Very informative tutorial! Keep 'em coming!
I see you've got some great videos as well - always happy to see others using and teaching Affinity products!
For sure, you're the king of more with less... Excellent tutorial... Thanks for sharing.
😎
Man this is crazy! I didn't know how easy it was to do this with a single tool. I thought it took about 4 or 5 steps in order to make effects like these. I see others creating masks and doing this and that - and by the time they're finished with whatever they're creating, the results don't look any more dynamic than what you just did here. Lol. I know that some sort of enhancing is usually necessary to get the exact effect that you're looking for on the backend, but to be able to start off with a simple Blend Mode saves you so much time in my opinion.
For sure Comps! Blend modes can be pretty powerful for the right stuff. It takes some playing around but you can get some really good stuff using them.
Thanks for explaining this feature, I'm learning the Affinity software with no background in design, it's my new hobby, so videos like yours are really useful. Cheers
Awesome to hear Ian! Once you get some basics down the rest is just playing around and making awesome stuff. Appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
I'm in my first project in Affinity Photo 2 right now, trying to figure out cool ideas for a thumbnail on an instrumental beat repair that I did for someone, and your videos are a lifesaver! Both for inspiration and learning what the heck I'm doing. Where do you find your photo's to export in such as that brick wall? Is google okay to use for thumbnails without any copyright issues? I've been using pinterest to find free pictures, but so many are lower quality or they aren't 1920x1080 like they say they are, so when stretching out something like bricks, they look way too large and a bit odd.
Thank you very much for the kind words! Best place for royalty free photos would be PixaBay, UnSplash & Pexels. Do a search under the 'stock' tab sitting at the top of the layers panel or go directly to their websites. Anything from there is free, and you're allowed to use anywhere. Good luck!
@@bydesignmethod My goodness! Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate it and can't wait to binge more of your content to follow along with once I'm done with this.
Good job. Keep it coming...
Thanks Michael! More on the way!
Nice explanation, again!
Glad you liked it!
i like you.
thank you for the vid 🙏
I'm flattered! thank you so much for watching, truly appreciated!
@@bydesignmethod you can be my blend mode friend.
Love your content. Quick q could you recommend a good pen tool for affinity? I cureently have the xp but it's not very responsive . Thanks for all your content its helping me out so much . Pc
Hey, thanks so much for watching.
To be honest I'm not sure about a pen recommendation, I've never tried it (I really should) but I'll put my feelers out and see if anything comes up. Thank you again!
Thanks. Good Video. I am just starting with Mock ups. I am trying to place an image in the picture frame which does include a shadow. So far...not much luck. I know about layers and did find the downdown for blend modes. Is it just to pick the best I can...or do I need to create a 3 layer "sandwich" with the bread being the frame and the cheese the image to be framed.
Hey Anna, thanks for watching! I'm not sure I understand the question. Can you explain it to me?
I'd like to learn how remove a background with a complex background...So many are done with a one colour background 😊 background
Hey Elise - I will be doing a video soon on that!
I'm trying to figure out how to blend two photos that are side by side. There is a hard line down the middle which distinctly tells you the photos are not blending one into another. I've seen the photoshop videos which seems simplistic and sometimes you can kind of apply photoshop to affinity photo but in this case I was lost. AP is not my strong suite. Any help greatly appreciated.
Hey Jo! No worries. You'll want to place a mask on both and then grab the gradient tool to fade them together. Check out my video on 'How to fade anything in Affinity Photo' which should explain everything. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/2HrhWV6zGGw/v-deo.html
@@bydesignmethod Fantastic thank you. :) I will give it a look.
