    My mother in law was hair dresser who specialized in coloring and she always told me when using the store boxed dyes you need to leave the hair dye in your hair for 60 minutes. I have always followed her advice and the box dyes have always worked better when I leave the dye in my hair for 60 minutes. She also said all boxed dyes stop coloring after 60 minutes. So it's completely safe to leave in for 60 minutes and I've always done it this way and my hair colors work & look much better.

      Well that's not always true depending on what you are looking for. When I tine my blonde I have damp towel dried hair and leave Conor in for 29 minutes and it comes out bomb.

    Best, best, best video... Thank you so much for showing the products up close and the step by step. I am struggling with heavy grey coming in and am being forced to transition away from honey blonde to more silver/ash... I am going to look for these toners and developers that you used. So tired of having to choose between ugly hair and high salon bills! Thank you, thank you again... I love how your hair came out! :) Also for some reason UA-cam will not let me respond directly to one of the comments below, but I agree with the person who said you can leave store box hair color on for an hour... I have been doing that for years with better results than the 20 minutes they recommend. The flip side is that it dries out your hair but as long as you have a conditioning plan it's all good.

      @Colleen H I'm sorry for the late response! I'm not sure what happened, but your message was held for review. That's a good point about the conditioning plan. I haven't shared any videos on conditioning treatments at home, but I'd like to do that at some point. 🙂

      @@BeingBarton I did, and left it on too long - I've been shampooing with blue Dawn dish soap and it is lifting out to a nice silvery beige that blends well with my grey roots. :)

      @@foxycinquantuno3361 Maybe so. I feel the same way...I've gone back to platinum blonde. I think the silver looks nice, but it ages me. 🤷‍♀️

    Our Platinum hair has no pigment. That is why the color fades so quickly. Next time, you may wish to do what L'Oreal has told me: a color "fill", imparts pigmentation and allows your desired shade to last longer. As long as there is platinum all over, the darker shades simply will not cling.
    Use the 800 number to speak with Specialist on how to avoid early fade. You did well and the struggle is real🙂

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  2 роки тому +1

      @Howling Waters That is so cool! You know, I have never thought to call the 800 number associated with the products I use. 😅 Is is a protein filler? I'm looking online to see if I can find what you're talking about. Thank you for sharing!

    Also can I please give you a shout out for **not using a brush** to apply the toner! Lol! Gloves and hands! Done! And it came out gorgeous! So many tutorials show women taking 2 hours to apply the toner with a bowl and brush... sorry I don't have time for that, plus that means the toner is sitting on your hair forever. Haha! Thank you! :)

    Do you think it would work out to mix this color with the Light Cool Brown from the same line of color to make it more ashy?! I was considering doing that because I cannot seem to get rid of these reddish/brassy tones in my hair even when using an “ash” color and it’s driving me NUTS!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  3 роки тому +1

      @Kayla Hebert Well, I am truly just a lady who mixes and matches and buys things from the local supermarket...so please don't consider me in any type of 'professional' category. That said...I think adding a darker shade to this would cover any of the silver. Honestly. The silver requires such a pale blonde to even show. But! Can I ask...are you familiar with toner? I found it to be INCREDIBLE...using a toner after lightening. It takes away the brassiness every time.

    • @k.hebert

      @@BeingBarton I was curious to see if you thought it could work as a sort of toner for brown hair?! I probably should have specified that. Sorry! 🙈 I have light brown hair, but I’ve heard that silver can help to combat brassy tones in darker hair. I don’t have access to many different toners and things from the store because I don’t really live near a lot of places like that! LOL. I saw this color is my local Walmart last time I was browsing and wanted to look up reviews before trying it! I like to go with more of an ashy brown tone, but a lot of even the “ash” colors can sometimes pull more warm on my hair for some reason! 🤦🏻‍♀️

    • @BeingBarton
      @BeingBarton  3 роки тому

      @Kayla Hebert See there, you were way ahead of me! I totally get being far away from beauty supply stores...and I think it's brilliant to go for using silver dye to tone brown hair. I had never heard of it! But after a bit of searching, that is a legit method. I don't see any reason why this particular shade wouldn't be an effective toner for you. And I am so curious! Please let me know what happens and how you like it. 🙂🌻

    Hmm I just bought that color 8s, plus a darker gray S1, pearl blonde, and extreme platinum. Plus some gray glosses. Why so many? Because i have been dying my hair for years. I like to get different shades of the same hue going. It makes it look more natural. However, one big mistake is one has to keep box color on hair for full 25 minutes, otherwise it will wash out because you have only opened your hair staffs without it being the color completing itself. By the way one can dye one's hair with base color. Rinse let it dry. Then put a highlighting cap on the colored hair and bleach in highlights. Then do not shampoo, condition with conditioner in box. You're done. If you want to do roots later for bleached blonde 7A color dark ash is best.
