in between, pulling in photos and arranging, you kind of leave a blank space... when i attempt to pull in photos and arrange... i get a rasterize message and am unable to move anything
As someone else said, you can do new guide layout and set the number. BUT then when you select the slice tool, there is a button in the top panel that says "slice from guides" (or something close to that) and it will slice right on all your guide lines so you don't have to manually try to slice right on the 1080 lines, it does it automatically for you.
Theres actually an even simpler way to slice your picture. You can make 1 single slice that covers the entire canvas, then right click on the slice icon in the top left of your picture, and divide slice, then you type into how many divisions youd want to slice your picture into. That requires no grids, no precision and no math. You just have to make sure your canvas dimensions are spot on. Hope that helps anyone who reads this.
That’s fun I was looking for the 1st video I thought I saved it. And now there’s an updated one. After 3 years I’m finally going to do a photo slice haha
Yo! first time viewer here. Great content, so I made sure to subscribe! Quick question, how could you do this but with a video in the middle slice (for example)?
a more easy short cut first make the canvas with the aspect ration, then design your canvas. After that click right button then go divide slice, mark divide vertically. i had 3 photo so i choose 3 slices. and there you go. then export it.
I have been practicing this. I was frustrated, at the beginning, but I noticed that I had to select 100 Percent. I had selected 1080 pixels for every division, and It wouldn't allow me, it defaulted to 1000 pixels. But I watched your video again, until I noticed the change I had to do. Thanks a lot!
Note for myself: Each picture posted on Instagram has their measurements, in this case: 5 tall (1350 px) x 4 wide (1080 px) The tall measurement never changes, only the width, so it will depend on how many pictures/slides you want at the end. So as an example, if I want to have 5 slides, we will multiply the 1 wide width (1080 px) times 5: 1080 px x 5 slides = 5400 px Resulting as: 1350 px x 5400 px
Help - crop individual images on the collage Does anyone know how I can crop the individual images I added in the collage? Most of the time the image section is too large and I have to crop the individual images. But I can't do that beforehand because I only see in the collage which image section I need... And somehow I can only make the individual images larger or smaller, but not crop them...
Not sure when this was released or PS was updated, but you can do math in the dimensions box, e.g. 1080*4, and it'll give you it in pixels or whatever unit you want.
Hey Dunna! Love your videos and how you deliver your educational content. Just a photoshop tip, when determining the size of your canvas, you can actually just type 1080*5 for the width, then change the 5 to whichever number of pictures you want. Saves you on some of the math you have to do.
Didn’t see a comment here on this technique. But I figured out after trying this video. If you slice select the whole image and right flick (or two finger tap) after it’s snapped to the two vertical edges. Right click and say divide slice. Can just say divide into 2,3,4, etc depending on your pixel dimensions it should be perfect.
You actually don't have to do any math to figure out the width. Just type in 1080*(whatever amount of frames you want). So for this example, just type in "1080*5" and Photoshop will figure it all out for you.
I've got 10 slides to my canvas is 10800 x 1350. But when I got to save for web, under image size it says the height is 1024, and I can't change it to 1350??
After spending 2 hours trying to figure out how it all works, I now found out that save for web (legacy) just simply doesn't work anymore. Is there another way to export the sliced file? Really could use some help because otherwise all that work was for nothing.
When I'm in the 'save for web' section and pressing 'save...' Adobe Photoshop says that it can't save it (pop-up notification). Is there something I'm doing wrong?
PLEASE PLEASE somebody help me please. When I try to export and edit the image size, it doesn't allow me to use the 1350 Height or use 100% image size, instead it only allows me to export in 75.8% . WHY??
Not sure if anyone mentioned it as Ive not read all the comments, but PS will also do the math for you, you can do 1080x5 on a calculator, or in the dimensions box type 1080*5 and PS will do it for you.
I downloaded my images, but four of them are showing up as a .gif file, and one as a .jpg-does anyone know why this might be and how to fix it? I had .jpg selected just like in the video, so I'm not sure what happened
This is great however I have one issue on my end. After slicing 8* I am limited to a width of 8192 instead of 8*1080=8640 and a height of 1280 instead of 1350. When slicing the Images they are perfect 8640 by 1350. Also, the Images have been pixelated.
FYI, For the slices you can try this, since you already had grids on, you can go back grides and clear the existing grid. Now make a new grid but this time around don't choose the horizontal grid, just choose the vertical one, on how many you want (for this video it's 5). Now go to the slice tool and in the above toolbar, you have an option called slice from guides and voila. You have your slices cut without zooming it for each slice.
Yeah the trick there is that it’s “guides” not “grids”. I’ve been using grids this whole time but a few comments on this video have pointed out that guides will work better! Cheers!
@@dunnadidit just came across your vide, not sure if anyone else mentioned it, have you tried doing this instead of a grid - View -> New Guide Layout - Select "5" on columns, everything else zero's. correct me if i'm wrong, but you can create guide lines in the drop down menu, 4 guides at 1080px apart, and then slice from guides and you'll have your 4 slices to create the 5 separate images. that should be faster!
Sweet! This is awesome, Thanks man! For setting the columns, I think you can do that by going to View->New Guide Layout and make sure the "Columns" is checked and set the number to 5 🍻

The best way I can describe is is when I adjust the size it seems to be a "fixed" sizing where it starts to crop out parts of the photo.
