful piano!
Such a nice song, and the whole FF8 OST is such a masterpiece that I can't even describe with words!
i felt a deep feeling of nostalgic happiness when i listen to your pieces! *sob* thanks dude! keep up the good work!
@ryancouture Two main places - during the talk between Squall and co and with Fujin and Raijin at Balamb after the first fight when they say they want nothing to do with Balamb anymore, that they're with Seifer.

VERY cool use of the sostenuto pedal!
AMAZING. amazing amazing amazing. you keep playing pieces from the OST that i don't first come to mind. but i'm sure glad you do.
it was also at the galbadia missle launch pad. Loved this song its so i don't know how to describe it...nostalgic
@CleverDjembe yeah the ff8 soundtrack is indeed a masterpiece, the more i get into it the closer it comes to becoming my favorite.
ahh i just loved the sound of this
Love this. Awesome cover for an awesome game. Kudos.

Very relaxing, it kinda helps me think ^^ great rendition!
Impressive. That is simply amazing and I can't stop listening to it. It's really relaxing, I love most of the ff8 themes. I honestly prefer this version rather than the original one. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Oh man, more of it! this is excellent. Fisherman's Horizon next please! xD
feels like a dream, good job

Thanks man that help me

@32bitSmoky take a closer look at what's on the upper registers of the piano :)
x_x oh jesus, I love every video you put out. The moomba card is awesome xD
Amazing !
Your videos never fail to amaze me :)
@DrakesTheories wow thank you for that comment, i really appreciate it a lot. yeah it does mean a lot to me. thank you.
ahhhh...so chill.....:)))
Ooh, this one. I had forgotten about this theme. Yeah, definitely a touching theme. Didn't it play in some of the Ellone/Laguna scenes, as well as the Moomba scenes?

@iBab0 thank you, i appreciate it

my favorite

@PoisonMako it's been so long ever since i played 9 and i barely remember anything from it. but yeah kuja's theme is nice.
@Verdegrand I learned the entire 'those who fight' and can play it perfectly on piano... learned entirely from synthesia.
@ryancouture haha that last one is a great arrangement, unfortunately there aren't sheets for it. the successor and kuja's theme are both great. all these pieces are out of my reach at the moment. let's see if i can find something else from ff9.

@drunyon214 yeah exactly, it's kind of moomba's/laguna's/ellone's combined theme, in a way.
You've made a good version of this, still sounding nice long after :)
@ryancouture are you serious? there is no way to use synthesia to actually learn harder or more complex pieces (or at least, it would take months lol). but yeah i love that arrangement so let's see what i can do with it sometime in the future.
Wonderfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuull !
Wonderful !!!! thank you so much!! ! can you play it one oktave higher ? sorry for my bad english ! pls answer me
@8Amaterasu8 thanks :)
@Snakethoot thanks
@jmitbitw thanks, I love Fisherman's Horizon, let's see :)
Greetings from the Gooseberry! Once again, lost for words. Once again, thumbs up.

@hassanemailz1 thank you
Gorgeous, especially your choice of chords for the main melody. I assume this is your own take on it? It's hard to find good sheets for this one.
@Verdegrand Yeah a really warm temperature
I know i'm a bit late but have you got the piano sheet of this song ? It seems impossible to find on the web.
Thank you very much and very good job of course, i just love your cover.
@Verdegrand I second Fisherman's Horizons hehehe.
Rip right hand, beaaaautiful
What exactly did the middle pedal and single bass note do at the beginning? I'm curious.
can you play some Final Fantasy 9!?
@hassanemailz1
that's what she said!!! ;P
Final Fantasy 8 is a shitty game with an amazing soundtrack and a fun card game tossed in there.
+dynelol Nah, it's amazing all round in every way... except for the gameplay. :P Exactly the kind of game that should be remade.
I think it's pretty good, though the story gets pretty stupid near the end.
Everyone seems to think so but it's actually quite similar to the plot of Interstellar :P
... except with considerably more witches.
The world it takes place in is awesome too. They should make another FF that scraps the FF8 story and characters and uses the same locations.
Bored song.
