  • Hasseblad generously sent me the X1D II, a medium format digital camera, to use for a few weeks. I was able to take this camera on a trip to Texas as well as shoot around my home in Tennessee. Near the end of the video you can hear my unfiltered thoughts on what I like and did not like about this camera. Hope you guys enjoy!

      lol, I was going to say thats exactly what it sounds like a stapler, im not too keen on it though. Digital cameras arent bad but the prices are. Its so expensive even for lower end stuff. Makes me glad i invested in continuing film photography. I can get a hell of a lot more camera for the same money.

      @MrSwaggernaut83 4 роки тому

      @@pilsplease7561 doesn't film get expensive too though? I've been shooting mirrorless for a while and the way I see it digital has a high price of entry but once you have some gear you can shoot effectively infinitely for free. With film, being that it's older stuff it's less expensive off the bat generally (depends of course on the camera) but then film and developing and stuff adds up over time and is recurring... Just got a Canon AE1 and am enjoying it immensely but worried about money 😅

    What you didn’t test was the manual focus capabilities. It took me a week or two of usage to realize that the manual focus is really the only way to use the X1D. It feels like a more authentic camera experience, is whisper quiet, and is super easy. You have to get used to the focus peaking for quick usage and mapping a button to the quick zoom for tack sharp focus. But, you will be super happy with the experience.

    Love the photos you made around your home in this review. Beautiful! The person who is holding the camera matters most. I actually bought one of these recently, used from B&H, together with the new 45mm F/4 P lens. That lens amazingly makes even better images across the entire frame in every way, focuses pretty fast, and costs "only" $1,050. I'll mention since it bothered Willem, the new 45mm is much quieter. (It no longer sounds like his stapler.)

    Ooooh...I had the original X1D which was good, not great, but buggy as hell. I ended up selling that which broke my heart as the ergonomics were unmatched. Last week I was in the market to pull the trigger for the updated X1D ii but for once my head won over my heart and I went for the Fujifilm GFX 50R and their 50mm f3.5mm lens. I still prefer the feel and look of the Hasselblad but I have to be honest and say that GFX 50R is a lot quicker, more reliable and, personally speaking, fun to shoot.

    The high initial cost of this camera and lens is offset by how much money it makes you through being a working professional photographer. That's who Hasselblads are for, for the most part, all be it this is their entry level system.

    You can’t compare this camera with a Canon 5D or a Nikon D850! This is a completely different kind of camera. All technical constructions are compromises and when it comes to picture quality it’s nearly no compromises at all and the lenses are The best on the market what so ever! This is a cheap camera/lens combo if you are interested in picture quality. If you are more interested in shooting sports or birds you choose a Canon, Nikon or Sony with much lesser image quality (even if many thinks it’s good enough). As you can’t compare a RollsRoyce with a Volkswagen you can’t compare a Hasselblad with anything else but PhaseOne for instance!

      Corey Wolfenbarger Ok I see. What you could compare X1D to maybe is an ordinary Leica which is about the same price. Still there are hugh differences because of the sensor quality and even lens qualities in favour of Hasselblad. You did show nice pictures but what you also could do maybe is to explain what in the pictures make the pictures so good. There are much more than sharpness you know ... Otherwise you have a nice aproach, Thanks!

    The AF on the X1DII is as bad as it is on the H6D -- it is NOT a DSLR. It is built for quality not for action. No pro shooter has had any complaints over this camera.
    H6D50C - 35k X1DII - 6k. XCD lenses 3-5k, HC lenses +50%.
    You provided NO reviews or comparisons of the image -vs- any other camera you own. Put it up against your Canon. I did -vs- the Nikon D850 and the X1DII images were so so much better, within normal shooting parameters and mid to good light. DXOMark scored the sensor the highest by far of any sensor they have tested. The point of this 10k system is to make great images - and it delivers.
    The camera has a leaf shutter (in the lens) - this is why is makes the noise it does. Your DSLR makes the sound of a gun. X1DII also has an electronic shutter and can shoot entirely silent.
    Max fps is about 2.7 fps -- which is fast enough for studio, portrait, wedding, landscape etc...
    If you want 14//16/20 fps then you need to go with a top brand pro body D6, cannon or sony -- then you are into 7k for the body + lenses.
